June   Ellie had never taken a summer class at AIAS.   She’d never really had the chance to do so, either. It was the summer before her sophomore year at the Alexander Institute of Arts and Sciences, and she wasn’t entirely sure that freshmen were even allowed to take a summer class before experiencing a full semester. She hadn’t had any desire to take a summer class, either, if she was being honest, but necessity had changed her plans for her.   AIAS’s one and only summer session began during the first week of June, and on the first day she found herself getting dressed for the day, pulling on jeans and a light, black oversized shirt that sat slightly off of one hazelnut brown shoulder, and simultaneously disguised the generous curves of her body. Her dark brown hair was already in two flat twists against her head, pinned in a small cluster at the back. It looked presentable, and she didn’t feel like being bothered with it, anyway; she left it as it was and adorned herself with a few pairs of earrings, letting her black, square framed glasses frame her brown eyes, and finish off the typical personality of her face. She stopped briefly in front of the mirror in her dorm room and decided that it was good enough for her plans for the day, stopping to grab her bag and dorm key on her way out of the door. Her summer class wasn’t for another two hours, but she was leaving early to stop by the student center for a bubble tea and some mental preparation before she submitted herself to a two-hour class every day of the week.   She was met with sunlight and a small, warm breeze as she emerged from the Second House, which acted as the dormitory for all AIAS students attending on an academic scholarship. It was a lot different from the weather she had been accustomed to feeling, having spent her previous Junes in Houston, and even after a year of living in California she still wasn’t used to it; her body, which had tensed in preparation for the pressing, sweltering heat that she had been expecting, relaxed, and she turned herself in the direction of the gargantuan student center at the very center of the campus.   Many students opted to stay on campus for the summer instead of returning to their homes, and she could see some of them strolling around the campus as she walked, unable to keep from noticing the guys in particular, First House athletes
