Ch. [02]
Rain of Blades
Coming into his classroom, Hyukjae fixed himself on his assigned seat and sighed deeply. He was just a few minutes early so maybe he could sleep in the meantime. He leaned against his table and closed his eyes, hearing whispers all over the classroom before hearing the chair by his side slide and his partner sit down.
Hyukjae opened his eyes, his cheek pressed against the table. He sighed deeply as he saw Siwon by his side. "Hey Hyuk," the taller greeted with a charming smile.
Hyukjae smiled back and straightened his back. "Hey," he chuckled. "Good thing you're my partner, that way I don't have to pretend I'm interested in whatever everyone has to say to me."
Siwon laughed softly. "You do that?" He asked and shook his head. "Bad Hyukjae."
Hyukjae rolled his eyes and sighed softly. "It's just that I'm tired..."
“It’s only the first day of classes,” Siwon commented. “Have you been practicing?”
Hyukjae chuckled and glanced at Siwon. “I hope you won’t mind losing your best friend to me, Siwon,” he said. “Because he won’t last too long.”
“Hyukjae,” Siwon sighed. “You’re scary,” he shook his head. “You have no idea how strong he is, really,” he looked at him serious. “Believe me when I tell you everything will get better if the families make a pact.”
“We did already,” Hyukjae frowned, “we promised each other to kill the last one of them. Until that happens, we won’t stop.”
The teacher came in and both turned to the front. It was luck that Kyuhyun and none of the Lees had classes together or that found each other in the halls or they would kill each other instantly without respecting the rules of the academy. It didn’t matter for them.
Siwon was lucky too, for being part of a neutral family.
There were different versions of what had happened before with the Lee’s and the Cho’s. Many said it started ever since centuries ago, but Siwon didn’t know what it was exactly, no one but the involved families knew, actually. The most recent happening though, was six years ago, when another coincidence of a Lee and a Cho happened and cursed the same year in the academy.
Every three years, there is a battle that involves the entire school. Everyone must participate and the final round is rule-free. Six years ago, Hyukjae’s sister, Sora, and Kyuhyun’s older brother, Kangin, had participated and reached the final round. Both were strong, so strong that more than half the academy had to be reconstructed because of the damages they created.
Sora was left blind and Kangin was never seen again in the academy.
This time there was once again a Cho and a Lee cursing the same year and the battle would be in just a month from then. It lasted so long that sometimes participants couldn’t help but just give up to shorten the time of it. Even like that, the last battle lasted about a week long in which winners weren’t able to sleep at all, due to their extensive battles. As soon as they won a battle, another would start until they lose.
This was also a way to protect the academy. To the final round, only the strongest came and if they were already tired, there wouldn’t be too many damages.
But even like that, he highly doubted Kyuhyun and Hyukjae would stop.

“Who are you?” Kyuhyun asked, looking down at the small boy trembling in fear. “Did you not hear me?” he asked again. “Is it maybe,” he smirked and gave a small step forward. “That you want me to make you talk by the force?”
“N-No!” The small boy stuttered, shaking his head. “I-,” he gulped loudly. “I’m Taemin! Taemin!” he covered his face.
“What class are you in, Taemin?” Kyuhyun asked, chuckling.
They were alone. Kyuhyun had skipped the first day classes in order to rest a little from the tiring weeks before and while he was taking a nap in the audience room, a small boy came in to interrupt.
“B! I’m in class B!” He was scared. It was obvious he was one of the Lee allies by the way he looked at Kyuhyun so terrified. “Please don’t do anything to me! I’m just a bastard!”
Kyuhyun frowned. “A bastard?” He frowned deeper and pursed his lips, the room becoming darker by the minute.
“Y-Yes!” Taemin was at the verge of tears.
Kyuhyun looked away and breathed in and out deeply to calm down. “Go away and don’t bother me again,” he said. “Next time I catch you, believe me, you’ll be dead.”
It took only a second for the boy to run away, stopping abruptly when he found another person in the room, wearing a simple smile. “Look who’s here,” there was a low chuckle. “The bastard, and Cho.” It was Sungmin. “How luckier could I get?”
Kyuhyun turned around, frowning deeply as he looked at Taemin, back facing him, trembling even harder than before.
“I’m sorry for bothering you! I have to leave now!” Taemin said quickly, trying to run away as fast as he could.
“Oh, how much I wish I could let you go away, dear brother,” Sungmin
