Calm before the storm

Two months had passed almost in the blink of an eye, bringing them at the doorsteps of the last thesis they had to write to graduate from KAIST. Of course, the genius had two since he was enrolled at two universities. Between having to prepare for both his masters graduation and still worried if he’ll have a vision or not, he was exhausted.

Even as he stayed inside his house, at the table in the living room, going through book and tapping on his laptop, he couldn’t help but find himself nodding his head, falling asleep from time to time. He was in one of those moments where he just drifted off and was close to sleep when the door to his apartment opened and she entered the place.

She let out a smile, wanting to comfort him since she knew he had a hard time. He had been on the edge for the first week after Donghae gave his thoughts on the visions. She had even promised not to go anywhere too far without letting them know. With the university knowing they were dating, they had even suggested they clear up one apartment and move in together.  They had refused, not because they didn’t think they could pull it off but because they weren’t sure it was right for the other students living on the same floor and right below and above them.

They had managed to casually hint to the Principal that some of the students might not get enough sleep without having to actually tell him they’d probably have every night if they did move in.  That didn’t mean they didn’t spend a lot of nights together. She had a key to his apartment and he had one to hers so often they just stopped at one and spent the night. It was actually quite useful to be this close to each other because they could just pick one apartment and spend time together.

She moved closer to him, sitting on her knees next to him, moving her finger through the locks that covered his forehead. He was really cute when dozing off, his head nodding back and forth since he wasn’t completely asleep. She took a glance at his laptop and nodded her head , amazed that he had almost reached the end of his thesis. Just in case, she decided to save it as a separate file and then push the laptop a bit away. Just in case he actually fell asleep on the laptop and ended up closing it in the process.

She leaned closer and gave him a kiss on the cheek. She had gotten to see new sides of him now that she was actually dating him. The snarky devil like him was still there but the difference was that now he seemed to know when to stop before she would actually get upset. And she discovered a much more polite Kyuhyun as well.

He would open the door for her, let her enter first, take out a seat for her and even open cans or bottles for her. He didn’t dare go that much to the lab and whenever he was inside of it, if she came inside, he would properly stop and pay attention to her.  He wasn’t the only one that changed. She found herself sometimes checking his clothes to see if he kept warm, fixing his shirt when he needed to wear one.  She even started cooking for him from time to time so he wouldn’t depend only on delivery and he actually joined her at some point.

They were both changing and for the sake of the other. It was quite an interesting process. Seeing him asleep like that, it made her want to put a blanket on his back and then push away any item he could bump his head against if he did fall asleep on the table. She did that and then took a seat next to him, just in case he would fall.

There was still something she was curious about and she knew he would mind if she did search through it but he had shared a bit of it already so she was sure he wasn’t going to get really mad if she went through it. Bringing the diary she had found before back to the living room, she took a seat on the ground with her back against the couch leg, close to him so she could help him.

She was always nervous to open his diary. The things he had written inside of it were related to her and she often found herself discovering a rather romantic and shy Kyuhyun.

I am writing again after a long time. I can’t stop my heart from beating. I know she sees me only as a friend but... my heart beats so fast around her. She went off on a date with her boyfriend and I can’t help but think the guy is not worthy of her. He doesn’t have half of the brain she has. If he were even a quarter as smart as her, maybe I could accept him but he is so average.

Average looks, smaller than me, even his eyes look weird. They remind me of Shin Dong Yeop and he is probably as much of a ert as him. He owns a bike. Not a motorbike but a bike. Please... I owned a motorbike and she didn’t even look at it twice and now she is going on bike dates.  

Am I ... really that different from the type of guy she likes? Well, her lost because I am not changing myself into a loser.

Or a full of himself Kyuhyun. Wasn’t this bike guy the same guy he said he looks decent? So this was what he was thinking behind her back without her knowing.  She flipped through the pages, surprised to find one page where his writing looked like such a mess, as if he was in a hurry. She narrowed her eyes to take a better look and even brought the diary close up to her face.

This is bad. Really bad. Extremely bad. She looks so happy and it kills me. That aura she has, that smile... The way she just feels... ... I am sure. She had with the guy. That skin glow, the way she smiles...she did it. What if he hurt her, tricked her, used her or had her do something bad? What....

it. I didn’t think I’d be the first but it still hurts. I wished it could be me. I would treat her like a jewelry. What if the guy hurts her? What if he breaks her heart? If the motherer breaks up with her or hurts her after taking away her precious first time, I’m going to beat the hell out of him.

Damn it.

Now that was a surprise. She had never imagined he had figured out when it was her first time having . Did she really have that flow and a changed aura? Thinking back to it, she and the guy did break up about two months later but it had been her who wanted to break up. Thinking eve harder about it, she did see him after that with a cut on the side of his mouth. She gaped and then turned to look at the partially sleeping Kyuhyun. He didn’t...or did he? She didn’t take him as the type to get into a fight but if he did hit the guy, though he didn’t deserve it, then he was a pretty cool guy.
