Epilogue

The Way They Were

Epilogue

    Jungkook felt a piece of popcorn hit his left arm, which was currently draped around Rin’s shoulder. He turned around in annoyance only to spot Jimin and Iseul, both glaring at him, warning him to be careful where he put said arm. The two of them were extremely protective of Rin, and even though Jimin and Iseul were ecstatic that their best friends had finally started dating (goodness sakes they were so oblivious), that didn’t mean that they wanted to see public display of affection all the time. Jungkook personally thought that the couple just felt glad to have another couple for double dates.

    He started to pull his arm back to his side, sliding across Rin’s shoulders again. She grabbed his left hand and looked at him quizzically. Frantically he repeatedly shot his eyes as far left as he could, motioning to Jimin and Iseul behind them. Rin slowly turned her head back only to see the couple grinning at her innocently. She scowled and turned back to the movie grumpily, crossing her arms and leaning into her boyfriend (who gladly complied), as the pair shifted lower in their seats to avoid the small kernels flying through the air with surprisingly good aim.

Rin was once again lying outside in the park, staring at the stars. But there was something different this time; she didn’t really pay attention to the constellations -- no, not those stars. She was watching her boyfriend and her friends perform their most recent song. As a supportive friend, she opened up the messages app to send a couple texts after watching the video.

    To Iseul:

    || Wow! Jimin really killed this performance

    -- I know

    || … you’re too much of a proud girlfriend

    -- … I know

    To Jimin:

    || Hey you didn’t fail

    -- Of course rin. what did I even expect

    Rin could practically feel the annoyance radiate off aforementioned boyfriend. Jungkook was lying on her left side, his right arm wrapped around her waist and his left hand tucked under his head.

    “You know that one of those famous stars is right next to you, right?” he asked Rin scowling.

    “Wow, rub it in that you’re famous, why don’t you?” she said. He rolled his eyes. “Oh wait,” she continued, “you don’t need to do that when you have the fangirls to do it for you,” she finished smiling.

    He groaned, shifting onto his side to hide his face in her neck. “You know, I don’t know why they like you so much. Aren’t they supposed to hate you and try to make you break up with me like they do in the books?”

    She patted his hair fondly, marveling at the fluffiness that always poofed up after he washed it. “Because, dear, they love me. Shouldn’t you be thankful that your fans aren’t terrorizing your girlfriend?”

    “Well…,” he replied. She put a finger on his forehead and pushed his face away from hers.

“Remind me to thank the constellations later tonight, okay?” she said. He looked at her quizzically.

“Sure, but why?” he asked. Rin shifted to face him and closed her eyes, curling into the warmth he provided (honestly, the boy was like a walking heater) before explaining.

“They finally told me how to join the stars.” His arm tightened around her, and he rested his chin on her head.

What Rin Didn’t Know:

When she was staring at her phone with her face showered in reflections of color so bright she seemed to glow, Jungkook thanked the constellations and the regular stars and the planes pretending to be stars and everything else up there with them. He was finally given a star.

I know the number of subscribers this story has isn’t as big as the extremely well written ones here on aff, but I am still so thankful to each and every one of you. It means more than you can imagine. :) <3

For anyone wondering if there was a parallel in the story in the last line, there is: check the chapter “A Lightsaber?” and you should find it! If you can’t, just ask and I’ll point it out :)

Chapter 26: YES! I'm happy that you've already chosen the song that will fit the sequel for this story! Btw, I love the new title. It's perfect for the story hahaha! Also, don't be bothered by those people who judge fanfic writers. The most important thing is that you can write, put your imagination into words and make other people squeal because of your writings. <3

Fighting to you authornim! I will definitely read your other stories.. <3
