Shards of Us“Wait, Baekhyun. It’s not what you think,” she shouted towards the man who just opened the doors to her office, the same man she called her husband. Hana didn’t spare a second glance at Sehun, but she knew he was satisfied with his act, his facial expression, innocent.
Baekhyun dropped his bag of take-out on the nicely waxed tiles. His fists were clenched tightly as he stormed his way over to Sehun. For once he decided to do something nice when he stepped out of the building for some fresh air and he walked in on this?!
“Baekhyun, w...wait. I can explain.” She stood between the two men as they towered over her, one full of anger and the other stoic.
“Explain what?!”How this is just a casual fling?! You can’t just go around kissing men, Hana! Especially, if it has to do anything with this one!” he pointed toward Sehun.
Baekhyun shoved his wife aside. She had a soft landing as she hit the leather couch, but with her womb still fragile in the early semester, she winced as a sharp pain darted her lower abdomen. He faced the younger male, fuming with anger, something he needed to learn how to control. He grabbed the taller man as he stretched his own legs to meet his height.
“You haven't even been back for a month and this is what you go around doing?!” Baekhyun tightly held the collar of Sehun's dress shirt with both hands.
“You've been holding your head higher now that you're a big shot CEO,” Sehun smirked at Baekhyun. The way he let out a short chuckle before the statement to mock him ticked Baekhyun off more.
“Baekhyun, stop before someone hears you,” Hana pleaded, but not once did he take his glance off Sehun.
Sehun looked over to Hana, his lips curved into a mischievous smirk. “She didn't pull away,” he ridiculed, his eyebrows raised in amusement.
Baekhyun wasn’t quite sure what to call the surge of emotions he had in him at the moment. In fact, he had never felt this way about anyone, especially her. Before he knew it, he found his fist being carried away as he made contact with Sehun’s left jaw.
“Baekhyun, stop!” Hana yelled, but her frantic panic and shouts were gone unheard between the two men. There was no way her own strength would win the two, and so she found herself moving fast towards the doors and on her way to find Secretary Kim.
Sehun stumbled back, his jaw a little sore as he moved it around. He found this absolutely thrilling. He sent his elder step brother a taste of his own medicine. Before they knew it, the two were wrestling each other and sending all the non-stationary items to the floor as if they were little kids again, fighting over the stupidest things. However, this time, this time was different because the “stupid thing” was Sehun's old lover and Baekhyun's supposedly significant other, something not so stupid.
“What's wrong with you two?!” Mr. Kim ran inside and closed the doors rather abruptly. He pulled the grown men apart, using much of his old strength between the youngsters.
“Cut it out. People are starting to wonder,” he warned.
Baekhyun flared his nose at Sehun. He fixed his posture along with his suit as he stormed out of the room. He fluffed his hair as he moved towards the door, making sure the stray pieces came back into place. He looked Hana in the eyes with a hint of hatred as he brushed past her shoulders.
“You’re…” she began as she held out a napkin to him. Her hand mirrored where his cut was located. He gave her a cold stare as he continued walking away.
I'm sorry. I really am.
“Hana, I'm s…,” Sehun started as soon as the door closed behind Baekhyun.
“Get out,” she demanded, her own voice upset and full of anger.
“But, I…”
“Sehun, if you stay any longer. I will make sure this is the last of us,” she threatened. To him, it was a threat, but to her, she wanted it to happen, a dream come true.
The delayed guilt began to build inside her. She looked at the plastic bag filled with take-out settled on the floor where Baekhyun had entered. Hana needed any possible reason to go see her husband at the moment. The wrongdoing was slowly eating her up.
Baekhyun sat in his hollow office. He stared into the black computer screen as he used it as a mirror. He tried to make out the cut on the corner of his lips.
