Life in the Jung-Min House
A/N References to chapter 2 will be made and this will be moved to chapter 16 when the rest of the Quinceanera chapters are published

“We need to do something great for eomma and now is our only chance,” were the first words out of Jungkook’s mouth when he sat down across his two youngest siblings.

All he got were blank stares, one was more annoyed, in response.

“Hi, oppa. How have you been? We’ve been good. School is great and Winter is doing amazing as always while I do the usual. How’s the idol world treating you?”

Jungkook rolled his at his sister’s dramatics, “It’s only been a month since I’ve seen you two, calm down.”

Mariska scoffed as she crossed her arms and leaned back away from the table, “Exactly, butthead. A month. We went from seeing each other literally every day, to who knows how long. And you don’t even respond to the groupchat, unlike Taehyung oppa and Jimin oppa. , we still live under the same roof and we never see you.”

“I didn’t call you two here so you can point out my schedule, alright.”

“Then why did you call us here, hyung? It isn’t really like you to invite us out anywhere,” Winter decided it would be best if he stepped in before Mariska got too worked up.

“Wow, Winter, thanks for making me feel like I deserve hyung of the year.”

Winter put his hands up in defense, “I mean it’s the truth! If anything, it’s your fault for being a towards us.”

“It’s your guys fault for being annoying! You know what, no! I didn’t call you two here for this! I called you guys here to discuss eomma’s birthday. It’s coming up and coming up fast and we need to do something great because we’ve never done anything great for her.”

Mariska grabbed her iced coffee and took a sip of it before speaking, “She likes what we always do though. Mama likes her stuff downplayed,” the teen girl shrugged.

“You’re not thinking of doing something like uncle Junhyuk does, right hyung?” Winter had a bit of fear and worry in his eyes as he looked at Jungkook as if he just escaped a mental hospital.

Mariska choked on her coffee, “Have you lost your marbles?! Mama will kill us if we pull a stunt like uncle Junhyuk! I’m too young and pretty to die.”

“No, you idiots!” Jungkook paused, “Well, actually-“

“Hyung!”

“Oppa!”

Jungkook stretched over the table to put his hands over his siblings’ mouths, “Shush! Inside voices!” He leaned back, removing his hands.

“And it’s not a huge party or anything that I want to do. I mean, it’s kinda big but I think that I think it might be up eomma’s alley.”

Jungkook saw the hesitation in their eyes and let out a sigh, “C’mon you guys. Trust me on this, okay. Eomma always does a lot for us and for people in general and she doesn’t for much back. We’ve done the same old dinner, cake, and gifts for her birthday for as long as Mariska’s been her daughter. Shouldn’t we do something more special at least once?”

“Why now, hyung?”

“Appa says eomma hasn’t felt great about herself since she found out she was pregnant four months ago.”

“Well I would assume. She’s pregnant with a kid she didn’t even plan.”

Mariska slapped Winter on the arm, “Don’t say that! You’re making mama sound like a bad mom!”

Winter rubbed the assaulted spot, “I’m not saying that! She’s the best mom but it’s also true. Her and dad didn’t plan this kid and it’s thrown them for a loop so of course mama will be struggling with it!”

“Just word it differently,” Mariska rolled her eyes as she took another sip of her coffee.

Jungkook rolled his eyes, “Can we get back to me now? Thanks. And it’s not that. Well, it is a little. But eomma has just been having all the doubts and appa had been struggling with reassuring her.”

“Well, what kind of doubts is she having and how do we not know about this?” Mariska rested an elbow on the table.

Jungkook took a bite of his cake, “Because it’s your guys last year of high school, we wouldn’t expect you to notice. Which is fine, I was there but I’m telling you now so you know. And just doubts, I don’t know. She’s worried about her body and how it’ll look and she’s worried about something going wrong and the baby being affected or her. Just stress, y’know. It is her first actual pregnancy.”

“Yeah, that’s true,” Mariska sighed and looked at Winter.

Jungkook didn’t need any words to know that they were deciding to agree. It was a Jung-Min kid thing that they all just managed to do. No words were needed, just a look and instantly the other knew what you were talking about.

“Alright hyung, what’s your plan?”

“What do you mean it got scheduled for my birthday?” Ivy looked at her husband from across the bed as they worked on getting it ready for sleep.

“I’m sorry, yeobo. I tried to push for a different date but they wouldn’t budge,” Yoongi sighed as he removed a few pillows from his side.

Ivy perched herself on the edge, “It’s fine. It’s not like it’s your fault.”

Yoongi went around and sat next to his wife, grabbing her hand to hold, “I feel horrible, yeobo.”

Ivy couldn’t help but smile at her husband and roll her eyes, “Don’t be sorry. I get to see you perform for my birthday.”

All five Jung-Min kids sat in one of the recording studios in their dad’s company. Well, three of them sat. Mariska and Winter napped, still in their school uniforms. Jimin played with Mariska’s hair while Taehyung patted Winter’s stomach. Jungkook sat between his oldest brothers, playing a game on his phone.

“Okay, let’s get this started,” were the first words out of Yoongi’s mouth as he walked in, startling his napping kids awake.

“Aw man, he’s gonna be in producer/CEO mode,” Mariska groaned as she sat up, Jimin pushing her up to help.

“Don’t worry, I’ll try not be,” Yoongi said as he handed out sheets of paper to each of his kids.

“Why do I find that hard to believe?” Winter muttered as he stretched his arms above his head.

Yoongi ruffled Winter’s hair as he passed him to get to the workstation. He sat in the chair, doing some tinkering at the computer and getting everything .

“I’ve always wanted to put lyrics to this song and record and when Jungkook came to me with his idea, I decided now would be the time,” Yoongi turned around in the chair to look at his kid, “Your uncles and I already did the guide track so you all follow along and we’ll figure out line distribution as we go.”

Ivy looked around for what felt like the 100th time but all she saw were cheering fans with their lightsticks and banners. Where did her kids go?

“Noona, are you okay?” Jin leaned closer to Ivy so she could hear him over the audience.

“I’m fine, I’m just wondering about the kids. They’ve been gone for a while, they’ll miss the rest of concert.”

Jin chuckled, “I’m sure they’re fine, noona. And it’ll be hard to miss the concert since you can hear it from anywhere in the stadium.”

Ivy sighed as she sat back in her chair, “You’re right, Jin. I just can’t help it. They’re all my babies. And this baby,” she pointed to the small bump that was her stomach, “Messes with my hormones and makes me even more worried. But you’re right, they’ll be fine.”

Ivy and Jin watched the rest of the concert, different artists under Yoongi’s company. After a boy group that had just recently debuted, Yoongi came on stage, welcomed by thousands and thousands of cheering fans, his wife and one of his best friends cheering along.

“I want to thank all of you for coming out and spending New Years with us. This show wouldn’t have been possible without you all supporting the company like you do,” louder cheers.

Yoongi smiled his gummy smile, “Tonight is actually even more special because it’s my wife’s birthday,” cheers of ‘happy birthday’ and screams, “She’s here tonight, in the audience and for her birthday, I planed something special with the help of some special people.”

Ivy furrowed her brows at this. She would smile and thank the audience members near her who wished her happy birthday before turning her attention back to the stage where Yoongi continued to speak about this “something special”.

“The ones who did the planning, are people very special to my wife and I and they put their all into this. On top of doing their own things, they worked hard to make sure this following performance was perfect and showed just how much they cared for my wife. So, without further ado,” Yoongi cringed at those three words and muttered, away from the microphone, that this was the last time he let his kids write his script.

Yoongi stepped away from the center stage as the lights began to dim and go to dark and a fog crawled onto the stage. The cheers began to hush as five figures could be seen being lifted up onto the stage from a trap door on the floor. A melody that was very familiar to Ivy—but also different—began to play over the speakers. What used to be mix of modern music with an orchestral aspect, a violin to be specific, now was full on modern. Ivy gasped, tears beginning to prick her eyes as one stage light shone over Jungkook just as he sung, standing center.

“Don’t think of anything
Don’t say anything, not even a word
Just give me a smile”

Another stage light shone to show Taehyung as he sang, standing to the right of Jungkook.

“I still can’t believe it
All of this seems like a dream
Don’t try to disappear”

Three stage lights shone to show Jimin—left to Jungkook—Mariska, and Winter—both on either end of the Jimin and Taehyung—as Jungkook sang, followed by Jimin with Mariska and Winter as backing vocals.

“Is it true Is it true
You You
You’re so beautiful, that I’m scared”

“Untrue Untrue
You You You”

The rest of the stage lights came on and the large screen came to life behind them with different pictures of Ivy from different eras in her life while Jungkook sang.

“Will you stay by my side
Will you promise me
If I let go of your hand, you’ll fly away and break
I’m scared scared scared of that”

Ivy brought her hand to as tears started to fall. Jimin sang, fighting the urge to look back and watch the slide show that Winter put together.

“Will you stop time
If this moment passes
As though it hadn’t happened
I’m scared scared scared I’ll lose you”

Jungkook sang, then Taehyung and during the entire time, Mariska and Winter did backing vocals, harmonizing with their brothers and each other.

“Butterfly like a Butterfly
Just like a Butterfly bu butterfly”

“Butterfly like a butterfly
Just like a Butterfly bu butterfly”

Winter walked from where he stood next to Taehyung and down the few steps that lead from the stage to the connecting catwalk as he rapped.

“You’re just like a Butterfly
From afar, I steal glances; if we touch hands, will I lose you?
You shine in this pitch darkness that is the butterfly effect
Your light touches, I forget the reality at once”

Mariska followed after him from where she stood next to Jimin, rapping the next verse and being careful to not fall in her heels.

“It’s like a wind that gently me
It’s like a dust that gently drifts along
You’re there but for some reason, I can’t reach you, stop
You, who’s like a dream is a butterfly high to me”

When Mariska began to sing was when the other three joined their siblings on the catwalk, the four boys doing backing vocals.

“Untrue Untrue
You You You”

Jungkook began to sing again, grabbing Mariska’s hand to help her walk the rest of the way to the end of the catwalk.

“Will you stay by my side
Will you promise me
If I let go of your hand, you’ll fly away and break
I’m scared scared scared of that”

Taehyung and Jimin stood on either side of Winter at the end of the catwalk as Taehyung began to sing again.

“Will you stop time
If this moment passes
As though it hadn’t happened
I’m scared scared scared I’ll lose you”

Jungkook and Mariska reached their brothers just as Mariska and Winter began to rap together and all five were slowly lifted as the platform they stood on ascended. The screens on the sides of the platform showcasing the slideshow of pictures.

“The small pieces guttered down darkly
From my heart, a barren noise
I don’t know if this is reality or a dream
My Kafka on the seaside
Don’t go to those woods over there
My heart is still shattering on you
(I just wanted to vaporize like this)
My love that is forever
It’s all FREE for you baby”

Jungkook began to sang, Jimin and the rest doing backing vocals with Jimin hitting higher notes.

“Will you stay by my side
Will you promise me
If I let go of your hand, you’ll fly away and break
I’m scared scared scared of that”

Taehyung began to sang, the rest doing backing vocals.

“Will you stop time
If this moment passes
As though it hadn’t happened
I’m scared scared scared I’ll lose you”

Jimin sang, then Mariska, and the rest of the boys doing backing vocals.

“Butterfly like a Butterfly
Just like a Butterfly bu butterfly

“Butterfly like a butterfly
Just like a Butterfly bu butterfly”

As the last notes faded out, a message came on both screens that read “Happy Birthday, Eomma” in Hangul and “Happy Birthday, Mama” in English. The crowd was silent, save for Ivy sobbing if you listened closely, and then they erupted into cheers.

“Happy birthday!” The five kids cheered in unison as the platform began to descend. All five of them had glassy eyes with unshed tears.

Once the platform was back to being flat against the catwalk, the five siblings took a deep bow before making hearts in the direction of the audience that they knew their mom was. Jin couldn’t help but laugh as Ivy, still sobbing, made a heart back at the children.

He wiped at his own tears before standing up and pulling Ivy with him, “Let’s go meet them backstage, noona,” Jin said as he ushered Ivy to leave the aisle, Ivy being greeted and congratulated by different audience members with some of them having tears of their own.

Ivy and Jin made it backstage, Ivy being brought into hugs by Namjoon and Hoseok as Yoongi was waiting off to the side of the stage to greet his kids.

“Noona, happy birthday,” Namjoon grinned at the crying lady.

“Noona, did you like the lyrics? We helped write them!” Hoseok wrapped an arm around Ivy’s shoulders, bringing her to the room that him, Namjoon, and Yoongi had.

“I loved them. You guys did amazing with writing them,” Ivy smiled a shaky smile as she tried to compose herself.

“Aigoo, she hasn’t stopped crying ever since the song started,” Jin chuckled as he handed Ivy some tissue.

“I’m sorry I’m overwhelmed with pride and joy and love,” Ivy blubbered as she wiped at her eyes, not caring anymore about her makeup.

Yoongi finally came into the room with the five kids and he made sure he greeted his wife first before the kids got in the way.

“Happy birthday, jagi,” Yoongi gave his wife a tight hug and quick kiss.

“Eomma!” Jungkook cried before almost knocking Ivy over with his hug.

“Eomma, did you like it? Did we do a good job?” Jimin asked as he joined Jungkook on giving Ivy a hug.

“Are you crying because you love it? Or because you hate it?” Taehyung asked, also joining in on the hug.

Ivy laughed and shook her head, giving the three boys each a kiss on the head, “I loved it so much. You all did such an amazing job.”

“It was Jungkook oppa’s idea, mama! I guess he’s not a huge butthead after all,” Mariska joked in an attempt to stop her tears that had been threatening to fall ever since she opened to sing.

Ivy gave her only daughter a knowing look before stretching both her arms out, beckoning for her other two children to hug her as well. They rushed over and wrapped their arms tight around her, the other three having stepped away.

“Appa and I talked and we know that you’ve been struggling ever since you found out you were pregnant so we wanted to do something special for you,” Jungkook grew sheepish at the praise that his little sister gave him—even if it was covered with an insult.

Ivy smiled at her bashful son, “I loved it so much. And I love all of you so much. This is the best birthday present ever and it came from you all.”

Yoongi came over and gave his wife another kiss, “I’m glad you loved it,” he lowered his voice so it was only loud enough for Ivy to hear, “And maybe I’ll give you another present later.”

Winter and Mariska gagged, pulling away from their mom—whom they were still hugging—and took large steps away.

“Can we not ruin this nice and wholesome moment? Is that too much to ask? Can we not taint Duckling?” Winter scrunched his face up tight and referring to the nickname they all gave the unborn child.

“Can eomma and appa even have now?” Taehyung wondered outloud to no one in particular. His question went unanswered still.

“My ears have never been so disrespected,” Mariska exclaimed.

“Mari, you did a really amazing job. You too, Winter. Why won’t you guys be idols?” Jin decided to steer away the attention from Yoongi’s iness to something a bit more wholesome.

Mariska was quiet before speaking, “My ears have never been so disrespected with lies!”

A/N Happy birthday to an amazing friend and amazing co-author, Rani! Love ya lots! And if anyone is curious (and because I'm extra and love fashion and got bored) here is more or less what the kids wore for the performance. It's in the order that they stood on stage for the beginning of the song before the rap.

The chapter was entertaining as usual specially the Mariska and Jungkook, Tom and Jerry fight hehe.
'Jungkook became Jungshook and ran away' - Lol this line had me laughing so bad hahah
And I can clearly visualize the smirk Yoongi would have on when Mariska came to ask him for an advise here

And Suga's role would be played by me by telling my friends to pick something to eat hehehe
Poor Moonbuk I can imagine how much uncomfortable he would be feeling there hahaha and on top of that everyone kept confusing him by telling him 'you are the one'
Anyways I'm wondering what sort of adventure would the new Jung min sibling bring hehehe

Chapter 7: This chapter was heartbreaking :(
It's hard to see people pass away due to cancer after a long fight with it, specially when it's your best friend.

I can imagine how heartbroken everyone would have been plus they would have to handle the kids who did be crying too :(

Fighting author-nims!

Chapter 5: Lol the international boy part really got me kekekekek I was actually missing Rapmonster there heheh XD

Reading this chapter was basically a nightmare to me too as I never ever had a good experience with my dentist.
6 years with braces because I fell off my bicycle and broke my front 4 permanent teeths, which barely managed to hang in there (¯―¯٥)
This chapter was very relatable to me hehe
Fighting! ^^

Chapter 4: OMG, I swear I havent seen anyone like Ivy before kekekekek.
She is one of a kind and the kids are just too adorable, specially Kookie and Mariska.
I can't imagine Yoongi entertaining the kids the whole day, at some point I swear he would have questioned himself -'What in the world was he doing.'
But seriously Ivy and Yoongi are too cute!
Jung- Min household is Jjang~! (≧∇≦)b
