Chapter 13

At Soul's End

A/N: I couldn't find the pic I wanted of Jinkook but there are so many awesome pics to choose from... How can that be!?!?!? It's not fair!!! They are just too ing cute. I can't... really. Just stop now :'(

I'm sorry this update has taken so long. It's actually been done for a couple days but I was having trouble finding the time to post it. I definitely think you'll like it though. So, please enjoy!!!

Jimin’s nerves were frazzled. He was so tired he could barely think straight yet there was no way he could fall asleep with the threat of Ted turning into a zombie at hand. The man in question was still lying across the table unmoving. Jimin couldn’t even tell if he was breathing in the dimly lit room. It was too hard to see.

Seated on the floor next to Yoongi, Jimin could see Belinda’s legs under the table but her body was completely overshadowed by her husband’s much larger body. Everyone else was stretched out along the floor on the other side of the room near the closed bathroom door. Taehyung was sitting in the corner, head leaned back and eyes closed as Hoseok’s head was cradled in his lap again. Next to them, Namjoon was lying on his back, his head resting on his carry-on bag. He had offered to allow Sam to share it as a pillow with him but over the past couple hours the boy’s head had fallen off and was now cradled on his arms as he slept on his side facing towards the bathroom. Somehow Jin and Jungkook had figured out a way to use each other as pillows simultaneously. Jungkook’s back was to the wall between the bathroom and the refrigerator. He and Jin were both lying on their sides facing one another with their knees slightly bent and heads resting on the others’ thighs. It was unconventional but actually looked comfortable to Jimin.

“How much longer before we wake Tae?” Jimin whispered to Yoongi in his softest voice so he wouldn’t wake anyone.

Yoongi looked at his watch before responding in an equally quiet whisper. “Maybe another ten minutes or so? I kinda don’t want to wake him but I’ll be tomorrow if I don’t get any sleep at all.”

“You think Ted’s really going to turn?” Jimin asked next. “It’s been a few hours already. Maybe the bite wasn’t too bad or his wife disinfected it in time?”

“I don’t know, Jimin. I already feel like I’m watching over a corpse. I can’t even tell if he’s breathing anymore.”

Jimin shivered. It was one thing thinking such a thought to himself, another hearing out loud from someone else. A low moan echoed through the room, disrupting their conversation. Both boys froze, afraid they had disturbed the others with their whispering.

Belinda’s chair squeaked slightly as she sat up. She pressed her fists to her lower back as she arched it, trying to relieve the knots that had sprung up due to her awkward sleeping position. After her brief stretch, she turned to her husband.

“Ted? Are you feeling okay?” Belinda asked her husband, voice filled with concern. Another moan left the man’s throat as he finally sat up. Yoongi stood to his feet as the man sat upright, ready for action should he be needed. He watched closely as the look on Belinda’s face contorted from worry to relief to fear.

At the look of fear in Belinda’s eyes, Yoongi sprang into action, grabbing Ted by the shoulders just as he lunged at his wife, grabbing her by the upper arms and pulling her towards himself. The others in the room heard the scuffle as Jimin ran to Belinda’s aid, trying to pull her free from Ted’s grasp. Taehyung sprang to his feet as well, jolting Hoseok into a sitting position. As Taehyung rushed to Yoongi’s aid, Hoseok watched on in horror.

“No, no!” Hoseok cried out as Ted lost his grasp on Belinda and grabbed onto Taehyung instead. As Taehyung fought to free himself, his back end swung to the side, upending Belinda’s chair and sending her and Jimin crashing to the ground. Yoongi continued to hold Ted back but the older man was so much bigger and stronger that it was impossible to do any more than just slow him down. He was slowly pulling Taehyung closer and closer to his gaping mouth, teeth gnashing as he tried to bite the boy.

“No!” Hoseok cried again. His eyes were locked on the scene in front of him as his hands frantically searched the ground around him. They finally locked onto something and without a thought he jumped to his feet and ran towards the melee. It took him less than a second to jump onto the table, his arms already above his head with weapon poised and ready. He brought it down with all his might on the zombie’s head, a loud resounding crack ringing above the noise of the room. Ted’s body lost all fight instantly, limbs going loose as he fell to the floor in a heap.

“Ted!” Belinda screamed, crawling across the floor to the body of what used to be her husband. Her head was bleeding where she had hit the floor but she paid no attention as she grieved over the lifeless body.

Hoseok stood like a statue on top of the table, his mind blank with shock. His eyes were locked on the item in his hands yet there was no recognition of what it was at first. Only when he heard Taehyung calling his name was he able to awake from his stupor. With a look of disgust, he tossed the bat in his hands to the floor, grabbing onto Taehyung instead.

“Oh, Hobi!” Taehyung exclaimed, clutching the elder tightly in his embrace. “You saved me, hyung. Thank you. Thank you.” The tears of relief were evident in Taehyung’s voice and Hoseok couldn’t help but cry as well.

“Tae! I thought I was gonna lose you! I thought you were gonna die!” Hoseok wailed into Taehyung’s shoulder as he hugged the younger man back with all his heart.

Jimin stood to his feet, taking in his best friend before wrapping him up in a back hug, his arms reaching as far around Hoseok as they could stretch too. “Thank you, Hoseok hyung. Thank you.” he mumbled, so glad that his best friend was okay.

Namjoon had walked up beside Yoongi, watching the three friends. Unconsciously, Yoongi’s hand reached out to him, grasping his larger palm with his own. “It’ll be okay, Joonie. Everything will be okay.” Yoongi whispered, his eyes never leaving Jimin.

Jin crawled over to Belinda’s side as she huddled over her husband’s prone figure. He wrapped her up in his strong arms, pulling her away from the man. “I’m so sorry.” he whispered in her ear. Tears were in his eyes as he felt her pain but he didn’t let them fall. After a moment, he pushed her to arms length so he could see her better. “You hit your head. Let’s get you fixed up, okay? Did you get hurt anywhere else?” he asked in his kindest, most nurturing voice.

Belinda just shook her head ‘no,’ not quiet following the questions in her state of grief. Jin supported the woman as he got himself and her to their feet and walked her back to the table, setting her gently in a chair. He left her alone for a moment as he tried to locate the first aid kit Belinda had used on Ted earlier. He glanced at Jungkook and Sam ruefully. Somehow they had managed to sleep through all the commotion and he could really use Jungkook’s help at the moment.

“Hey, someone want to wake Jungkook up?” Jin addressed the room at large as he returned to the table with the first aid kit that had been placed on the countertop near the sink. Jimin and Taehyung, still in their weepy huddle with Hoseok, both giggled.

“I knew he could totally sleep through the end of the world.” Taehyung laughed as he disentangled himself from his best friend and lover. Hoseok followed him to Jungkook’s side as Jimin strode over to Yoongi and Namjoon. He huddled close, taking Yoongi’s free hand and resting his head on his shoulder once again. It just seemed to belong there and he loved it.

“Hey. Sleeping Beauty.” Hoseok called out to the maknae, kicking at the bottom of his booted feet. Taehyung squatted in front of the boy, pushing on his shoulder causing him to roll onto his back.

“I’ll show you how it’s done.” Taehyung said, a smirk stretching his lips. Suddenly, both of his hands shot out at the younger’s chest, pinching at his s through his shirt.

“! Get off me, Tae!” Jungkook screeched as he sat up straight, his arms flailing as he tried to bat Taehyung’s hands away from his chest.

“Told ya so.” Taehyung sing songed, grinning at a job well done.

Jungkook was ready to fire back a witty retort but a quick glance around the room told him now wasn’t the time. “What the hell happened?” he asked instead.

“We, um… need to take care of some… business?” Jin hedged, afraid to say anything directly for fear that Belinda would react badly. So far she seemed to be in a state of shock, not even reacting when Jin had touched her bleeding forehead with the alcohol pad to get her cleaned up. The cut wasn’t very deep but it had bled quite a bit.

“Some… business.” Jungkook repeated, his eyes instantly falling on the body slumped on the floor. “Okay. Maybe you want to finish that up in the bathroom?” he suggested to Jin, mind working quickly even in his half awake state.

“We can do that.” Jin replied as he finished cleaning the woman’s cut. It hadn’t stopped bleeding completely but was more of a trickle than the gush it had been to begin with. He quickly closed up the first aid kit before helping Belinda stand to her feet and ushering her into the bathroom.

As soon as the door closed behind the pair, Jungkook stood to his feet. “Okay, guys. We have to get rid of this body before that woman comes back out here.” he instructed.

“If we stay near the back of the store we can put it in one of the aisles we won’t need supplies from.” Yoongi suggested.

“There’s a toy and novelty aisle near the middle of the far end.” Taehyung suggested, having looked through the store and studied the map.

“Okay. Let’s do this. Tae Hyung, you take the upper body. Yoongi hyung and I will take the feet. Namjoon hyung, you open the door for us.” Jungkook instructed.

“What about me?” Jimin asked.

“Bring a weapon, hyung. You can follow us and make sure that we’re covered just in case the zombies breach the gate.” Jungkook supplied.

With their orders ready to enact, Namjoon rushed to the door as Jimin grabbed the bat from where Hoseok had dropped it earlier. Taehyung was the first to the body, prodding it with his foot to get it stretched out on its back.

“It’s, uh… kinda leaking.” Taehyung pointed out in disgust.

The others crowded around to get a better look, Hoseok covering his mouth with his hand as he forced his gag reflex back. He had swung the bat so hard that the man’s cranium had splintered and bloody brain matter was slowly oozing out of the rent flesh.

“I’ve got a shirt.” Yoongi stated as he walked to his carry-on bag. After a moment of rifling through it, he returned to the group with a black logo tee in hand. “Someone lift him up. I’ll just put this over his head and we should be good to go.” he stated matter-of-factly.

Jungkook quickly stepped forward, pulling at the lifeless body’s shoulders to sit it up straight. As soon as it was upright, Yoongi placed the tee over it’s head as if he was trying to dress the guy. It would have been funny if it weren’t so grisly Taehyung mused.

Once the body was finally ready, the three young men grabbed at it, lifting the dead weight with a few huffs and puffs. It was obvious this wasn’t going to be an easy job but they grit their teeth and proceeded without complaint. Namjoon already had the door open when they reached it, Taehyung backing through first as he looked where he was going over his shoulder. They had to do a little maneuvering to get Ted’s body through the door and around the counter at the same time. It wasn’t long before Taehyung and Jungkook broke out into a light sweat, breaths huffing slightly at the exertion.

Jimin followed along behind the others, eyes on the front gate and baseball bat raised and ready to strike at a moment’s notice. So far the zombies wandering along the concourse didn’t seem to notice them however, the bottom of the gate appeared to be pushed in slightly and no longer on the tracks like it had been when it had first been closed. This fact worried Jimin but he kept his mouth closed, not wanting to get the zombie’s notice with a whispered warning to his friends.

Taehyung continued leading the others along the narrow aisles, praying he wouldn’t accidently bump into anything. Yoongi and Jungkook couldn’t see what was behind him because his frame was in the way so there would be no warning if he was about to hit anything. At the end of the second aisle, Taehyung had to put the body down in order to adjust his grip, Yoongi and Jungkook following his lead. The body was getting so heavy and he was afraid he was going to drop it. The next stretch would be the most dangerous as they would be walking towards the concourse to get to the toy aisle. With a nod at the others, Taehyung picked the torso up again, the other two getting a grip on the legs and hefting the body off the floor again.

Jimin kept a close eye on them and the concourse as they turned out into the open. The going was even slower as they moved as quietly as possible. Jungkook’s grip was slipping as his palms got sweatier but he thought they were almost there. He just had to keep his handhold a little longer. Finally they were turning the corner again, a wall of stuffed animals behind Taehyung. He stopped just as Jungkook lost his grip and dropped the man’s foot.

The solid thud of the shoe hitting the floor echoed within the store and along the concourse. Jimin instantly scurried into the nearest aisle and the other three froze in the toy section. Answering low moans could be heard in the hallway and the boys all held their breath in anxiety. The front gate rattled as bodies brushed against it. Timidly, Jimin peeked around the corner of the aisle he was in. Three zombies were at the gate, not trying to break in but not leaving either. They seemed to be… assessing? Jimin wasn’t sure what they were doing but the small noise they had made was enough to peek the zombie’s interest.

When there was no immediate attempt to break through the gate, Yoongi and Taehyung lowered the rest of the body they were carrying to the floor as quietly as possible. Taehyung stretched his strained lower back as Jungkook gave him an apologetic look. Yoongi carefully approached the corner of the aisle to look at the gate. He could no longer see Jimin but he too noticed the zombies seemed to be interested in the storefront. Not knowing where Jimin was exactly made him feel very nervous. It was a foreign feeling that he wasn’t comfortable with.

Knowing he was the only one with a weapon, Jimin turned away from the gate to make his way along the aisle to where the rest of the group had turned the corner to head towards the toy aisle. As he peeked around this corner, he could see the others just ahead of him, looking towards the gate from the aisle they were stuck in. As if on instinct, Yoongi’s head snapped towards him instantly, his body seeming to relax as he could see that his soulmate was okay. Jimin smiled reassuringly before they both let their eyes wander back to the front gate.

Two more zombies were attracted to the gate. It was almost as if they could smell them Jungkook mused. If that was true, they had to hurry up and get back into the break room. So far, the zombies hadn’t tried to break in and they didn’t seem to have honed in on the boys’ presence so he decided they just needed to make a stealthy break for it. On the shelf behind him he found a coloring book and a box of crayons. He nabbed the book, opening it quietly and pulled a red crayon from the box. As Yoongi and Taehyung watched curiously he wrote, “I think they can smell us. We need to leave as discreetly as we can.” The two young men nodded their agreement before Yoongi suddenly dashed around the corner and into the aisle Jimin was in.

Jungkook and Taehyung glanced at each other, surprise evident on their faces. They had had no idea the quiet elder could move so quickly or silently. ‘Well, I guess love can make anything possible.’ Taehyung reflected bemusedly. He spied around the corner again, noting the zombies seemed a little more agitated but still not trying to break through the gate. He tapped Jungkook on the shoulder, motioning with his head in the direction Jimin and Yoongi were in. Receiving a single nod from the youngest, he headed around the corner and into the aisle they had come from, Jungkook tight on his heels. Jimin and Yoongi were waiting for them, the latter now holding a tomahawk he had pulled from the wall. Jungkook grinned when he saw it. Nudging Taehyung, they both began to look at the old weapons before choosing a couple for themselves. It was hard for Taehyung to hold in his enthusiasm. He felt like a kid on Christmas morning.

Finally, once they were all well armed, they quietly dashed down the aisle and across the narrow open space to the next aisle. The jangling at the front gate was becoming more insistent as more zombies began to press against it. The boys could see the cashier counter however and the closed door just beyond it. Yoongi held up his hand, lowering one finger per second as he did a countdown, readying the others for the mad dash they were about to take. When his fist was closed, he ran forward, skirting the counter and flinging the door open. As he hurried through the threshold, he could hear the zombies trying to push through the gate once again but a look behind himself assured him that the others had made it into the room and Namjoon had closed the door behind them.

“, that was intense.” Jimin breathed out in relief to be safe, his arms instantly pulling Yoongi into a hug.

“And tiring!” Taehyung lamented. “He didn’t look that heavy but holy ! I was sweating and out of breath like I had been at dance practice for an hour straight!”

“It’s probably the altitude.” Yoongi suggested from Jimin’s arms, his chin resting on the younger’s shoulder. “There’s less oxygen here so you get real tired real fast until you get used to it.” he explained when he noticed the confused looks of the four boys that hadn’t been living in the area.

“Seriously?” Taehyung asked, aghast at the notion. “No wonder.” His mind had instantly flashed back to how tired and sweaty he and Hoseok had been during their ‘Mile HIgh Club’ initiation in the men’s room earlier in the day. He couldn’t help but flash his lover a mischievous look just at the thought, eyebrows arching and everything.

“Now is not the time for any of those thoughts.” Hoseok warned.

Before any replies could be made, Jin opened the bathroom door, leading a bandaged Belinda into the room. “What happened to her neck?” Jungkook asked the eldest right away.

“She was scratched but I didn’t find any bites so she should be okay.” Jin replied. “I think she hit her head pretty hard though so we’ll need to keep an eye on her for the rest of the night to make sure she doesn’t have a concussion.”

“Good idea.” Jungkook agreed. “Tae hyung, I know it’s your turn but, now that I’m awake, maybe I should take this watch?”

“Sounds good to me.” Taehyung answered with a yawn. His adrenaline rush had worn off and he was feeling more tired than he could ever remember feeling. Pulling Hoseok along behind him, he stepped over the still sleeping Sam as he led them towards the space Jin and Jungkook had been sleeping in prior to all the commotion of the night. Upon his request, Jimin tossed his carry-on bag to him and soon he and his lover were cuddled up on the floor, using the bag as their pillow.

Jin followed Jungkook to the opposite side of the room where Yoongi and Jimin had been keeping watch. He laid the unresponsive Belinda down next to Jungkook, using his own carry-on as a pillow for her, and then sat on her other side. This was turning into a long night but at least they didn’t have to worry about anyone turning into a zombie anymore.

As everyone else began to settle down, Jimin shared a brief look with Yoongi. Namjoon was still standing by the door, fiddling with the hem of his shirt, looking out of place and unsure of what to do with himself. Jimin gave Yoongi a small nod, sending the elder over to grab Namjoon by the hand and guide him behind Jimin to the corner Taehyung and Hoseok had been sleeping in. Namjoon’s bag was already on that side of the room so, without a word, Jimin moved it so they could all share it as a pillow together. To say Namjoon looked confused was an understatement and Jimin couldn’t help his amused smile in response. One look at Yoongi reassured him that what they were doing was right however so he just tugged on the taller man’s free hand, pulling him to the floor next to him. Yoongi lowered himself behind Namjoon, spooning him as they both faced Jimin. He reached out his hand, lacing his fingers together with his soulmate’s, resting their intertwined hands on Namjoon’s hip and closing his eyes. He was so very ready to sleep and he let it claim him almost instantly.

*******

Jimin awoke to the insistent beep beep, beep beep of someone’s alarm going off. “It’s too early.” he groaned tiredly as he slit his eyes open.

“Oh yeah? You tell him that.” Namjoon whispered back at him, just inches from his face.

“Is that Yoongi hyung’s watch?” he whispered back, having to hold himself back from the urge to peck Namjoon’s full lips with a ‘good morning’ kiss.

“Yeah, but it’s dangerous to wake him.” Namjoon confirmed sheepishly.

“Even with morning kisses?” Jimin asked playfully, his brain already fully awake now that his eyes were all the way open.

“Uh… can’t say that I know the answer to that one.”

Jimin frowned at the tall man momentarily before sitting up. “Well, that’s how I’d like to get woken up.”

Namjoon stiffened slightly as the younger man leaned over him to try to kiss Yoongi awake. He still had no idea what was happening or how he had ended up in the middle of a Yoongi and Jimin sandwich for the night. He wasn’t complaining exactly, he was just very confused.

After what felt like an eternity of awkwardness on Namjoon’s part, the sound of lips smacking was interrupted by Yoongi’s mumbled, “Well, good morning to you too, Minnie.” as the elder man’s arm tightened around the gangly man’s waist.

“Uh, I have to go to the bathroom.” Namjoon hurriedly spewed, knocking the two soulmates off of him as he quickly gained his feet. He almost tripped and fell, the table in the middle of the room catching him as he turned sharply and propelled himself towards the bathroom. He didn’t look back at the couple as he hastily closed the door behind himself.

“Did I do that?” Jimin asked, confused.

Yoongi chuckled. “Joonie’s not the most… graceful when it comes to… well almost anything.”

Jin snorted at the conversation from across the room. “Well, you’re not exactly being easy on the poor guy.” he chided in his most motherly voice. “And will you please shut that damn alarm off?”

Jimin had the decency to look abashed but Yoongi just shrugged it off as he pushed the little button on the side of his watch to silence the alarm. They’d talk to Namjoon as soon as they figured out what the hell they were doing. He trusted Namjoon to tell them to back off if he felt uncomfortable too. The one thing he seemed to be forgetting however was that there wouldn’t be much ‘alone time’ to think things through or get any talking done.

“What time is it?” Hoseok asked in a yawn from the nearby corner.

“8 am.” Yoongi reported in an irritated voice. “I forgot to change my damn alarm now that I don’t have to get up for class.”

“8 am? I almost feel like I slept in.” Hoseok said with a smile. “Right, Tae?” He nudged the sleeping man next to him, easily waking him since he had been half awake already and listening to the conversation around him.

“Uh-huh.” Taehyung agreed with a wide yawn. “I can’t wait to get out of this airport. Although it has been good to us, you know?” He nudged Hoseok suggestively, earning an eye roll from the elder. “Hey, wait. Why didn’t anyone ever wake me up for my turn on watch?”

“Oh, Jin and I figured most of the middle watch was spent with the activities in the middle of the night so we covered it. If Yoongi’s watch hadn’t gone off we would have woken everyone pretty soon anyway.” Jungkook replied. He had sat up with Jin for the remained of the night, watching over Belinda. She seemed to have slept comfortably but they couldn’t wake her up and they were growing more and more worried for her.

“What activities?” Sam asked, startling everyone who had forgotten he was even there.

“Yah! How could you have slept through all that?” Taehyung asked, laughter in his voice.

“Through all what?” he asked again, growing disgruntled at being the only one not knowing what had happened.

“It’s kind of a sensitive subject.” Jin said, hesitant to talk about too much with Belinda in the room, even if she seemed to be unresponsive at the moment. “Why don’t we fill you in later when we can talk more privately? For now, let’s get ready to grab supplies and get out of here.” he suggested.

“About that.” Jungkook interrupted. “How much stuff is in the storage room, Sam? It might not be safe getting supplies in the store.”

“Agreed.” Jimin added. “I noticed last night that the bottom of the gate is coming off the track and that was before we caught the zombies’ attention.”

“Not only that but it seems like maybe they can smell us?” Yoongi suggested as well, Jungkook nodding his head in agreement.

Sam thought the answer over, suddenly glad that their delivery had come in the day before. Yesterday he had been annoyed because it had meant more work for him. “I think we can get everything we need back there but it might take a little longer because it’s all in boxes… and there’s no light.”

“Yeah,” Namjoon agreed as he stepped out of the bathroom. “Do you have any idea how hard it is to find the toilet with absolutely no light?”

Jin chuckled. “Didn’t you have your phone with you?” he asked playfully. It had been hard to find a good place to prop his phone the night before while he tended to Belinda’s wounds but he had managed.

“My phone?” Namjoon asked, unamused.

“Flashlight app…” Yoongi supplied, grinning as realization flitted across the younger man’s face.

“ you too, hyung.” Namjoon replied, embarrassed.

“Okay, okay.” Jin chided the two younger men. “Let’s just get out of here.”

“I think our best bet will be to just make a run for the storage room.” Taehyung announced, Jungkook seeming to agree. “Everyone, grab your bags and the weapons we have in here and get your phones ready with the flashlights. Sam, two questions. Do you need a key to get into the storage room and is there light in the back hallway?”

“I have the key here.” Sam replied, holding up the keyring. “And there’s little windows along the way. They’re too high to see through and too far between to get much light though.”

“That’s better than nothing.” Jungkook replied as he got to his feet and walked over to his bag. The others followed his lead, pulling phones out, situating bags over shoulders and gathering their weapons. They had managed to amass two baseball bats, two spears, a tomahawk, three axes, and a katana.

Sam watched the others getting ready. All he had on him was a phone and the keys. It only took a moment for him to be ready. Once Namjoon and Jin had an unconscious Belinda situated between them, Sam followed Taehyung to the door. “Okay, as soon as this door opens, you head straight to the storage room door. Don’t look at the gate, don’t think about anything but getting that door open, okay?” Taehyung instructed him. Sam swallowed hard, nodding his head nervously. Before he had time to think, the door was swinging open and he was being nudged forward.

Sam rushed to the storage room, keys shaking in his hand as his nerves took over. He could hear the others following him though and he felt the tiniest bit of comfort in knowing he wasn’t in this alone. As the key turned in the knob, the rattling of the gate got louder, the metal squealing as it was slowly being forced off its track.

“Hurry!” Taehyung called out, bringing up the rear of the group. The zombies were beginning to force their way into the store, limbs and clothing getting stuck and tearing as they passed through the twisted metal sides of the gate. He had pulled the katana from its sheath and was swinging it at the zombies as they got closer, Jimin once again leading him by the back of the shirt as his full attention was on the monsters heading towards them. Just as he was about to lop off the head of the nearest zombie, a strong pull on his shirt whisked him through the door as it swung closed, plunging the room into darkness. Several thuds beat at the door but the knob didn’t move and the door seemed to be solid, keeping the zombies out.

One by one, cell phone flash lights lit up the room. “Okay, Sam. Where’s the stuff we need?” Jungkook asked the unnerved cashier as Namjoon and Jin placed Belinda near the door to ‘Delivery Alley.’ Sam instructed the others in a shaky voice, leading them first to the boxes of various backpacks and large purses to be filled with goods.

It took almost an hour for everyone to go through the boxes as Sam pointed them out but finally they were loaded down with supplies and ready to get out of the airport. Since Sam didn’t have a carry-on bag as well as supplies, he was tasked with carrying Belinda and leading the way. Sam was glad the back door was unlocked from the inside because he knew he’d never be able to reach his keys while carrying the passed out woman bridal style like he was.

“This way.” he called to the others as he turned down the long hallway. The way ahead was clear, no corners or niches hiding any surprises and he let out a sigh of relief, knowing he was putting more distance between himself and danger.

The rest of the group followed close behind the cashier, weapons drawn despite the sense of calm surrounding them. At the end of the long hallway was a double door that appeared to lead to the loading dock Sam had described the day before.

“I can’t open the door, but it shouldn’t be locked.” Sam reported as they drew close to it. Jungkook stepped to the front of the group, reaching out to try the doorknob as quietly as he could. It turned easily in his hand and he slowly stepped through. Taehyung was right behind him, both boys ready for hidden danger.

The loading dock was graced with two overhead lights running on the generator yet most of the large, open space seemed hidden in shadow. There were tall towers of boxed goods stacked here and there around the large room. A semi-truck was docked in one of two large garage doors, about a foot of sunlight and fresh air breezing in around it on the sides and top.

“Anyone in here?” Taehyung called out, trying to bait any awaiting zombies so there would be no surprises. Nothing moved however so he ushered the others into the room and closed the door behind them. “I think we’re safe for now.” he told them.

“Good.” Jin sighed in relief. “Where’s the door out of here?” he asked Sam.

“Over there.” Sam pointed to a wide set of stairs along the far wall that led to a heavy metal door with his head.

“You guys stay here.” Jungkook told the others as he descended the stairs. The door let out a loud screech as he pulled it open to look out.

“Oh !” Sam called from the top of the stairs, having followed Jungkook despite his order to stay put.

Jungkook turned to look at the boy, the others running up behind him. Belinda was sitting up in the boy’s arms and in a flash she bent forward, biting into his exposed neck. A scream of pain pierced the air as Jungkook raced back up the stairs, but he was still too low on the steps to do anything when an axe came down on the woman’s head. A second later a tomahawk entered Jungkook’s field of view, Sam’s lifeless body tumbling down the stairs towards him a second later.

“Holy .” Hoseok breathed out as he tried to comprehend what just happened.

“What? Why?” Namjoon asked in a small voice.

“He was bit, Joon-ah.” Jin reluctantly answered for Yoongi. “There was nothing we could have done for him.”

After a moment of silence, Jungkook turned to head back down the stairs. He had to step over splayed limbs to get to the bottom. “Well, .” he sighed under his breath before addressing the others. “Can I get a hand here? They’re blocking the door.”

Chapter 29: Welcome back! I hope that you are able to recover. We all go through tough times and have to take the time to heal. Even though you don't feel as if you have progressed I am proud you even thought to give us this author's note. I think just updated on here and putting edited would be fine, at least for me. But do what ever makes you feel best. Thank you for not abandoning this fic! <3

Chapter 23: Okay, Namjoon is my fav. No doubts about that now. The way he protects Jimin just makes my heart swell and how he absorbs Jimin's grief. Nobody would I'm be able to understand what Jimin is going through better than Namjoon, who's already lost his soulmate.
What makes me like him the most though is he says that he'll be whatever he needs to be and do whatever he needs to do. That gets to me because that's my way to get through life. Not the best, but certainly not the worst.

Also, Hobi and Taehyung make me so happy. Even though they aren't soulmates, it feels as if they are. Hoseok grew up so much in this chapter and his growth makes me happy. I'm excited to see how his character develops.

Jungkook is probably my number 2, closely followed by Jin. Jinkook is not something that I normally ship, but LOOK AT ME NOW.

Chapter 21: AHHH . WHAT. THE. .

I like the time skip, I think it went pretty smoothly. The boys did a good job of causing mistrust and panic within the residents without being super obvious about it. The reader could tell what they were doing because we were given prior exposition, but I don't think the people they were talking to would understand what they were doing.

I thought it would at least be another couple chapters before somebody from BTS was going to be picked off. I always thought Yoongi was going to go first, but I never thought that it would be this soon. ing Johnson. Also, I'm happy you didn't do the whole TWD thing. Even though I like that show, sometimes it can be too stupid with the amount of people drama. I just want to watch zombies eat people tbh, not stupid relationship drama.

Low-key hoping that Yoongi somehow makes a comeback later on in the story. Maybe he cuts of his hand so the infection doesn't spread through his body. Or maybe he's actually immune to the virus, but pushes himself away from others for fear of infecting them too. Honestly though, I just want YoonMinJoon to be happy ;-;

Anyways, keep up the hard work! Looking forward to more chaos and the aftermath of the downfall of the Pepsi Centre~

Chapter 17: Namjooonnnnnn~ I swear to god this boy is going to give me a heart attack. I just want him to be happy T^T
Also, JINKOOK IS SO CUTE~ Plus VHope and Yoonmin moments.... my heart is flying
On a more serious note, I'm not excited for Yoongi's gut feeling. I'm super nervous that one of the boys will die and AHHH. But I like all of the jobs that the boys were placed in. I think I liked getting insight on Hoseok the most and how he wishes for what would've been. It's realistic because in a situation like that, a lot of people would ask what ifs and think of what almost was.
On an analytical note, I like the way you split the chapter. Every individual person got a good amount of screen time and the reader gets more insight on everybody. It can be hard to juggle an ensemble cast, but I think you succeed in doing so.
Anyways, take care of yourself~ Put the chapter out when you can and there's no rush!

Chapter 16: Yoongi is somebody who I'd want in my zombie apocalypse survival team. He's so straight to the point and pragmatically; both qualities you need in at least one team member. Also, I would like Jin on my team too. He's very pragmatic, but in a different way. Of course I'd like all of the boys, but if I only had to pick two; it would be Yoongi and Jin.
Jiin, I see what you're doing you sneaky boy. Compliment the facilities to get in good with the people who run/maintain it. Maybd it wasn't intentional, but you never know with Jin.
It's almost inevitable that the Pepsi Center will fall. These refugee camps always do in zombie narratives and especially because this one is so close to the city. When the food runs out in downtown Denver, the zombies will migrate outside to find of it more food. A zombie exodus~

Chapter 15: Jungkook noooo. Bois, don't go to the refugee sight because I can tell you it won't end well. Have they never watched any zombie movie or tv show? Like, that never ends well for the main cast. The military/government will always fall quickly and refugee sights are always a bad place to be. Ahh, I just hope my boys will make it out okay

I literally almost cried when Sam was bitten like I legit thought him and Namjoon would somehow end together .. (●__●)
