Chapter 2
ButterflyChou needed a minute.
"Sir... I'm going to a hospital for criminals?!"
Her boss nodded. "You can still back out if you don't want to."
She shook her head. No, should couldn't back out. She'd worked too hard to give up now.
"Also, Tsushima- Chou," her boss added, the casual first name sounding strange from him. "It is the equivalent of a maximum security prison. So that means-"
"It means there are going to be murderers there."
"Yes, and it means... it means that if you need to be pulled out quickly for any reason we can't promise we can do that."
Chou took a deep breath and nodded in understanding. "I'm still doing it, sir."
And so it was. Chou acted her way into the hospital, was treated as a normal patient: had her health checked, was given a simple white hospital outfit (a notebook and several pens hidden in it) with sandals for shoes (no shoelaces because patients had tried to hang themselves using them in the past), was not told anything about the other prisoners or hospital, and was wished good luck by her boss.
