“Can you please switch off your phone, or at least silent it?” I asked Kyungsoo as I pinched the bridge of my nose. We haven’t even started baking, from the moment Kyungsoo drove off from the school’s parking lot his phone was bombarded with phone calls from Chanyeol and when the phone call goes without Kyungsoo answering it an annoying number of ‘dings’ come in.

We had just finished shopping for supplies for the bake and stepped into my house, but the annoying number of calls were starting to give me a headache. Kyungsoo didn’t seem effected by it at all, in fact he was so good at ignoring it I thought he was deaf. “Let me just answer this one” Kyungsoo said after he finished eating his popsicle. “Oh, it’s a video call!”

“Hello, hello? Is this a dream, did you finally decide to pick up my calls?” Chanyeol said from the phone. I decided to give Kyungsoo privacy for his phone call and tied my hair in a ponytail before getting to work. Getting all the mixing bowls that I needed out and the electrical mixer connected to the socket. I was laying the baking trays I was going to use on top of the kitchen counters before rummaging the plastic bags for all the ingredients.

I succeeded in ignoring their conversation until I heard my name come from Chanyeol. “Ugh, Dongyi looks like wife material right now!” I turned around and faced a Kyungsoo who was trying to suppress his laugh. His phone was pointing in my direction, he must’ve flipped the camera to the front one. “Wait! Did she hear that? Aren’t you wearing earphones right now? Oh my god, Kyungsoo!” Chanyeol’s voice was panicky now and Kyungsoo let out a hearty laugh.

I looked straight into the camera “You’re disgusting, Park Chanyeol!”

“Right back at you, Lee Dongyi!” He shouted back but I couldn’t help but laugh because he sounded embarrassed at being caught checking me out. I’ll let you in a little secret: when we’re not shouting or rage whispering at each other I, too, check Chanyeol out. Especially when he’s not talking. I admit, he has quite a handsome face, but he doesn’t need to know that I think that. Not when the next second he sees me he’ll put his mouth into use and I would think that his entire face should be shoved underwater.

“That’s not what I heard you said about me just now” I grinned and not a second later I received my satisfaction as I heard Chanyeol’s deep groan coming from the phone and I knew: I won.

“Do you want me to hang up so that you can enjoy a nice date with Kyungsoo?” Chanyeol’s deep voice grumbled reluctantly from across the counter as I brought out my own phone to check the recipe that I had screen captured a week earlier. Kyungsoo was laughing hard in amusement, apparently, he thinks that Chanyeol thinking that we were going out with each other is funny business.

I made my way over to Kyungsoo’s side and he flipped the camera back to the front and I could see myself enter the screen next to him. Chanyeol looked like he was in his room, that was only lit by a small lamp on his table. His hair was messily wet, and he had a towel hung around his neck. He wore glasses that enlarged his eyes even more than it originally is. Chanyeol had his eyebrows knitted together. “We’re not on a date, Chanyeol” I sighed “I’m asking for help to bake for Kang Somi’s birthday” I don’t even know why I’m explaining myself.

“Too near” He said in a deep menacing voice. I glanced at Kyungsoo in confusion and Kyungsoo smiled but shrugged.

“What do you-”

“You guys are standing too close to each other” Chanyeol said, pretending to be busy, not even looking at his phone’s direction. I looked at Kyungsoo, who was sniggering, and realise that we were standing shoulder-to-shoulder. I took a step sideways without even knowing why. Why am I so obedient to Chanyeol these days? Are the visions affecting me more that I’d like to think?

“Are you happy now?” I asked and Chanyeol scrunched his eyebrows.

“Whatever, I don’t really care what you do” Chanyeol said quickly “Bye” and he hung up. Before the screen faded to black I could catch a hint of smile from Chanyeol’s lips and I couldn’t help but smile too.
