Shards of UsIf he wanted it that way, she would leave it that way because maybe they needed a break, she needed a break. After all, what did he need her for anyway? The company was his and he did a spectacular job running it. In fact, Hana often found herself proud of her husband. Despite all the thoughts, this wasn't a break. This was much more than that, a possible end. She wiped another tear for him followed by a deep sigh because it was different, something she found hard to accept. She was really going to leave him behind and he was going to be okay with it. Worst, she missed him more than she thought.
Jongin invited himself to a spot next to her as the two occupied the top of the stairs to his house. She said she wanted fresh air after his family doctor left, but the air must have gotten her thinking again and she found herself crying over her husband because a pregnant woman was also one with a lot of emotions.
“Are you really going to be okay? Should I just go over there and talk with him?” Jongin said as he took a seat beside her. He handed her a tissue. His neck craned her way to see if his friend was really as good as she said she was.
She gladly took the tissue and nodded, afraid a loud sob would come out if she dared speak.
“Here you dropped this earlier,” he opened the palm of his hands and Baekhyun's ring rolled down a few steps in front of them. All she could do was let out a whimper because this was the reality, a reality she had a hard time facing. Her husband really did take his ring off.
“About earlier, I really meant it, Hana. I'm sorry I have to leave. My father wants me in New Zealand for work purposes. I'm not sure when I'll be back, but it'll be long.” He got up to retrieve the ring. On his way back, the look Hana gave him was genuinely heartbreaking. Her eyes were red, puffy and filled with sadness. “Hana, don't look at me like that. If you keep crying and being sad, your baby will also feel the pain. You don't want that, do you? I can't have you living by yourself for now. In your current condition, I don't know what you could do. You're so naive. I won't have time to call and check up on you,” he tried to explain himself. He opened the palm of her small hand and placed the ring inside. He closed her palm back up to make sure she tightly wrapped it. “Keep it safe. Hold onto this tight. Hold onto it as tight as you want to keep your marriage together,” he said as he squeezed her hand shut.
She pleaded with her eyes and he knew exactly what she wanted. “No. That's final. You're not living here while I'm gone,” he said with frustration. This was exactly why he was single. Girls were too much work, simply too hard to handle. “Look, Sehun promised me no funny business,” he gently said. He kneeled in front of her as if he was caring for a crying child and took her hands so she would look his way. “If anything happens, call me. I'll have my phone on me at all times. “ He smiled at her as if his smile could bring her the joy she needed. “I think Baekhyun will be looking for you in no time,” he helped her up and all she could do was let her waterworks run. He pulled her close and held her tight as she cried into his already soaked shirt. He smiled in return because Jongin was never wrong.
As a man and a husband he was also responsible for his wife, his woman, so he decided he would sincerely apologize first. He couldn't quite understand what good a wife was when he always lived in misery. Being forced to sincerely apologize and doing so because he wanted to were two very different things. In this case, he was doing the latter.
Regardless of the frustration, he had built up, he had to admit, he was a bit harsh. For one thing, he definitely didn't have the right to do such a thing to her in the beginning. After all, he had his fair share of affairs. Although she caused him a lot of trouble, fear actually struck him for the first time since their marriage. The fact that Hana was strong enough to leave him at any given time was a shiver that was sent righ
