They had been running for the last two hours, only making stops to rest momentarily. "Kris!" Jessica cried out, exhausted. "I can't go on like this!"
He stopped and turned around, his eyebrows creased with concern. "Are you okay?"
Jessica grasped her rib cage, attempting to relieve a cramp. "I'm so tired," she panted.
"Fine, we can sit down to rest for a while," Kris put his hand on her shoulder and gently helped her sit down. They sat down, leaning against a large tree, panting.
"Kris?" Jessica asked. "How were you so precise when guessing the time of their deaths?"
"Whose deaths?" he asked, lifting an eyebrow. "Oh those men who assaulted us?" Jessica nodded. "I've studied ISC for a while now. Normally it takes, on average, 97 seconds, after contamination, until death. I assumed that those men had been following us for a while and I saw one of their arms, it was black. Usually ISC attacks the arms first and then the legs, then the head eventually follows. The arm is contaminated at usually 27 seconds after contamination, then another 27 seconds for the other arm. The legs die 30 seconds after the first
