Fear and Loathing
From Here We Go SublimeINT. LIVING ROOM - JUNG RESIDENCE - NIGHT
JESSICA is watching TV. She’s flipping through the channels, uninterested and unable to pay attention. She keeps looking at the staircase, thinking each time she might’ve heard a noise coming from there. She sighs and turns the tv off.
As she makes her way to the top of the staircase, she finds herself looking at KRYSTAL’S door. She steps in front of it and lightly knocks. No answer. She knocks again.
JESSICA
Krystal?
No answer.
JESSICA slides her hand down the door and looks at it solemnly.
INT. C’EST CHIC - BACK OFFICE - NIGHT
VICTORIA is reapplying her lipstick in her compact mirror.
VICTORIA
Took you long enough this time.
KRYSTAL is seated behind VICTORIA’S grand desk.
KRYSTAL
I had no choice this time.
VICTORIA lifts an eye from the mirror.
VICTORIA
No choice?
KRYSTAL
I got section 12’d. Involuntary.
VICTORIA shuts her mirror and smirks at KRYSTAL.
VICTORIA
Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. What’d you do this time?
KRYSTAL sits up straight in her seat.
KRYSTAL
I’d rather not talk about it.
VICTORIA takes a seat on the desk beside KRYSTAL. She looks at KRYSTAL with an alluring gleam in her eye. She cups her chin in her hand.
VICTORIA
What did you do this time?
KRYSTAL shrinks in her seat.
KRYSTAL
My mother and I got into a fight. She called the cops. It's whatever.
VICTORIA
Was it physical?
KRYSTAL looks down at her feet, looking exposed.
VICTORIA
My poor girl.
VICTORIA pulls KRYSTAL her into her arms.
VICTORIA
(whispering into KRYSTAL’S ear)
You never learn do you.
KRYSTAL digs herself into VICTORIA’s chest. VICTORIA rubs the back of her head, comforting her. She lifts her face up by the chin and caresses the side of her cheek.
VICTORIA
Did you miss me?
KRYSTAL
Of course.
VICTORIA
Say it.
VICTORIA pulls KRYSTAL'S chair closer to her. KRYSTAL’S eyes widen in anticipation. VICTORIA throws one leg over KRYSTAL’s lap, and then, slowly, the other. She glides her finger around her lips.
KRYSTAL
I missed you. Very much.
VICTORIA pulls KRYSTAL in for a deep kiss.
EXT. OUTSIDE ON THE GAZEBO - JUNG RESIDENCE - DAY
The sky is bright, shining upon KRYSTAL’S face. The calm wind is blowing through her hair. She is sitting on the steps, smoking a cigarette.
JESSICA exits the backdoor and walks toward her.
JESSICA
Mother’s garden is so beautiful, isn’t it?
KRYSTAL looks over at the vast garden of roses. She takes in a deep breath before returning to her cigarette.
JESSICA
Or should I say, the gardeners who come to fix it up, only to receive complaints and racist remarks from mother, make it so beautiful?
KRYSTAL lets out a small laugh.
JESSICA
(in a mocking tone)
Oh my god, was that...was that a laugh? From Krystal Jung? Wow.
KRYSTAL’S lips fall back into a stoic shape.
JESSICA
(taking a seat beside KRYSTAL)
I couldn’t sleep last night. Could you?
KRYSTAL takes in a deep drag of her cigarette.
JESSICA
Actually, you were knocked out, weren’t you? You were so quiet last night. I knocked on your door and you must’ve been so out of it that you didn’t hear me.
KRYSTAL exhales smoke.
KRYSTAL
(groggily)
I was tired.
JESSICA gives her a pitying smile.
JESSICA
I bet you were.
JESSICA lifts her chin up to the sky. Breathing in the crisp air.
JESSICA
It feels so good here! I forgot how nice it was. You know, in Seattle, the rain really gets you down sometimes. It has its charm, but it’s nothing compared to this.
KRYSTAL puts out her cigarette and lights another one.
JESSICA
That really isn’t good for you, you know. You’re too pretty to be a smoker.
KRYSTAL exhales smoke.
JESSICA
But I'm sure y
