Chapter 4 The movie night
Blinking. It was the only thing Hyukjae could master up doing at the sight before him. Who would have thought that the next door neighbor would ever want anything to do with the black haired man again? This was not how it usually went. They didn’t see each other for a few days, so as always Hyukjae thought that the worst that could happen happened. That the other didn’t want anything to do with him again. Like it usually went.
But this seemed to be another case all in itself. Because no matter how many times Hyukjae opened and closed his eyes the view before him was still the same.
He walked by a pastry shop and thought of me, remembering that I like sweets.
Apparently that was not the case this time around. Donghae payed attention to him last time they met (also being the second time ever, both times being the same evening). Even going to the extent to actually store it in his memory. After a while just staring at his visitor, Hyukjae came to his senses and smiled towards the other man. Nodding he moved the box from one hand to the other.
“Thank you. Not that I expected to get anything in return for the dinner. Thought I shouldn’t really eat them now, considering I just ate most of the ice cream tube I had in my freezer.” Accepting the carton with cupcakes, the teacher stepped to the side and gestured with a sweeping motion inviting the brown haired man in.
Laughing lightly Donghae walked in through the doorway of the apartment. Well inside Donghae started taking off his shoes and dark green jacket, putting everything where it goes in the small hallway. After he was done he followed the resident further inside.
It was a weird feeling for Hyukjae to not mind that someone interrupted his movie night (or day. It didn’t really matter when during the span of the day he was watching). If it had been anyone else- be it a friend or one of his family members, they all would have been dead to him if either of them dared to disturb him in the middle of a film. Most of them had learned that the hard way. Especially if it was one of his all-time favorite ones. But standing in the middle of the small tiny entryway, seeing in the corner of his eye the paused screen he was more interested in talking to his guest. Weird indeed.
Making their way inside the residence they made it into the living room. Well inside the two men took a seat in the light grey sofa, Hyukjae was wholeheartedly freaking out. This being do to two things. 1) He was not upset about the fact that he had to stop the movie and interact with someone in the middle of it. Even worst, during the unraveling part none the less. 2) What if the unique neighbor next door would judge him for his taste in films and Saturday night activity. Most single people around their age was out during the weekend. Most often hanging out with friends, being out partying or going on a date. All three Hyukjae himself seldom did. At least not out of free will. Never before had he given it a piece of his mind. He usually didn’t care what others thought of him.
“Oh, movie night!! Great timing of me. I first thought that you wouldn’t be at home. Then I re-thought that thought. Is that how you say it? Either way. Why would you be out when you could be not outside? And then I got the cupcakes and I really hoped that you would be at home. Which you were. Are. When you first didn’t open up I got worried that you was not in. Or that you got lost on the way home after being somewhere else. Oh well, maybe that just happens to me. I would have been devastated if one of those had been the case. How could I eat all of these cupcakes by myself? And taking them to work would be a no-go.
