Chapter VI
Lost Promises (손실 약속)Chapter 6
December 2nd, 2014
“Taeyeon.”
A knock.
“Taeyeon.”
The door swings open swiftly and beyond the wooden doorframe, is a standing Taeyeon, her hair tangled and messed up. She is breathing heavily, her whole body shaking in either fury or nausea. All because of Jessica’s hurtful but too true claims.
“What?” she growls frustratedly.
Tiffany peers over her best friend’s shoulder and into the room; a disaster caused by a human hurricane. “This is what you’ve been up to?”
Guilt stabs Taeyeon’s heart, a sharp arrow sent through the air, aimed at her softest and weakest point. Her heart. So many times had it been broken, yet the presence of the girls have cured it. Built it up, like a wall. Clearly, the past scars have never been mended properly. They still seem fresh and painful. Some things can be forgiven, sure, but not forgotten.
“Answer me.”
“Go away.” Taeyeon mumbles, her arm already in motion to close the door.
“Stop pushing me away.” Tiffany explodes, stopping the door midway. She kicks the door wider, surprising Taeyeon with her strength. “Stop it. Stop it. Stop it.” she stomps her foot down in rage.
Never before has Tiffany been this angry with Taeyeon. She never stomps her foot. Never kicks open a door. Never explodes. This isn’t the Tiffany that Taeyeon knows. This–This is another girl.
“Tiffany…”
“Don’t say my name.”
Taeyeon sighs and looks away. So many things does she have to say; the words screaming, kicking, and punching to leak themselves out of her clutch on sanity. Her grip is lessening on lucidity. She is ready to give up, drown in the dark waters of the abyss. Perhaps the Morningstar will lead her through.
Death.
“Don’t you dare leave me.” a shaky whisper, so delicate and sad. It snaps Taeyeon’s heart in two. “Don’t you dare leave us.”
She runs her fingers through her hair, unbrushed and full of knots. How long has it been since she had went out of her room?
Five days.
There are too many decisions to make. Too many to count. She can’t process anything, these days. Literally. The grief and remorse had hit her hard. There’s nothing left to do but wait. Wait for time to mend the wounds that will never be buried behind the twilight.
“Oh Tiffany.” Taeyeon exhales, embracing the crushen girl in front of her. She hugs tight, feeling Tiffany’s rough breathing on her neck. She enjoys it, when her best friend breathes into her. Inhale, exhale. She loves being near Tiffany, a flicker of joy and happiness always igniting when with her.
“I love you, TaeTae.”
“I love you more.” Taeyeon pauses, thinking about the dreams she had last night. Tiffany as an Angel. Tiffany as her own; Tiffany forever hers. “Tiffany?”
“Yeah?”
“Why is it, that sometimes, in my dream, you are mine, but in life, you’re just a dream?”
“No, I am always with you.”
“Why do you seem so… far?”
Tiffany chuckles, attempting to lighten things up, but failing with the pronounced heartbreak in it. “I’m not far now, am I?”
Then, everything changes. Taeyeon finds herself kissing Tiffany desperately, ignoring the irritating throb of her teeth always knocking Tiffany's. They kiss like there is no reality. That the world is ending. She hates herself for being a skeleton; wishes that she can be anyon
