I reached school early with a bag full of chocolates the next day. I was going to bribe Somi with all the chocolate I could afford to exchange seats with me because Chanyeol sat next to me in every class we share. As I made my way to my locker and caught sight of a familiar boy I cursed to myself under my breath. Park Chanyeol stood in front of his locker, which was coincidentally next to mine. He was chatting animatedly with Do Kyungsoo, a huge grin plastered on Chanyeol’s face while a grimace crept up Kyungsoo’s.

Please ignore me. I opened my locker and took whatever books I needed and stuffed everything in a hurry in my bag. Please ignore me. I slammed my locker shut. Please igno-

“Good morning, alien!” Chanyeol chirped up “You look extra sullen today, what happened? Did you accidentally eat a lizard’s tail or something?” I gave him a disgusted look. Someone’s in a good mood today, he was smiling so widely. He then opened his locker and grabbed a packed sandwich then tossed it to me. “My mom made extras and she forgot that I think cucumbers are disgusting, so I’m giving that to you… Since you like disgusting things” He said. I wanted to push it back to him, but he pushed my hands away. “Keep it!”

I didn’t want to say anything to him. I’m supposed to ignore him, so I turned to Kyungsoo and offered a small smile. “Morning, Kyungsoo” I could feel Chanyeol’s eyes glued on my face and from my peripheral vision I could see that he had an eyebrow raised. I have never talked to Do Kyungsoo in school but after the pleasant dinner yesterday and the news that he was going to be my step brother I think we should start establishing good relations with each other.

“Morning, Dongyi, had a good morning?” Kyungsoo asked softly and, I swear, Chanyeol whipped his head to stare at his best friend so fast that I could hear his neck crack.

“I had a perfect morning up until five minutes ago” I said and Kyungsoo smiled.

“I get what you mean, mine too” and I could hear a small groan from Chanyeol.

“Did you have breakfast?”

“I drank a cup of tea”

“Oh, would you like a sandwich?” I offered the one that Chanyeol just gave me and now Kyungsoo really laughed.

“Hey, you can’t give my sandwich away! That’s for you!” Chanyeol was scowling with a hand outstretched trying to push back my hand that was giving his sandwich to Kyungsoo.

Kyungsoo looked amused and I really didn’t want to say anything to Chanyeol, I didn’t even look at his face. My eyes dropped to stare at his hand. They looked large compared to mine.

Suddenly the school came out of focus and another vision invaded my mind. Everywhere around me were cherry blossoms. Pink petals that dropped to the ground swirled when the wind blew a gentle breeze. I could feel a wide smile on my face as I walked, just taking in the lovely view of the trees. “Beautiful” I heard myself say and I felt someone grab my hand from behind. A large warm and safe hand intertwined with my tiny one and twirled me on the spot. “You’re beautiful” The deep gruff voice said, and I didn’t need to focus my glance at the person to know who he was.
