August   Finals were around the corner.   For Ellie, technically, it was only one final, but that didn’t make much of a difference. Ellie was determined to get the best grade possible in this Music Appreciation class, so that she would never have to dedicate time or energy to it again, especially not after the next semester started.   She took the notes that she had collected over the past two months with her to work, and studied terms and dates in between rushes. Her final was coming up that Monday, and she wanted to be able to see these notes with her eyes closed; this was the best way she could figure out how to make that possible. The lunch rush ended and the café calmed down considerably; Ellie didn’t hesitate to tuck herself into the space that she normally used for writing, to resume her studies. Ellie, who was used to this by now, only shook her head at him.   “Not yet,” she responded. “I was probably going to go in another half hour or so.”   “Alright, cool; I’ll quiz you then,” Jae declared, turning his attention to Ellie’s coworker. “Hey, bartender…”   For the half hour left before Ellie’s break, Jae surprisingly kept to himself; between customers and notes she would look over to find him settled into one spot at a nea
