CHAPTER 2

The car shook as it bumped on the road and Jinhwan held tight at his seat. Man, Mira driving was like a rollercoaster. He didn’t comment anything on it and the both of them fell into a silent with the song on the radio substituting their talking instead.

He looked out of the window and felt the jittery feeling in his stomach as he remembered where they were heading. He watched with awe as the houses slowly transformed from an all normal family resident to mansion as high as three storey buildings. They were in the rich part of the resident.

“You didn’t tell me we were going to a rich person’s party?” He faced Mira.

Mira threw a glance at him as she swirved her car to the left. “It’s B.I. Of course, he’s rich. I thought you read the card I gave you?”

“I did. But how am I suppose to know who’s B.I?” He confessed and he thinks he heard Mira muttering underneath her breath about forgetting that Jinhwan was a introvert of a person and he never left his house.

Jinhwan cocked an eyebrow at that and Mira smiled sweetly at him, pretending to be innocent as they came to a stop.

Mira got out of the car without another word and Jinhwan stepped out as well. He looked over at where they are and his mouth fell wide open as he registered the view.

“Oh. My. God.” He exhaled.

The building was nothing like Jinhwan’s house. Not even a little. It was two times bigger than his. Beige bricks stacked onto one another and a blue rooftop that reminded Jinhwan of the castles he would read in the fairytale books he had. There was a fountain in the middle of the lawn, right in front of the building. A sculpture stood in the centre and Jinhwan marveled at the details it had. Must’ve cost a lot of money.

Actually- he swirled his head around- all of this must’ve cost a whole lot of money.

Mira literally dragged him by the arm and walked to the entrance door. Jinhwan was still  too busy looking around. His brand new boots shuffling against the porcelain tiles as he gets pulled.

“Welcome, madam, sir.”

He turned his head and saw a butler heading up towards them, a tuxedo pirched firmly on her figure. There’s a clipboard on his arms and if he peered over he could see it was a list of names.

“Your name,  please.”

“Mira. And this is my partner. Jinhwan.”

The butler nodded and proceeded to tick off Mira’s name, writing ‘Jinhwan’ at the blank spot beside it.

“Please come in. The party is at the back of the house.” The butler showed them the way and bowed once before heading back to the entrance. Jinhwan felt his heart beating loud as he looked around at the people around him.

There were all sorts of people that he weren’t familiar with. Actually, coming from a home-schooled person, the only people he knows was Mira here. He turns to look at Mira, but the only thing he sees in an empty space.

“Mira?”

He spun around, searching for the girl but she was nowhere to be seen. She didn’t just left him here did she? He waited for several minutes, standing at a spot like some dumb stick and came to a conclusion that Mira did just left him there to his own when he gets pushed very hardly by a guy.

“Hey, don’t stand in the way man!” The guy yelled and Jinhwan cowered, going to a lesser place where he wouldn’t be a nuisance. The only place was the bar at the inside of the house and so he headed there with hopes that Mira would probably be there as well because he had no ideas how party worked out like. Of course she wasn’t. Not among the crowds at least.

He sat on one of the empty chairs and breathed in, feeling overwhelm at the whole situation. Turning his head, he stared at the numerous people dancing and grinding on each other, the beat pumping loud in his ears that he almost couldn’t listen to his own thoughts.

The swimming pool at the back of the house was wide and the party people splashed inside them in bikinis and underpants with air bed floats on top of the water, people pushing one another off in a game of whos was the last one to stay on top of it wins.

It looked fun but he wouldn’t participate in it. He’d get trampled.

In the corner of his eyes, he saw a guy throwing a basketball into the hop, hollering when he succeeded with his friends. He puffed his cheek and stared into his hands. He needed friends.

A sudden loud sound of people applausing and yelling with enthusiasm made him flinch in surprise as it caught h
