“What the did I say about hanging out with him?” Jiyong seethed as Dara entered her apartment.

“What are you on about now?” Dara glared at her boyfriend.

“You and that guy! Who else would I be talking about?” He angrily crossed his arms.

“Kiyong?? You have got to be kidding me,” she scoffed in disbelief, “He’s my co-worker, of course I have to see him and attend company social dinners with him!”

“Still, I want you to stay away from him Dara,” he scowled.

“Why? You don’t own me Ji. You can’t tell me who I can or can’t see!”

“You. Are. Mine.” He breathed, “I can’t just sit by and watch some kid try to flirt and steal you away. Tsk, that kid is so obvious,” he said distastefully, “I can’t just sit by and watch my girlfriend get stolen away.”

 *SLAAPP* Dara slapped him right across the face.

“What the was that for?” he asked as he caressed his cheek.

“I’m done Ji. I’m done with this, with you and your possessiveness. It was cute at first, but now it’s just too much. If you can’t trust me to even have one single male friend, we are done.”

He looked at her in shock, She’s…she’s breaking up with me? He thought. He clenched his fist and let out short laugh, how convenient, he thought sarcastically, just when dad is about to ship my off to another country she breaks up with me. Such perfect timing.

“Look,” she took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down, “I think it’s best for us to stop before we hurt ourselves even more.” Part of me even thinks we shouldn’t have even fallen in love. What happened to you Ji? What has our love turned you into? “This,” she slipped off her half of their couple rings and placed it into his hand, “I can’t have this anymore. It’s too much.”

His heart ached at her words, “You’re right,” he let out a loud sigh and placed the ring into his pocket, “before things get too deep we should stop.” Before we hurt ourselves more…before you start to really hate me. “In the end, we started to become an obligation. There’s no love anymore.” Our love is no longer pure…it’s ugly and clouded. I stare into her beautiful eyes, What happened to us? “I guess this is goodbye. We shouldn’t have made all of those promises because we never would’ve known that tomorrow would have led us here. But, I really meant it when I said I liked you…” never forget that Dara, he thought as he walked towards the door to leave. Please don’t hate me.

As the door closes behind him, Dara slides down onto the floor. “Selfish bastard,” she cried as tears started to prick her eyes.

“Thanks son,” his father pulled him in for a hug, “I know it’s a lot to ask for you to taking over to our Japan branch.”

“This day had to come eventually, right?” Jiyong replied as he pulled away from his father. “I better get going.”

“Have a safe trip son,” he said as he waved goodbye to Jiyong.

Taking one last look around the airport, Jiyong let out a sigh, why are you so disappointed? You already broke up…why do you think she’ll be here to send you off? Or even worse, she’d come to try and stop you from leaving? He laughed at his own foolishness as he walked to his gate. He stopped at a trash can that was right in front of his gate before pulling out her ring. “I guess this really is goodbye,” he muttered as he twirled the ring between his fingers.

9 months later.

Tucking the little bundle closer to her chest, Dara lightly caressed the sleeping baby’s cheek before letting out a small sigh, “That selfish bastard.”
