The Taste of Death

The park in front of Savannah Choi's home was brightly lit by ornate black lampposts that lined the cobbled walkways. It gave the illusion that it was still early in the evening. Kyuhyun was a couple of meters ahead of me. If Savannah sees him, he'll immediately fall back and make a turn. Then I'll take over and tail the suspect. That way, Savannah won't get too suspicious that somebody's following her.
I heaved a sigh and adjusted my pace, trying to keep a safe distance between me and Kyuhyun's mop-like hair. Suddenly, the mop disappeared.
Omo! Did Savannah see him? I thought nervously. My heart began pounding against my chest. This is it. I guess I'll have to take over.
I walked faster hoping to catch up to the suspect who was probably way ahead by now. As I half-jogged, a dozen million thoughts came pouring into my head. What if Savannah is carrying a gun? What if she suddenly turned around and shot me? What if she's leading us into a trap? What did I get myself into?
I almost screamed when someone grabbed me from behind, their hand clamped on my mouth. I felt myself being gently pulled back, behind a skinny tree; felt someone's breath on the side of my face. "Shhh..."
The hand slid down from my lips and I turned to face my captor. "Kyuhyun?"
He didn't reply. Instead, he pointed at the brick townhouse facing the park's exit. I could see Savannah standing at the top of the steps, probably waiting for someone to open the door.
