A Hard DayYoungjae handed Hyeji off to Jackson when they arrived at the tiny coffee shop inside the airport. Jackson happily took the little girl into his arms and they left, going to some shop a little bit down the way. Mark sat down at one of the round tables near a window and waited. What was Youngjae going to say to him? He hadn't even thought about that. Youngjae came back with two drinks. He sat one down in front of Mark. "An Americano, two creams, right?" Mark nodded, slowly. How did he remember Mark's favorite drink? The older took a sip from the cup. Youngjae had kept his smile on his face. Mark sighed happily. He never remembered a time when Youngjae wasn't smiling. The younger always seemed surprisingly happy. "So Mark, who was that dashing guy that came with you?" Mark smiled slightly on instinct. Younjae took notice of that. He was hoping that Mark had moved on. He knew that Mark liked to hang on to every little thing he could.
"He's my manager, Jackson. He's very nice and good at his job." Youngjae frowned slightly. He had expected a different answer, but there was something else behind his words that sparked something up in Mark. Youngaje just knew that something else might happen to the two. "And what about you? I see that you have a kid now. How did that happen?" Youngjae smiled, thinking back to the day. It wasn't the best story for Hyeji, but it made Youngjae pretty happy.
"Hyeji was left on set of one of my dramas. I felt so sad for her. I tried to look for her parents, but no one came around. Then I went to find a case worker to see if they could do anything for her. They said that they would have to put her in a home. I couldn't let them to do that to her, so I filed for custody and here we are." Mark smiled. Youngjae was kind-hearted.
"That's good." Mark took another sip of his drink. This talk had somehow became awkward after just a few minutes. He grabbed the key that was still hanging around his neck. He had almost forgotten that it was still on him. Almost.
"You still have that?" Youngjae pointed to the key. He still remembered the day he gave the older the necklace. He smiled slightly. He thought Mark had gotten over him a long time ago. It sure seemed like it through all the interviews he had watched of Mark. He nodded, embarrassed. Mark didn't want Youngaje to know that he had kept everything that the younger had given him. He wanted Youngjae to think he had moved on, but it was too late for that. "You really need to get over me." The older opened his mouth to speak, but Youngjae continued. "Mark, I didn't break up with you because I didn't love you. I still love you with all my heart, but I made the choice to start my career. I wanted to better myself and I knew you had a dream. Do you really think that we could've done what we are doing if we were still together?" Mark shook his head, clearing his thoughts. No, Youngaje wouldn't say stuff like that. He wouldn't.
"We could've made it work somehow." Youngjae shook his head. He knew explaining this to Mark would go like this. That's why he didn't say anything to the older when they split. He didn't want Mark to get worked up.
"You know that we wouldn't of. You've seen what the press do to people like us. I wouldn't want that for either one of us. I mean it's hard for me to keep Hyeji out of the press. It would be harder to do that for us. Look, Mark please don't be upset by this. It's almost been three years. Please let go of the thought. We will always be friends." Mark sighed, letting go of the key. He knew one day that he would have to let go of Youngjae. He just hoped it wouldn't be today.
