Sunday came around quicker than expected. Apparently the battery on my phone had bloated, rendering it useless for its primary function. That meant I had to run to the shop to get a new one and wait for that to fully charge too.

I hummed to myself as I finally my phone, the loud twinkle of the boot up screen almost making me jump out of my skin. Once the home screen was being displayed, my phone began to vibrate again. Each signifying a new message.

Jonginnn: Am I bothering you? [17:59]

Jonginnn: Sorry if I am. [18:20]

Jonginnn: I guess I was, sorry. [19:30]

Jonginnn: You’re not going to leak this number are you? [22:24]

I felt guilty as I read each of the messages in turn, realising he must have thought I was ignoring him on purpose again. I silently cursed my phone again and quickly went to type a message back.

Abigail ~: I’m so sorry Jongin! My phone battery died on me so I had to get a new one this morning. [12:43]

Abigail ~: I wasn’t ignoring you I promise :( :( [12:44]

Jonginnn: Oh Hyemin. Hi. Thanks ok then. [12:45]

Jonginnn: I thought maybe you would put my number online… [12:45]

Abigail ~: I would never do that!! What kind of person do you take me for? keke [12:47]

Jonginnn: I’m thankful for that^^ [12:49]

Jonginnn: What’re you doing now? [12:50]

Abigail ~: I’m just lying on my bed. Lazy~~ [12:51]

Jonginnn: I wish I could be lazy too :( [12:52]

Abigail ~: Oh are you not at home? [12:54]

Jonginnn: No I’m at SM, we’re training today. Practicing our dance routine for our comeback. [12:54]

Abigail ~: I remember your dancing being good! Do you have a choreographer? [12:55]

Jonginnn: Thanks! We have some different choreographers that come in but sometimes I get to help choreograph some bits too. [12:56]

Abigail ~: Wow you must be very talented! [12:57]

Jonginnn: Not really. I just practise a lot^^ [12:57]

Abigail ~: Oh am I distracting you? I don’t want to spoil your practise session. [12:59]

Jonginnn: No it’s fine. We’re having a break at the moment. All though the others are asking what I’m doing keke. I’m not usually someone who uses their phone a lot during practise. [13:00]

Abigail ~: Keke. What did you tell them? [13:01]

Jonginnn: I said to mind their own business keke. [13:02]

I didn’t reply for a while. His message got me thinking about what exactly we are. Are we friends? Are we just acquaintances? If he is messaging me just because he is thankful for Monday, then why is he still messaging?

Abigail ~: Kim Jongin. [13:10]

Abigail ~: Not to sound rude, but why are you still messaging me? You thanked me for Monday and everything… Why would a talented and good looking member of EXO want to text me of all people? [13:11]

Jonginnn: So I’m good looking to you? ;) [13:12]

Abigail ~: I errm… [13:12]

Abigail ~: Yeah I guess you’re good looking. I mean you’re an idol. Aren’t they all good looking? [13:14]

Jonginnn: I don’t like the title idol. [13:15]

Abigail ~: Sorry if I offended you. [13:16]

Jonginnn: Not at all. You called me good looking. From a cute girl that’s the best compliment a guy can get at this stage. ;D :D :D [13:17]

Jonginnn: But in all seriousness, I’m still messaging you because I’m interested in being friends. Is that ok with you? [13:18]

Abigail ~: I guess yes. [13:19]

Jonginnn: I’m glad^^ keke [13:19]

Jonginnn: I have to go back to practising Hyemin. Have a good day^^ I’ll message you later. [13:20]

Abigail ~: Work hard! [13:20]

Jonginnn: Thanks [13:21]

I locked my phone after the last message and quickly stood up and went to the bathroom. I spent a few minutes staring through my reflection in the mirror, the Hazel eyes of my opposite counterpart bearing into me with such conviction.

Why would Jongin want to be friends with me? It doesn’t make any sense. I’m just your average high school student, living each day as I did the last. My hair passes through my fingers until I reach a small tangle near the bottom. I tug at it a little and it loosens slightly. ‘I’m not even pretty’ I think to myself, unless he just wants someone to screw over. I shook the thought out of my head. Jongin was nicer than I had anticipated and he hadn’t given me any reason not to think so yet.

It wasn’t until lunch break on Tuesday that I received another message from Jongin. My phone vibrating in my pocket as I chatted to Seulgi about nothing much as we sat with our group around our normal table.

Jonginnn: Hey! [12:58]

Abigail ~: Hi~ [13:00]

Jonginnn: Sorry for the late reply. I’ve been so busy with so many things these past few days. [13:01]

Abigail ~: It’s ok, I know you’re busy^^ [13:02]

Jonginnn: Well I have an hour break now! How was your Monday at school? [13:03]
