“Jessica’s awake! She’s awake!”

 

Donghae couldn’t believe what he has been hearing! Although he knew that Jessica could make it but it is still unbelievable. He ran hurriedly to Jessica’s room…

 

“Jessica!”

But the body guards immediately stopped him from going in

“You’re not allowed to go inside!”

“Let me in! I’m her husband, I have the right to see her!” he insisted

“Sir, it is our job to stop you. We’re just following Mr. Jung’s orders”

“Please, please let me in” he begged as the tears started to roll from his eyes

“And besides, the atmosphere is very critical inside, you can’t just go in”

“Just once” he’s really crying hard

 

The other guard took a pity on Donghae…

 

“Sir, can we sit for a while? Maybe I can help you?”

 

Donghae explained everything to the middle aged man in front of him

 

“We had the same experience” the man spoke

“What do you mean?”

“Not really arranged marriage; but I was forced to marry my wife because of a ‘mistake’. Do you get what I mean?”

“Ne” Donghae nodded silently

“At first, of course, it was really hard to marry the girl you never loved. But it never changed me; I even asked myself ‘What if she’s really the one for me?’ or ‘Maybe there’s a reason for this’. There came a time that I felt this feeling…this strange feeling for her. It didn’t bug me or what at first, but as time pass by; I was slowly realizing that I was already falling for her. I tried to confront my feelings and now, we’re happily married with three kids” the guard smiled

“You’re very lucky. I’m so envious of you. I wish I have never done that to Jessica before. Uhm…can I ask a favor from you? Could you let me in when everyone leaves the room?” Donghae was already twisting his fingers

“But Ms. Jung’s condition-“

“Actually, it’s Mrs. Lee” he corrected

“I thought you were already divorced?”

“Nope, I’m not yet signing the papers. I don’t know if she’ll sign them. She’s still my wife as long as I’m not signing the papers”

“You do really love her, don’t you? I have been observing you these past few days. You’re not leaving the hospital…her side”

“Yeah…ugh…can you first answer my question?”

“Oh. Fine sir but please, don’t tell it to anyone. Mr. Jung will kill me”

“Ne, I know”

 

At Jessica’s Room

 

“Mom, Dad! Why am I here?” Jessica asked as she woke up

“Jessica!” her mom suddenly ran up to her

“You remembered us!”

 

-Jessica’s POV-

 

“Of course I remember you, I am your daughter! I have a sister named Krystal who is currently studying in the U.S who happens to be your daughter also”

I don’t understand them…why are their faces like that?

“I thought she had a brain injury?” her father asked the doctors

“Yes sir, but-“

“Why am I here?”

“Do you remember your relatives?”

“I have cousins whom I call, Amber, Luna, Sulli and Victoria. My boy cousins namely, Minho and Taemin”’

“Friends?”

“Hmmm…I have a close friend named Tiffany. I think she just visited me a while ago” I said while showing the note that Tiffany placed on the stoolafter visiting her

“School?”

“I studied in Korea Kent Foreign School before. I’m currently studying in Chung-ang University with Soo-young and Yuri”

“Do you remember anything about the car accident?”

“Car accident?”

Oh great, I don’t remember

“Lee Donghae, perhaps?” my mother asked very carefully

“Lee Donghae? Who is he?”

“Don’t you every dare speak the name of the devil!”

“Yeobo! She has the right to know!”

Ok, I’m getting confused now. Who is this Lee Donghae, seriously?

“AHHHHHHHHHH!” I let out my very famous dolphin scream “Just tell me; who is Lee Donghae, exactly?”

My mother explained to me everything. As I was listening to “our” story, I felt pain…anger…angst…every negative emotion is spinning around my head. I want to strangle that Donghae for doing this to me

“Why is this happening to her, doctor?” her mother asked

“It is because her injury is very traumatic. Maybe because of her past experiences such as heart break, etc. and that’s my hypothesis to the cause of her amnesia. We still have to observe her for two to three days and she may be discharged in the hospital’

 

-Donghae’s POV-

 

Why? Why did she forget me? I heard all their conversations and I was shocked by the fact that I am the only one she have forgotten. I know I have to take all this. I deserved to be punished...but there is no stopping me from getting her back again

 

I’m still glad that ahjusshi (the guard) allowed me to come inside when everyone leaves. It was the moment of truth. Everyone left the room and in a split second, I was already in Jessica’s suite (it looks much like a hotel for me). My heart was throbbing as if I was competing for a marathon, I don’t know what to do or what to say. As I went in, I saw Jessica reading her favorite book. She’s still beautiful even if she has bandages around her arms and a plaster on her head. She then looked at me…she threw her gorgeous icy glare on me. We were staring for 30 seconds and…

 

“Waeyo?” she asked me

Lee Donghae, calm down.

“Uh…hi...hehe” I smiled like a fool

“Who are you?”

Now I’m scared; If I say Lee Donghae…I’ll be dead…she’ll kill me for sure.

“I’m Lee Donghae”

With all my might and courage...I finally introduced myself…but her eyes, she’s crying. Her expression became darker. Something’s wrong…I knew it! Pabo! I should have never told her

“GET OUT!” Jessica was screaming hysterically

She threw her pillow to me at first, and then threw every object she can get as possible

“Sorry Jessica, let me explain!”

I attempted to get nearer but she was already holding a knife…she was trembling hardly.

“If you won’t get out here, I will kill you!”

She’s still violent just like before. I know her…she doesn’t mean it…but I don’t know if she still because of her current condition

“GET OUT WILL YOU! I’ll call the police!”

“Jessica, please let me explain”

 I said it calmly but my body is already starting to sweat. Suddenly, Jessica placed her hands on her chest…I can sense that she’s feeling uneasy

“Jessica! Are you all right?” I ran up to her immediately

“Leave me alone! I, I can’t breathe”

She’s holding onto me tighter. It feels like she’s ripping off my skin.

“Nurse! Nurse! Help me!” I called out

Good thing, the doctors and the nurses came running very fast.

“Sir, please leave the room. This is a very critical condition” the doctor told me

“Ne”

As I was about to go out, her parents came in

“Where is Jessica?!”

“Why are you here?! Didn’t I tell you to stop bothering our family?!!!” her father asked me while throwing his deathly glare on me. If looks can kill, I would have died instantly

“Dad, I’m just-“

“Don’t ever call me dad anymore! And you (to the guard), why did you let him in?”

“Sir, I’m just-“ the man was about to defend himself when I cut him

“I snuck secretly inside” Yeah, I lied

“STOP SEEING JESSICA FROM NOW ON. DID YOU UNDERSTAND THAT? OR ARE YOU AS DUMB AS YOUR FELLOW PLAYBOYS?”

His words struck on me like a dagger but I couldn’t just blame him…I couldn’t blame Jessica. Dad, I mean, Mr. Jung just left after throwing those words at me

“I’m so sorry ahjusshi” I felt really sorry for him. It’s my fault not his

“It’s all right” he smiled

“Take this money. It will help your family”

“No. I’m contented helping you”

“Just take this” I insisted

“Thank you sir! Thank you! You are very kind hearted”

“Thank you also. Good bye”

Before I left the hospital, the man told me one thing…

“Mr. Lee, never let go of Ms. Jessica”

“I won’t” I replied

 

-Author’s POV-

 

After two weeks, Jessica was finally discharged from the hospital. She can now eat and walk easily although the bandages on her body are not yet removed.

 

One day, Donghae visited Jessica in her parents’ house (she didn’t return to Donghae ever since, she moved in with her family)

 

“Didn’t I tell you to stop bothering us?!” Jessica’s father grabbed Donghae’s collar

“Yeobo, stop it”

“He was the reason why our daughter almost died. I can’t forgive him!”

“Sir, please give me a chance. I’ll do anything to make it up to your daughter and your family” Donghae was already crying

“Mom, Dad!” Jessica ran from the stairs

“Jessica, please be careful. Just return to your room” her father tried to hide Donghae from Jessica

“Jessica…” Donghae said softly

“Why are you here?”

“I’m sorry Jessica, I’m so sorry. Please forgive me, I’ll do everything for you to accept me again”

“Don’t believe him Sica, he’s lying”

“Now you are sorry? Are you sure? Tsk” Jessica just gave a smirk

Suddenly, Donghae kneeled down and begged for forgiveness

“Please sir, everything…I’ll do everything”

“Stop it!" Jessica cut them off

 

Fine…I’m going to live with him appa, omma”

 

Donghae’s face then brightened up but…

 

“He will be living with me for a month ONLY, then I will sign the divorce papers”

“You can’t do this Jessica” her parents said in unison

“Don’t worry mom and dad. I’m sure he’ll take care of me” she said sarcastically

“Are you sure about this?”

“Hundred percent sure” an evil smile was seen from her face

“Je- Jessica…thank you!” Donghae ran to Jessica and hugged her tightly

“YAH! Why are you hugging me?”

“I’m so happy”

“Get out of my sight” she pushed him coldly

 

-Donghae’s POV-

Even if she acts cold towards me, I am so happy that Jessica still accepted me. I promise to be the best husband for her and make her happy! I am going to make her fall in love with me…again. I will never let her sign those divorce papers once and for all.
