ADMIRABLE Chapter 27

DAHYUN (YURI'S)

───────── ♡❤♡ ─────────

[Night of the Jiyeon incident]

Dahyun was having a pretty great day so far.

She and Sana had been working all day and had some major clients that signed their contracts. She was currently listening to her favorite girl group, TWICE as she waited for her wife. Yeah, she was having an amazing time.

Unfortunately, her mood crumbled down with one phone call.

She groaned dramatically and muttered something unintelligible before answering the call, “Who’s this?” she asked, making sure she sounded extremely exasperated.

“This is Principal Cho. I’m calling about your daughter, Kim Yuri. Is this Kim Dahyun?”

This made her sit up in her chair. “Yeah, what happened? Is Yuri okay?”

“She got in a fight with another student. They’re both alright, but we do need you to come in. I’m sorry for the late call.”

“I’ll be there.” Dahyun grabbed her coat and rushed out of her office. She dialed Sana’s number on her way down to the garage and hopped into her car. She made sure to let her wife know about what's happening just so she won't worry.

In a blind fury, Dahyun drove like a maniac into Yuri’s school’s parking lot and staggered like a drunk person into the office. “Where’s my daughter?” she screamed calmly. The secretary looked up from her computer and her face went white.

“K-K-Kim Dahyun?” she stuttered as a very red blush crept over her cheeks.

“Yeah,” Dahyun affirmed, trying to gather her wits. “I’m here for Kim Yuri.”

“She’s in Principal Cho’s office, behind me, first door o-on the left.”

Dahyun nodded her thanks and passed her. She stepped into the principal’s office and saw Yuri and another girl sitting across the room from each other, each staring the other down with pure hatred in their eyes. Dahyun couldn’t help but flinch, she thought that Yuri would not have episodes again. There was a woman sitting next to the other girl, holding an oversized ice pack to her jaw, her eyes shooting daggers at Yuri.

“Ah, Mrs. Kim,” said the principal. “If you would take a seat, please.”

Dahyun obliged and glared at both girls as she took a seat next to her daughter. Dahyun always knew that her daughter inherited her short temperedness. But she thought that somehow being around Hana would make this slowly disappear. She always put off talking about it again with Yuri, but it seems that she waited too long.

“Hey,” Dahyun hissed out of the corner of .

Yuri curled in on herself slightly. It was barely noticeable. “I’m sorry, Mama,” she mumbled.

“Damn right you are,” Dahyun whispered.

“That demon you call your daughter,” the woman screeched, “attacked mine! I want her expelled!”

Dahyun heard Yuri growl quietly.

“Please, Mrs. Park,” said the principal. “We need to hear both the girl’s stories before we can take action. Jiyeon?”

“I didn’t do anything.” the kid said with a tiny smirk. “I was just talking to one of our friends and Yuri suddenly got mad and lunged at me.”

Dahyun sensed that there’s more to it, and she wanted to punch the kid herself.

“Alright. And what about you, Yuri?”

“I—” Yuri said, tears making her eyes shimmer. “I can’t— I don’t know.”

“See?” Jiyeon’s mom screamed. “Jiyeon didn’t do anything!”

Yuri was about to break down. This is the first time that Dahyun had seen her this devastated. She need to get her out of the room. “Sir, could I please have a moment to talk with my daughter?” Dahyun said.

“Go ahead, take all the time you need.”

“Hurry up!” snapped Mrs. Park, “We need to go home! It’s already dinner time! Your daughter shouldn’t have left the school earlier!”

The mother-daughter duo rushed out of the office and ducked into a nearby hallway.

“Yuri, what were you thinking? Were you thinking at all?” Dahyun whisper-shouted before her daughter could say anything. “I thought we already agreed not to let our anger get the best of us? You are strong for your age. You could have seriously hurt the girl.”

To her surprise, Yuri didn’t argue. Her daughter would always talk herself out of any situation, but not this time. She just lowered her head in shame and sadly muttered. “I’m sorry.”

“What really happened? And why did they say that you just went back to school?” Dahyun asked softly. “I know you wouldn’t just punch a kid over nothing. Is that the girl who courts Hana too?”

Yuri blushed and muttered that she didn’t know what Dahyun was talking about. Yeah, this kid’s a really bad liar. “Yuri.”

“Uhm, well, yeah, so uh…” Yuri sounded close to tears again and Dahyun could see that she was clearly upset about whatever the hell had happened. She felt her heart slowly break as Yuri struggled to choke the story out. “So, uhm… Jiyeon was bragging about how Hana would eventually accept her, and even though she saw that we were together, she continued to try and steal Hana away from me. I thought that I could take it, that I could handle it. I’m trying to get past this emotion…”

Get past it?

“I wanted to ignore her and I guess she just wanted to push my buttons more? So, uhm… she, well… uhm, she approached us when we were about to go out of the gym, and I just… my mind just went blank, and she continued to say that I am dangerous—”

Dahyun frowned. “Yuri.”

“...and uhm, that Hana would not be safe with me, that our family is not safe. I made sure that she's home safe before I got back here.” Yuri broke off her sentence abruptly with a strangled sob.

“Yuri, honey.” Dahyun said softly. “It wasn’t your fault. And you’re the most gentle when it comes to Hana, please tell me you know that.”

Yuri ignored her mama and continued to tell the rest of the story. “For days, she was trying to taunt me, I don’t know if she’s doing it on purpose or what… but she tells me that I am just someone with a mask on, and that she would unmask me.”

Needless to say, Dahyun was furious. Steaming, even. How could someone do this to her daughter? Her kid? One of the people that she loved so damn much? However, she remained calm for her daughter’s sake and rubbed her back comfortingly.

“Yuri, you know that’s not true, right?”

“I don’t know.”

Fresh sobs.

“Yuri,” Dahyun started. “Yuri, listen to me.” Hiccups. “What your aunt did was something that no one can easily overcome. And please know that we love you so much, and no matter what people say about our family, you know that we would always protect our loved ones, there’s no doubt about that. And I know that Hana adores you. That kid’s probably just jealous of you and she’s angry and she takes it out on you. That’s not your fault.” Dahyun smirked, “Her parents probably don’t love her as much as we do love you.” she added in a vain attempt to make Yuri laugh.

“You all love me?” Yuri croaked.

“Of course, we do! You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me, to your mom.” Dahyun said softly, holding her arms out. “Just don’t tell Yuna I said that.” Dahyun chuckled, as Yuri collapsed into her embrace and let out fresh sobs. Muffled cries rang through the empty halls. Dahyun rubbed her beloved daughter’s back. “Let it out, that’s it.” until Yuri was done.

When they went back to the office. Dahyun made Yuri tell the Principal what happened. Being the amazing parent she was, she supported Yuri through the ordeal and shot daggers at Jiyeon’s mother every time she huffed or scoffed at something she said. When she was done, the y woman huffed for the millionth time and sharply jumped to her feet, dragging her daughter with her. “Well that was a waste of time.” she spat, “I want her expelled. Let’s go, Jiyeon!”

“Mrs. Park!” the principal called after her. “I’m sorry, but it seems that both parties are at fault.” Looking back and forth between Jiyeon and Yuri, he said, “You will both be under observation. You both need to visit our guidance counselor every end of the week until you’ve cleaned up both of your acts. I won’t suspend you since you’re both important to the team, but we will implement a zero tolerance policy for violence in the future.”

Mrs. Park started screaming, and at this point, Dahyun was so damn sick of hearing her shrill voice. She decided it was best to grab Yuri and run before she committed an act of violence against that woman.

“Are you mad at me?” Yuri asked later in the car.

“I was,” Dahyun said, “But now, I’m not. What you did was wrong, but she was wrong too. I want to punch her too.”

Yuri chuckled and smiled at her mama.

“But you can’t do that again. You could’ve lost control. You could’ve hurt Hana too.”

“Yeah, I know.” Yuri bowed her head down.

“I love you, Yuri. You know that, right? If anything happened to you. I would kill everyone in the room and then myself.”

Yuri wiped her tears and said, “I love you too, Mama.”

She knows that she needs to talk to Hana’s parents before they overreact.

HANA

It’s funny how different people act when they’re happy.

Take Yuri for example. Years ago, no one would dare ask her about her past, and no one would think that she would warm up to tell them what she feels. Sure, it took Yuri a long time, but as soon as Hana learned about her past, she’d thrown her arms around her and almost crushed her with a hug.

Yuri and Hana. Acting like two strangers for the world in the beginning as if they never shared a history.

Hana giggled, thinking about the past, as she hugged her pillow tight.

She remembered frowning and rolling her eyes so much whenever Yuri teases her, but when she smiled, really smiled, all the mischievousness drained from her face, leaving the charming, beautiful girl she’d fallen for.

After they got home, her parents dragged her away, and she was unable to say her goodbyes to Yuri. It seems that her parents really don't want them together because they are influenced by other people’s scornful opinions. But Hana was already thinking of ways so that they’d somehow work it out. Letters, text messages, secret meetings, excuses like seeing their teachers, or just about anything… she knows that they can do it. If not… well, she didn’t like to think of the consequences.

Before the news reached her parents, they both loved Yuri. But after the trip, it seems that they would never let her forget who Yuri is— Yuri was— a troubled kid. She’d done some bad things because of her emotions, but that was not the real Yuri. That was just her mind messing everything up.

The real Yuri brought flowers for her and gazed longingly at her eyes, telling her that she was the most beautiful girl on the entire planet.

Hana sighed. Her parents would have to understand.

A flicker of doubt crossed her mind, something that she’d been pushing deep down since her parents first expressed their concern. Her parents had each other. Her brother had Mirai-unnie. They were a perfect match: loved by all, both had different circumstances, but there were no domineering family members to go against them, though her parent’s history is somehow dark in some way. She couldn’t help but feel a little jealous, when her brother was courting Mirai-unnie, her parents had been nothing but supportive, even when they are not always good for each other. But her parents hadn’t said a word, not wanting to cloud her brother’s happiness. Why wouldn’t they do the same for her?

But it doesn't matter. She would stand by Yuri no matter what happens, especially during the times when no one will. And she’d never let her go. Neither would Yuri. Someone would have to fight them, before they would walk away from each other. She is a different person now, and her love for the girl is almost the same as her love for her family.

Kim Yuri. Some saw her as the privileged, coddled Mama’s girl, some saw her as someone who has the biggest ego, but most people just saw her as someone dangerous. Ever since the issue with Jiyeon became known to others, they had dragged her name through the mud. As if they know a thing about what happened. They just know that Yuri punched Jiyeon, but they didn’t know anything besides that. There were mixed reactions from the crowd, some of them wanted nothing to do with Yuri anymore, while others supported her and told everyone that Yuri was a good person. But Yuri was just ignoring everyone else.

In Yuri’s world of darkness, she was one lone star that shone regardless of everything else that happened in the universe. That star, often Yuri’s only ray of hope on particularly trying days, was Kim Hana. She couldn’t really explain what they have, but it was something that she’d cherish forever.

They would face more difficulties, but ever since they got together, it was the best days of her life.

“Hana?” Yuri asked as soon as they reached her house the night of the outing.

“Yes, what is it, Yuri?”

I know that I'm not that active here, but I need more time to recharge my fluff battery, because I miss SaiDa so much and my thoughts are all dark right now. All the plots inside my head goes straight to the dark path, and I don't want that for our Yuri and Hana.

I also need so much more motivation as I think no one is really interested in this anymore.

Hope you're all okay!
