“Daddy, are monsters real?”
Cha Min Jun, age six, is devouring an ice cream cone. She is sitting next to her father on a park bench. She is inquisitive. She is bright for her age.
“Well, pumpkin, it depends on what type of monster you’re talking about.”
Min Jun is confused. Is there more than just one type of monster?
“You know. Like the ones in the movies," she clarifies.
Min Jun's father chuckles.
“C’mon Minnie, you know those don’t exist.”
“Then what types of monsters do?”
He falls silent. For a reason unbeknownst to Min Jun, monsters are a sensitive subject for her father.
