It seemed like, once the first non-date was out of the way, there was nothing stopping Jae from doing whatever he wanted when it came to Ellie. During the week it seemed like they were both busy with work, and Ellie with school, but he was always there to mess with her in Music Appreciation; her phone was almost always receiving a message from him, until she got to the point when she simply began to expect it – always a dangerous sign in the past, but it was a risk she couldn’t help taking this time.   The weekend seemed to be their prime time, and Jae made use of it as soon as it came; when class ended he double checked her schedule for the day and then immediately informed her of their new plans for the afternoon, giving her a two-hour window to go back to her dorm and get herself ready for it. For Jae, this was quite generous; it gave Ellie time to take the shower she had skipped that morning running late, and to really put thought and effort into an outfit and hair. By the time her window was up she was ready, in a light, colorful infinity scarf over a white tank top, jeans and multicolored flats, her hair coaxed up into a high puff. She didn’t bother waiting on Jae to call – or worse, to come looking for her – instead leaving her dorm room as soon as she finished and heading downstairs.   She reached the lobby just as he was walking into the building, still dressed, of course, in the clothes she’d seen him in in class: a blue and white pin striped button up shirt – one sleeve of which rolled up to his elbow, the other swallowing his hand completely – over a white T-shirt and black shorts, blue and white Vans on his feet and tube socks worn to his calves. His eyes landed on her as he ventured in and he paused, his eyebrows raising.   “…You’re getting better,” he commented after a moment, blinking as he pointed at her. Ellie smirked as she walked up to him.   “Pretty soon I’ll be harassing you at your place to get ready.”   “God, I hope so.” As they had done before he turned and led her out of the building, to his car; Ellie already felt comfortable here, she was surprised to realize, and she settled easily into a seat whose adjustments hadn’t been changed since the last time she had been in it.   “What’s on the agenda for today?” she inquired as they pulled away from the curb. “More food?”   “Probably,” he responded, making her laugh a little. “What? I’m always hungry.”   “Yeah, I see that.”   “There’s a place I wanted to take you,” he went on to explain as he reached over to change the song playing on his satellite radio, “and there will be food there…which I will probably eat.”   “Alright; lead the way, then.”   In a matter of forty minutes they were in the city, venturing into the Westwood area. Ellie could see hints of there being a university in the area, and remembered suddenly that Jae studied for his Masters at UCLA; she looked around her intently at the neighborhood that she assumed Jae frequented often, her interest piqued. Their destination was Luna, a small sized café on Weyburn Avenue; Jae found parking in the small lot around the corner and they walked together into the building, met with the aroma of coffee and the sounds of conversation and live music in the air.
