CHAPTER SIX
Kyungsoo stepped in the meeting room and felt the tense air as the General was already present. He saluted at the General before proceeding to the back of the room, as only the highest ranking officers were sitting at the oval table. He stood next to a woman who he didn’t know, but he smelled the vampire coming off of the woman. He straightened up his shoulders and waited for the meeting to start. As the last people came into the room, the doors closed and the lights went on. The General stood up straight, with the lights reflecting his many badges on his chest and shoulders. He saluted at the room and motioned for everyone to sit down.   “Greetings to all of you, it’s good to be back in Korea again. For the new recruits or the officers who have never met me before, my name is Nichkhun Horvejkul, better known as Eliodoro Noble the Casila Elite General of Human Defence. Ranking second on the Vampire Rankings, I hope you will let me take your time and attention for this important meeting.”   Nichkhun motioned at a man sitting next to Taeyeon, who Kyungsoo recognised as Elite Major Lee Jinki, a vampire he used to train with when he was a mere private. Jinki stood straight and saluted Nichkhun, before turning to the rest of the room.   “Last week our Elite Colonel Kim Taeyeon and Elite First Lieutenant Do Kyungsoo were on a mission to investigate the assassinations of ranking vampires. We came here because of an important discovery made by an anonymous source. The attacker, only known as Cerberus Nachtzehrer is an unknown species and also an unsure enemy. Both our source and rumours say that he was a naturally born werewolf and genetically modified vampire, making him a hybrid, of what it seems. This is still unclear.”   Whispers starting to get louder and louder as Kyungsoo tried to calm down his werewolf hearing. He stared at Taeyeon, who seemed to be calmer than her glass of water at the moment and took deep breaths. General Nichkhun smashed his right fist on the table and silence filled the room in an instant again. He nodded for Elite Major Jinki to continue.   “With Cerberus now eligible to appear on the Vampire Rankings, it seems that the pattern we see in our victims is him going after ranked vampires. Two and a half weeks ago he started with #150 and he has been going up in ranking ever since. Before his encounter with Elite Colonel Taeyeon it seems like his last victim was already below #100. We want to ask all of our ranking vampires to look out for themselves and try not to travel alone too much. He hasn’t been attacking in crowded places yet, but we never know what will happen nor what his intentions are.”   Jinki sat down and Kyungsoo felt the same tense air from the beginning multiplied by hundreds of awkward jokes. General Nichkhun stood up once again.   “Thank you, Elite Major Lee Jinki. Now I have one more announcement. From the Casila HQ Rome, an old agent has joined us once again, please welcome Kharis Frost, Elite Captain Jung Soojung. You are all dismissed now.”   The big meeting room was slowly emptying, the higher ranked officers waiting for the lower ranks to get out of the room first as a custom. Just before he was about to walk out, Taeyeon stopped Kyungsoo by his arm.   “Kyungsoo-yah, you have another meeting.”   He confusedly looked at Taeyeon but followed her anyway.   -0-0-0-0-   Kyungsoo wasn't sure what to expect when Taeyeon took him to the other meeting, but he sure wasn't expecting to be standing in General Nichkhun’s office, standing in between Taeyeon and Soojung. He nervously shifted from his left to right foot and vice versa until Soojung glared at him and he straightened his back.   As if on cue, General Nichkhun entered with two women and a man behind him.
