Shards of UsThoughts ran through his head as he sat in his office early in the morning. Even if it was the same thoughts continuously, they were unresolved and frankly driving him towards insanity. The neglected paperwork that his secretary had brought him last week was sprawled across his desk. His computer now black from departing from it for too long. He ruffled his hair and rubbed his temples to try to concentrate hard on the work that was piling up. His brows furrowed in frustration and anger at himself.
“Minji, I...I think we should stop seeing each other,” he huffed a sigh.
They laid in bed after work, he in his charcoal grey suit and her in a black dress, just talking about nothing in particular. He, however, always talked about Hana. Hana this. Hana that. Hana, a topic she made crystal clear she hated.
“Why? I thought you loved me, Oppa? Is your wife causing you stress?” she asked, interrupting the man in mid-sentence about Hana.
Minji leaned in closer to undo the buttons on his dress shirt, but he gently placed his hands on hers to stop her from going further. She pouted and rested her head on his chest in exchange.
He shook his head as if it would make the thoughts scram away from him. He took off his specs and did some more rubbing as if the thoughts were sitting in his eyes.
Baekhyun didn't quite know why Minji meant so much more to him. She wasn't loyal and he knew that. Maybe, it was the fact that he knew he wasn't loyal himself that he kept himself by her side because dragging someone else down with him definitely seemed like a good idea at the moment. He kept convincing himself that they were just friends, but friends just don't spend nights together. He let a frustrated groan as that night replayed in his head, the confusion continuously circling him.
“Sir? Mr. Byun?!” his secretary called. His head peeked through from the door as he made sure it was alright for him to come in.
Baekhyun sat up from his slouched position. His eyes widened in alert. He had been so distracted he didn't even hear the door to his office open like he usually would. He looked at his secretary, giving him the attention he wanted.
“Mr. Oh Sehun has arrived.”
Baekhyun nodded his head once, understanding what time it was.
“Bring him in. It’s been a long time,” he coolly said as he tried to hide the nervousness.
Sehun was scheduled long weeks before, and quite honestly Baekhyun spent the long weeks wondering how to handle the situation. Professionally, he had decided.
“He insists on greeting Hana first.”
That ticked off one nerve because he knew Sehun wasn’t really here for business after all. He had kept Sehun’s appointment away from her, and now that seemed to be quickly backfiring.
“Well then. What are you doing? Summon them both, and it’ll be just like a family reunion.”
Or maybe not. Now as he stared at his brother from the tip of his bangs to the end of his shiny, black loafers, it was as if this was their first time meeting ever. His cocky stance has softened over the years to be more relaxed accompanied by a welcoming and mature smile. And, if he couldn't be more wrong, he seemed to have grown just a little bit taller than the last time Baekhyun saw him. It was quite refreshing on Baekhyun’s behalf.
“Ah, just the person I was looking for,” the guest commented shortly after coming through the doors, “And Hana.” She walked through the doors past him to be by her husband's side.
Baekhyun scoffed at his lie and the obvious gaze he had set on Hana. The unfazed look in her eyes contradicted the ever-widening grin on Sehun which made Baekhyun feel somehow more relaxed--like they were finally on one, unanimous side.
“Sehun is here on behalf of Kim Brewery,” Baekhyun greeted his wife.
Hana nodded her head, listening to his introduction as if this was her first time meeting the man.
“Please, have a seat.”
Baekhyun gestured towards the chairs in front of his desk to which Sehun took one while his wife was still in question as to why this concerned her. She insisted on standing behind her husband as he took his seat behind the desk. Her hand held
