Chapter Thirteen
He Wouldn'tIt had been explained to the rest of the group that the doctor had told Jungkook that he was getting over a nasty viral infection meaning he needed to rest. And the members who didn’t already know about Jungkook’s pregnancy had accepted that explanation without question. He'd been tired and lethargic and had no appetitie to speak of. A lingering viral infection made sense.
And Jungkook… well since his dating scan Jungkook had seemed a lot happier. Yoongi thought a big part of that was the fact he now knew his his baby was developing as it should be but he thought it might also be because he was still being allowed to promote. After his appointment they’d spent a manic day and a half in the dance studio amending their choreography so that less of it fell on Jungkook and he'd been banned from participating in any dry runs or rehearsals going forward, but he was still allowed to be part of the group, he was still being allowed to perform and that must be reassuring to him. It meant that management’s promise to keep him part of BTS after the baby was born wasn’t an empty one.
But yes, Jungkook was promoting with them, doing his best during live performances, and participating actively in interviews and in variety shows, all enthusiasm and bright smiles. He’d admitted to Yoongi that hewas finding things more tiring than usual but there’d been a smile on his face when he’d said it and he’d never shied away from hard work so Yoongi wasn’t too worried. As long as they kept an eye on him and made sure he was getting enough rest and eating enough food he’d be fine.
Jin though, Jin was not joining in enthusiastically in interviews and variety shows. He’d not been entirely with it during rehearsals either, missing cues and forgetting steps and while that happened to everyone from time to time Yoongi was a little concerned. Jin had been stressing himself out about Jungkook and his pregnancy for weeks now. He as so focussed on looking out for their maknae that Yoongi didn’t think he was looking after himself. He was so focussed on making sure Jungkook was eating that he neglected to eat himself, so intent on making sure Jungkook was getting enough sleep that he’d refuse to go to bed until he knew Jungkook was asleep. That couldn’t be good for him.
And it wasn’t just Jin’s physical wellbeing Yoongi was worried about, it was his mental health too. Stress, worry, anxiety, guilt… Yoongi could see all of those things eating away at him. And ever since Jungkook had come back from his dating scan it had only gotten worse. Yoongi had caught him on more than one occasion staring off into space, a sad look in his eyes. Yoongi had asked him about it but Jin had just told him he was imagining things. He was sure he wasn’t. He’d known Jin long enough to know when he was unhappy about something and he was clearly unhappy.
And while he didn’t know the reason for Jin’s sudden melancholy there was one person he knew wasn’t helping and that was Namjoon. He was still going out of his way to avoid speaking to Jin and as much as Jin was trying to pretend that this didn’t bother him Yoongi could see right through him. They’d always been close so every time Namjoon gave him a short answer or asked Hoseok for advice instead of him it had to sting.
Well he’d had enough. Namjoon had every right to be upset about being kept in the dark but that didn’t give him
