*****
The night was advanced somewhere in Nanjing, the moon shining brightly down onto the sleeping streets when a lone figure time and again shifted over the sheets of a comfy hotel bed. Fluffy short hair coloured a soft auburn brown was messily dishevelled when the figure to his stomach and snuggled his face deeper into a plush pillow. The hotel phone was tugged between his left ear and hand, eyelids lowered drowsily when a slight smile played over plump lips.
“YunHo-yah, are you sleeping already?” he muttered against the pillow when the other hadn't responded for the last ten minutes. Ever since JaeJoong had stepped into his hotel room after his fanmeeting, he and YunHo had talked over the telephone, asking about their day, laughing and sighing contently every now and then. This was over five hours ago and neither wanted to end the call despite it being already way past midnight.
“M wake, Joongie,” YunHo slurred drowsily from the other end after another minute filled with silence. Time and again JaeJoong was able to hear the ruffling of sheets when YunHo turned in his bed.
JaeJoong chuckled softly when YunHo muttered incoherent things he couldn't quite understand. He was already used to that, though this time it seemed as if YunHo's voice was quite muffled. “Are you hugging the pillow?” he asked in amusement, snuggling a bit deeper into his own. He sighed contently at the fluffiness of it, turning his head a bit more to the left for a better conversation.
It lasted a few seconds before YunHo's low voice vibrated through his ears once more, “I might be.” A satisfied smile scurried over JaeJoong's lips, his eyes closed. He hummed a soft tune, accompanied by YunHo's low voice sleepily singing the song on his mind, “I might be kissing the sheets and I might be hugging the pillow all night long, but I don't mind 'cause I have you on my mind.” It was JaeJoong's time now to drift off into the embrace of sleep slowly, breathing evening out when he slagged more against the mattress.
“JaeJoong-ah,” YunHo breathed after a few minutes, JaeJoong humming a drowsy response for the other to continue, “Tell me again what you liked the most about your fanmeeting.”
JaeJoong sighed softly, turning on his side with his right hand tugged under the pillow before he sleepily slurred, “Red ocean.”
YunHo chuckled softly, more awake than he had been fifteen minutes ago. “Not that one. The other.”
A soft smile was tugging on JaeJoong's lips when he replied, “The YunJae LED.”
A low hum from YunHo reached his ears, the bed sheets rustling once more when YunHo turned in his bed. “Not quite that one.”
Upon hearing those words a wide and beautiful smile was stretching over JaeJoong's plush lips. “They were chanting your name, as though you would miraculously appear before them,” he mumbled, opening his eyes slightly. “It would've been nice,” he whispered, snuggling a bit deeper into the mattress.
“Jae,” YunHo muttered, now wide awake compared to JaeJoong whose eyes were closed tightly and lips mumbling without thinking.
“Yunnie,” JaeJoong slurred. “I misschu callin me that name.” It was a whispered whine and YunHo was barely able to catch the words JaeJoong muttered in his combined state of wakefulness and drowsiness.
“BooJae,” YunHo breathed, a satisfied hum pearling from JaeJoong's lips. He was barely awake when he puckered his lips in an attempt to kiss YunHo goodnight. He made contact with his sheets, but he didn't mind. It lasted another five minutes before YunHo's voice filled the speaker again, and by then, JaeJoong was already sound asleep.
“Good night, BooJae. I'll kiss you goodnight tomorrow night,” YunHo muttered, unheard by the sleeping one. The line was cut shortly after, a soft 'toot toot' vibrating through the darkened room whilst the speaker fell out of JaeJoong's left hand. It wasn't the first time that one of them fell asleep on the phone, after all, this was just the way they lived.
