Summary: Minho is forced into quick thinking once they get out of the Haunted House.
Going to the amusement park had not been Minho’s idea. But he prides himself on being a good friend so when Kibum shows up at their doorstep with a befuddled Jinki squashed under one arm and an annoyed-looking Taemin under the other, he can’t get himself to decline (however much he likes to see Kibum suffer).
Jonghyun isn’t too thrilled as Minho rips him away from his writing and virtually drags him down to the car either, but his sulky mood is quickly forgotten once they arrived.
Kibum insists they go on every ride possible, which, in Kibum’s book, means the ones who are not too wild nor too high up (“I’ll be going to my grave before I go on those”) and that rules out a lot. It really isn’t much fun.
They’re strolling around, going from one stall to the other, sometimes playing the habitual games of Spin the Wheel or shooting into a clown’s mouth with a water gun, though not winning any prizes (much to Minho’s dismay), sometimes buying junk food or synthetically-tasting sweets (much to Jonghyun’s delight). That’s when Taemin turns to them with a wicked smirk instead of the utterly bored expression he’s been sporting ever since they arrived and Minho knows something (or someone) is about to go down.
“Hey, what do you say we go in the Haunted House?” he says. Kibum tenses visibly while Jinki is bouncing on his feet with childish excitement. Minho’s not surprised that Kibum immediately starts arguing that, no, they’re not going in and that’s final. What is surprising, however, is Taemin’s persistency, and even more so when he actually manages to convince Kibum that they should go (it’s only because Kibum is incredibly stubborn about not showing weakness when accused, which Taemin has taken to diligently use to his advantage, Minho reckons).
And that’s how they end up at the actually-not-so-scary-looking Haunted House. Kibum’s legs are shaking hard. They’ve barely stepped inside.
Not even halfway through, Kibum is screaming and shrieking and yelping at the top of his lungs. Minho doesn’t get him. Sure, he can feel Jonghyun squeezing his hand and pressing closer every so often, but he’s pretty sure than even Jonghyun thinks it’s pretty dull for a Haunted House.
They (somehow) make it through to the end, all sporting different expressions. Kibum is teary-eyed and still in utter shock, Taemin is fighting to keep down the world’s biggest grin and Jinki is looking constipated. Minho understands. The blood flow has been cut off in his arm for the last 15 minutes (courtesy of Kibum’s death grip, of course).
In pity of him (and Kibum, really) Minho casts a quick look around, snatches a hair band with fluffy dog-ears attached to it and places them on top of Jonghyun’s white mess of hair. He then moves the boy right in front of Kibum because he knows that the only cure for Kibum’s current terror-jam is puppy-therapy (and Jonghyun just so happens to be convenient). Jonghyun’s combined puppy-ears, wide eyes and short stature do the job and mere moments after, Kibum has let go of Jinki in favor of fawning over Jonghyun’s excessive cuteness, cupping his cheeks and smoothing his hair in an overly motherly fashion.
Taemin finally boasts out laughing.
Minho mentally pats his shoulder for a job well done.
After Minho’s payed for the accessory and Kibum’s done cooing over Jonghyun (well, he doesn’t really stop, just tones it down), they’re well on their way again. Minho notices Jonghyun reaching up, but he’s faster, trapping his tiny body and tiny arms in a firm hold from behind.
“Yah, what are you doing?” Jonghyun whines.
“Making sure I get full profit. I payed for those, you know,” Minho clarifies.
Jonghyun huffs a sarcastic “full profit, he says,” in return.
“As if you don’t like it.” Minho smiles into his nape and places a kiss there. He feels Jonghyun squirm in his arms for a moment but he has no intention of letting go.
“Guys look up!”
They both snap their heads up at that only to see Kibum holding up his phone in a 90-degree angle. Minho rolls his eyes but nevertheless leans his chin against the top of Jonghyun’s head when he feels the boy press back and bend his elbows around Minho’s forearm.
(When Minho receives a picture message from Kibum the next day, he gets a warm feeling in the pit of his stomach at the sight of the matching lovesick smiles on their faces. He quickly sets it as his wallpaper and locks his phone when Jonghyun shoots him a distrustful look.)
A/N: These two dorks are gonna be the death of me. I swear, they're so cute and adorable, I can’t even. And Idk, I'm not really too happy with this :( I might change it a bit when I get around to editing. Oh, and unplanned subtle!Onkey snuck up on me while writing this, but that's actually one thing I enjoyed.
