The Shoebox LettersOctober 2005
Dear Yonghwa oppa
OMG! I am so sorry to hear about your parents! I know I complain too much about my family but I’m thankful that Dad and Mom are still so in love with each other (not unless they show us something different, you know what I mean). My friend, Yoona, her parents are divorce too, so she and her brother sometimes stay with their dad during weekends and holidays. She said at first it but eventually they got the hang of it. I don’t know if that will help you oppa, I don’t know the words to say to comfort you, but I’m here, just tell me everything that’s inside your heart. I am your personal journal.
Here’s my take on love and adults, well particularly your situation, will it be much easier for you to grow up having them beside you but is ready to kill each other the first second they have a chance? Will you be okay coming home to both parents throwing things and shouting at each other? If yes, then I’m really sorry that they have to end their marriage, but if you rather they make peace with each other separately, then isn’t this what’s best? Just my thoughts, what do I know. I’m 14! I know it will be hard, Yoona cried almost every day during 5th grade (that’s the reason why she transferred) and she was one tough cookie to break. If you feel mad or tired or angry, maybe best that you turn to music. How about you write a song? Send it to me, no need for lyrics perhaps just melodies, let your feeling ripple from your fingers to your strings, maybe, just maybe it’ll ease your aching heart a bit.
I’m glad you have friends with same interest as you, Yoona and Yuri dances, Taeyoen sings, and I play piano and violin, does that count as same interest? I sometimes I sing but not as good as Taeyeon because she really sings well and when I say well, I mean WELL. I also dance but I think I do okay only because I tire myself out but like natural born dancer? Nah. Why don’t you guys consider auditioning? I mean I know it’s a long shot but hey not bad of an idea right? Are there any entertainment company there in Busan? It’ll be nice if you guys can make it big, then I can go see one of your concerts! Then I can sell your letters to me! I’ll make a fortune! Hahahaha! Just kidding! But give it a serious thought oppa, I don’t know how well you guys play as a band but you as an individual? You are really really good. If I have my own entertainment business,
