Dare to Dream

It took Jungkook a moment to wake up, rubbing at his eyes, he slowly blinked them open to look at the other.

"Taehyung..?" he mumbled sleepily before pushing himself to sit up beside the other, slowly registering that he wasn't in the hanbok anymore, and he definitely wasn't home if Taehyung was present. Looking over at the other again, he slowly started to recognize some of the scenery beyond the older boy.

"Roses...?" He found himself questioning softly, his hands pressing into what felt like grass beneath him. "Are we outside...?" He asked, brushing his hands off on his basketball shorts before rubbing at his exposed arms, the mist feeling cold against his skin. Taehyung could only shrug in response and rub his cheek as he looked around.

"No idea. I don't think we're back yet." Glancing back at the other, Taehyung couldn’t help a smile as spoke, "but your normal hair's back."

They were back to being them. But they were nowhere he could claim to recognize. Getting up, Taehyung looked around as the mist slowly began to clear. What time period were they in? Was this just a regular dream? Did Seung-yoon and Yejun have anything to do with it?

Taehyung was about to voice those very questions when they were answered for him. When the mist slowly cleared and two extremely familiar figures approached, Taehyung all but went slack jawed but quickly pulled himself together.

There they were- Seungyoon and Yejun, exactly as Jungkook and Taehyung had been before they drifted off to sleep. But with all the possible thoughts that could plague him at that moment, even Taehyung couldn't help but find ridiculous that his primary concern was if Seung-yoon would chew him out for so unceremoniously chopping off his hair.

It took Jungkook a moment to realize just who he was looking at as the two figures approached. Belatedly scrambling to his feet, he stared at Yejun and Seung-yoon as he observed their appearance.

The two seemed serious, but Jungkook was willing to swear he could sense a happy aura radiating from them. Somewhere amid his astonishment, Jungkook found himself muttering their names as he raked his fingers through his own hair, his tired mind slowly catching up with him.

“You’re…” Taehyung managed to mumble when the silence had gone too long for his liking, and he couldn’t hold back his curiosity, but he couldn’t figure out what else to say.

When Seung-yoon actually spoke (for some reason it didn't surprise Taehyung that Seung-yoon would be the one to speak up), it actually had nothing to do with his hair.

"Yes," Seung-yoon responded with a tone that erased any doubts about who he was. "Yes, I am Yi Seung-yoon. And this is Jeon Yejun."

Taehyung closed his parted lips and after simply staring for a moment for not knowing what to do next. This time it was Yejun's turn to speak up with a reserved smile, "We're here to thank you."

Jungkook was completely taken aback as he hears Yejun's last name. He assumed he should know that Yejun might be related to him, but the other's name still came as a surprise to him. Exchanging a glance with Taehyung, Jungkook found himself speaking up after Yejun had.

"Thank us..?" It was a simple question, but he was still a bit confused, as far as he was concerned, they hadn't truly done much other than attempt to end this cycle- especially because he couldn't stand to live through Yejun's death once more. In Jungkook's view at least, their actions were a bit more selfish than they were thank-worthy.

Taehyung's brows were knit as he tried to make sense of everything that was going on. A vague memory of a conversation between him and Jungkook seemed to wallow at the back of his mind, one about how it could possibly be Seungyoon and Yejun trying to end things differently through their dreams. Though it was a passing thought then, the possibility of it being the case seemed much higher now. Seung-yoon once again began to speak.

"Yes," Seungyoon spoke somberly, "we couldn't change our history. It is what we lived, and all we've known while we lived." Taehyung noticed idly that Yejun seemed to hold out his hand a little and Seung-yoon's slipped into it as his expression softened, and Yejun spoke up.

"We've waited for over 300 years for someone who could." There was relief in their expression, and happiness.

Though he still didn't completely understand it, Taehyung couldn't help a small smile at that, but his curiosities remained. "But why us? Why now?"

It was instinct that told him that he was in for an informational overload, and Jungkook was quick to shake his head as he made an attempt to focus. Hearing Taehyung's question, Jungkook nodded his head in agreement, "Surely there was an opportunity before now to have made such an attempt, right?" He proposed, biting his bottom lip as he saw Yejun give a slight shake of his head as an initial response, which is why it took him by surprise when Seungyoon spoke up again.

"Certain key factors had to align, and before now none of them had managed to meet like they did with the two of you." Seungyoon started the explanation before Yejun gently squeezed his hand and took over.

"There was also the matter of the changing times. What we had accepted- what we stand for- and what the times have allowed for just would not allow for anyone to help us. Most rejected it. But you two were different. There were other factors, yes. But one of the bigger ones was that you two wouldn't shut us out, you would accept us more willingly."

Understanding dawned on the expression of both boys. But Jungkook couldn't help but tilt his head. There was a look in their eyes that said that they saw something else in Taehyung and him that they weren't voicing yet.

Though it was a lot to take in altogether, the explanation certainly helped Taehyung begin to understand what the reasons they were the ones to have these dreams. But from what Seung-yoon had said, it seemed they may not have been the first ones.

Perhaps Seung-yoon and Yejun had haunted others with these dreams before, those of their blood line who somehow happened to be near each other- or was that necessary at all? Logic seemed to point towards that being a necessity as well. He wasn't sure.

Taehyung's gaze fell on Jungkook absently and wondered what the question in his eyes was about. When he returned his gaze to the two before him, he knew there was something there. It didn't take much to figure that the question in Jungkooks eyes had something to do with it but he couldn't be sure if there was something Jungkook had figured out that he still had not caught on to.

"So..." Taehyung spoke up, trying not to let his gaze wander across the garden beds that lay around them, "what now? What happens to you?"

Seung-yoon looked up from gazing down at his and Yejun’s linked hands and smiled, "we start where you left off." He stepped closer to Yejun, "and you are free."

Despite being released from such a series of dreams, hearing a confirmation that that hope was being realized surprised Jungkook.

"We don't have to live through that anymore? You two get to live like you wanted?" The questions slipped out before he had a chance to stop himself, but the smile he received from Yejun seemed to answer them without any actual words.

"Thank you again for helping us, Jungkook, Taehyung." Yejun started, looking back at Seung-yoon, Jungkook was still trying to figure out exactly what he saw in the other's eyes, not exactly ready to give up yet. "Jungkook, I hope you are as willing to be open to other things in your life as well now."

Glancing back over at Taehyung, Jungkook had a nagging feeling he knew what Yejun was hinting at, but he wasn't positive- not that he would be willing to admit that. A small part of him wondering just how much of him Yejun knows; was it as much as he knew of his counterpart? Something told him that maybe it had less to do with knowing Jungkook as it did with being able to read him.

The curiosity was clear in Taehyung's eyes as they snapped over to Jungkook momentarily after hearing Yejun's words. What had that meant? What was it that Jungkook had to be more open to? Was there a secret there that was beyond what he knew- something shared between Jungkook and the person whose eyes he saw through in a dream that took them several centuries back? At the back of his mind, he had an unshakable feeling that it had something not only to do with Jungkook but also about him, and yet it seemed a little arroga

Chapter 13: Just read this thing for the third time. XD It's still good. And awesome. (And there's still no sequel >-<). Not that I'm trying to rush you or anything - please, take all the time you need. Just know that I'll be waiting for it. Though I can live with it if you've decided to give up on the sequel, too. After all - it's your story and you guys have all the right to make that decision. All I as a reader can do, is respect your decisions. c:
