-Donghae’s POV-

I am Lee Donghae, 23 years old; married to Jessica Jung, my best friend. Yes, she is my best friend. Jessica and I have known each other ever since we were in middle school. We were really inseparable back then. But everything changed when I was forced to marry her two years ago. I didn’t know what happened to me or maybe because I am in love with another woman that time. Marrying the girl you didn’t love romantically is very hard; she’s just like my little sister. I treated Jessica like my own maid, she always do the chores while I go to the parties with my other friends. I treated her so badly as if she wasn’t my own best friend. For two years, she endured the pain of being with me yet my behavior towards her is still as awful as ever. Our parents didn’t know that we sleep in different rooms

-Flashback (No One’s POV)

“Why are you late again? It’s already 2 a.m.” Jessica glared at Donghae as he removed his shoes right behind the door

“Why do you care? I’m going to sleep”

“You’ve changed a lot, Donghae”

Donghae didn’t say anything

“Lee Donghae!”

“What? Stop nagging. I’m tired of working”

“Are you sure? Then what did I see a while ago?”

“Then what did you see a while ago?” Donghae giggled like crazy

“This isn’t a joke Donghae! Before you went inside the house a while ago, you’re with your ex,, you were kissing”

Jessica’s tears started to fall

“Ah that, what do you want me to do?”

“I can’t take this anymore. You aren’t the Donghae-“

But Donghae cut her off

“Oh yeah, I am not the Donghae you have met in your middle school 9 years ago, blah, blah, blah. I’m sick of you saying that! People change, Jessica! It isn’t my fault”

“I’m sicker than you. Let’s divorce. Our relationship isn’t working out. You may return to Ha-na (Donghae’s ex) after we divorce… I’m, I’m leaving, Donghae”

Jessica turned away and drove to her parent’s house

-Donghae’s POV-

I’m so stupid! I was so stupid for doing that to her. I decided to drink liquor to relax my nerves out. Accidentally, the wine glass fell and it shattered into pieces. I didn’t know but…I felt nervous…then my phone rang

“Hello? Why are you calling me in the middle of the night?”

It was Jessica’s cousin calling me…

“Hyung!”

He was crying…

“Why are you crying?”

My heart raced faster…

“Jessica noona…she’s…she’s…”

I didn’t know what happened next. All I know was that I rushed to the hospital’s emergency room immediately. I saw doctors rushing to my direction…I saw Jessica, lying on the stretcher unconsciously, her body was covered in blood and water since it was raining very hard that day

I was shocked after seeing Jessica in that condition…I felt like my body is being paralyzed

“Lee Donghae!”

I turned around to look for the voice calling me

“PAK!”

It was Jessica’s father; and he punched me on the face

“How dare you hurt my daughter’s feelings! You are a disgrace to our family! You don’t deserve to live! If something happens to my daughter, you will be the one to take all the blame! You’re a son of a *****!”

He kept punching me yet I remained immobile. I didn’t fight back or what because I understand how he feels right now…yeah…he was right…I didn’t deserve to live. I deserve to die. This is all my fault…because of me, Jessica got involved in a car accident.

My guilt is eating my right now for treating Jessica that way…

It was the time I realized that I cannot live without her…

I waited nervously in the hallway…waiting for any good news…or…I have to think positive. I saw Jessica’s parent’s talking to a doctor, her mom was seriously crying while her dad kept calm. I went nearer so that I can eavesdrop on what they are taking about.

“Will Jessica still live?” her crying mother asked

“Mrs. Jung, it depends, we’re not sure if-“

“What do you mean you’re not sure?!” her father protested

“Sir, we still have to observe Jessica. If she cannot wake up within this week…it’s impossible for her to live longer…I am so sorry, but we will try our best to revive her”

“I’ll pay you double…please…save my daughter’s life” his father is already crying

“What about her memory?” her mother asked

Her memory…what do you mean memory?! I started to freak out after hearing “her memory”…she can’t be having…

“She can regain her memory after a month or two of recovery; if she ever wakes up”

“Don’t lose hope yeobo, Jessica is a strong child. She is a sergeant, remember?” Jessica’s father did everything to keep her mother calm

“I know”

“I will be leaving now Mr. and Mrs. Jung”

It can’t be…Jessica has amnesia...

I am sorry Jessica… I am sorry for hurting you

When you wake up, I will let you know how I can be the best husband you have seen in this world…

It’s all right if you can’t accept me but I will try my best to help you and give the love you deserve…
