A Hard DayJackson stood in the same spot everyday, holding the same sign to attract people to come into the store. He hated it. He had wanted to quit a while ago, but he needed the money to help out his family. His mother's medical bills were pilling up and with his father being away all the time, he had to do whatever it took to help his mother. He sighed, flipping the sign around. Another hour and he would be done for the day. He could hold out that long.
Many people passed him, stopping to read the sign, but never went in. It was like that everyday. He tried to tell mangement that this idea never worked, but that didn't seem to help. He was still stuck behind the purple and white arrow that read, 'Special! Two for one Candy Lemon!' He didn't even know what their Candy Lemon product was.
"Hey Jacks! It's break time!" Jackson almost dropped the sign when he heard Namjoon yelling for him from the front door. He ran for the door, before Namjoon went back in. The Younger snorted at Jackson as he threw down the sign. "Is it that hard to hold a sign all day?" Jackson glared at him.
"Yes, it really is. Why don't you try it?" Namjoon shrugged, following the older to the break room.
"I'll switch with you. You can work the front and I'll hold the sign. It can't be that hard. Besides promotions end in a few days, you won't have to be flipping it soon.Jackson perked at the idea. If he switched with Namjoon, he wouldn't have to be outside in the hot sun anymore, but he still only get paid for the sign work. Did that matter if he worked in the front? Of course not. Working front sounded a whole lot better than standing outside all day.
"Sure, let's do that. But you better take it as serious as I do." Namjoon laughed softly.
"Right, I'll keep that in mind."

Jackson finished up his last day outside. No one new came in as he predicted. He smiled at all the people that passed by and he flipped his sign like his life depended on it, but still no dice. It didn't matter. No one really came to the shop to begin with. The locals liked to stop in sometimes, but they didn't buy anything. Out of towners shopped here at times as well, buying the small amount of products they could. Jackson was grateful for those times, it meant Namjoon and himself were doing their jobs right. At seven, the shop closed when a mother and daughter pair walked through the glass door with a wrapped gift. Jackson smiled at them as they passed by. He quickly ran inside to get rid of the sign. He slide through the shop to get to the break room. He stripped out of his uniform not bothering to close the door behind him. His uniform was replaced with the street clothes that he started the day in. He clocked out and left the break room. "I'll see you tomorrow, Namjoon." The older called, running out of the shop. He couldn't get out of there fast enough.
