CHAPTER 005
Lost Stars005
I have never been exposed to Chanyeol when he interacts with Kyungsoo. The three of us never shared any classes together and Chanyeol was always trying to get on my last nerve in our classes. I was munching on my fries as I watched Chanyeol talk non-stop to Kyungsoo who was looking so done. The waitress came with our drinks and Chanyeol got distracted with how delicious-looking his strawberry milkshake was.
A soft kick came from under the table and I winced. Kyungsoo looked at me with an unamused expression and jerked his head a little to Chanyeol. He was obviously asking why I had invited the to our sibling-bonding dinner time. I shrugged because I didn’t know why I did it either.
Honestly, I don’t know why Chanyeol was such a jerk to me because looking at him gushing at his drink right now I feel like I’m watching a small child. “Dongyi, your drink looks like second place next to mine, just like you!” He said with a smirk. My attention was suddenly on my coke float.
I scoffed. “Why do you always have to one up me?” I looked away, biting back a smile before adding “Jerk!” I realised that it was true, Chanyeol has been trying to be better than me since the first time we met but this time it was so trivial that I can’t help but smile and Chanyeol laughed. I decided that I like Chanyeol’s genuine laugh, I’ve heard him laugh before but it was always directed to my misery. The whole interaction didn’t go unnoticed by Do Kyungsoo though: I was fraternising with the enemy. One eyebrow quirked up with a ghost of an amused smile graced his face.
“Dongyi, I’ll send you home tomorrow too” Kyungsoo said quietly, silencing Chanyeol’s laughter. I nodded, Kyungsoo must have some reason why he won’t tell Chanyeol about his father’s remarriage and I don’t intend on getting into their business.
“My mom won’t be home till late tomorrow, do you want to help me bake cookies?” Might as well give this whole sibling-bonding a go. Somi’s birthday was coming soon and she loves receiving edibles. Last year I already made her homemade chocolates in the shape of her favourite animals. This year, she was starting to get into flowers, so I was thinking of making her floral cookies with accurate details because that’s what turns Somi on: details. I carved last year’s gifts with so much detail my hands hurt for three weeks and my back ached for longer. I was thankful that Chanyeol left me alone for a week at that time because the pain was evident on my face whenever Somi stepped out.
Chanyeol choked on his milkshake. “Perfection was too much for you?” I asked with a smirk as Kyungsoo handed him a napkin and the end of his flappy ears turned red.
