Hyesung and Junjin sit facing each other.

“Andy used to be in the same squad as us, before he got killed.”

It is evident to the older man how the cryptic dead colleague of his friends can cause massive emotion fluctuation in them. He looks at the sad face opposite him, suddenly feeling protective of the man. Behind the tall and charming figure hides a vulnerable child, Hyesung thought. He decides to stop probing about the dead man.

“Why did Dongwan leave your unit?”

“Because of me...” Junjin says quietly. “Dongwan hyung had such bright future. He was the top cadet of our cohort, a rising star.”

Hyesung is surprised by the news. Dongwan never talks about his past in the special crime unit or his cadet school. But Hyesung is more surprised by how every of his question seem to open a wound in the younger man.

“Jin-ah…” He places his hand on the man’s shoulder.

“Hyung, are you going out with Eric hyung?” Junjin asks out of the blue, looking genuinely concern. Hyesung never miss how Junjin addresses his boyfriend as ‘hyung’.

“Do you know him?”

Junjin nods. “He was in our squad, Minwoo hyung, Dongwan hyung, Eric hyung, me and…Andy.”

“You were an ex-officer.”

Eric turns over to his boyfriend. “Dongwan told you that?” He asks.

Hyesung shakes his head. “Junjin,” he answers. “Why didn’t you tell me about it?”

“I don’t see the need to put that in an article,” Eric turns back to his computer.

“I want to know your past NOT because of any article!” Hyesung retorts, annoys by Eric’s reply. “I am your boyfriend. I want to who you really are, what kind of person I am dating, I want to know more about the person I love and want to spend the rest of my life with!”

He sees Eric freezes momentarily. The man stands up, advances towards him before wrapping his arms tightly around Hyesung.

“Thank you Hyesungie…” Eric murmurs, head resting in the curve of Hyesung’s neck. “Thank you for choosing me over him.”

Night time, Eric quietly tiptoed out of the room when Hyesung fell asleep. He takes the silver pendulum out of the drawer and gazes at it, like he always does when reminiscing about the past. Eric exhales slowly and put the watch aside. Maybe it is time he is ready to move on.

He turns to the starless sky and wonders if Andy is at the other side looking down at him.

“Andy-yah…” Eric pauses to sort out his thought. “I think I found someone else that I really love. I thought he is just something I find solace in, but my heart felt funny when he said he love me and want to spend the rest of his life with me. My heartbeat stops when listening to him sing.”

The man turns to the bedroom door left ajar, watching at the sleeping figure on the bed.

“You would ask me to go for it right, Andy?”
