Chapter 17
MAMACITA: Secrets of San Mar ValleyWith things in San Mar reaching a boiling point, Kyuhyun realizes the clock is ticking and thinks of the perfect witness to find out where the chest is being hidden.
MAMACITA
Trust:
Sungmin could remember when it all happened. He heard the news from his father about the crazy vigilante who was killing their men. He didn't have to research to figure out who it was. He was the one who found the information about Cho Kyuhyun when he had killed JianJi. What choices did he have? He had to tell his father everything. If Lee Chun-Hwa found out he was hiding something, who knew what the consequences would be? His little brother, Sungjin, was never as obedient as he was, not even to save face. Their father hated Sungjin for that. The final straw was when Sungjin refused to fight Sungmin for the title of leader of the Triad. Sungjin was then beaten, disowned, and exiled from their home. Sungmin never saw him again. He had hoped Sungjin left the capital and found a nice place to start a new life, perhaps in a small town where he could meet a nice girl and act like he had never heard of Lee Chun-Hwa. It wasn't until Kyuhyun said what he said that he would finally know the truth. How could he have known what really happened? He was already gone, having been sent to kill Kyuhyun. He found out Kyuhyun made it far west into a small town called San Mar Valley. He wanted to be the one to go, he had to be. He convinced his father of that. In exchange, Lee Chun-Hwa gifted him the crown of their ancestors. It was kept as a symbol of who led the Triad. He was made to promise to keep it safe at all costs even though he hated even looking at it. He wanted to hide it away safely in his bank not only so it would be out of his sight, but also to ensure no one else could take the title for themselves. He didn't want it, but he had to take it and for only one reason. He knew if anyone else took the power he had, nothing but chaos would ensue. It was the only way to keep the peace so no one else would have to die.
"I promise, Father," He said, "I will protect it with my life."
"Good," Lee Chun-Hwa said, shaking his son's hand, "Now fulfill your mission. Find him and finish him."
"I will," Sungmin bowed to his father and left to catch the next train out to the west for San Mar Valley.
It was his father's idea to wear the disguise, despite the fact Kyuhyun had never seen him before so he wouldn't know what he looked like. When he entered the town, he couldn't help but feel like he could finally breathe. There was no harsh industrial work. It wasn't crowded. It wasn't loud. It was a quiet, open, and peaceful place. This was the kind of town he and Sungjin would talk about at night when they couldn't sleep. Since it was still a town in the making, he decided to contribute by making the bank. It took two months to finally meet Cho Kyuhyun face to face. He was honest about being from the capital, about his desperation to get away from it all. He was honest about knowing who Kyuhyun was. Kyuhyun was big news in the capital during his escapades. He was the biggest fugitive on the Wanted Posted for a brief time, but the Triad made sure to request Kyuhyun's blood be on their hands for justice and not the police. He was honest when he told Kyuhyun he had done the right thing by killing those men. What they had done was despicable. They came home and bragged about all of it. It made him sick, only he couldn't show it. He also couldn't help feeling like it was his fault. If he didn't give Kyuhyun's information, then maybe his family would still be alive. He spent his time making up for all of that. He sent a letter to his father that Cho Kyuhyun, the vigilante, was dead. He shot him in the head and tossed his body out in the middle of the desert to be picked at by the vultures. That would ensure no one would come here looking for him. He befriended Kyuhyun and followed him. He didn't want to be a leader, at least not one like his father. Even though Kyuhyun was a couple of years younger, he was still wise beyond his years. Lee Chun-Hwa believed he would make a fantastic leader. At least he was right about one thing.
He meant what he said when he told Kyuhyun he would always be there for him for whatever he needed. He became Kyuhyun's most loyal follower, his right-hand man. He believed in Kyuhyun even at his worst moments. He saw how good Kyuhyun truly was. He was a good man with a loving heart and that was his downfall. He cared so much for others, it made it hard to take the thought of losing them. He wanted to do anything to protect, it was in his nature. Was this his crime? Sungmin couldn't blame Kyuhyun for how he acted when he found out the truth. He knew Kyuhyun would discover it eventually. In a perfect world, he would've been the person to tell him everything. However, this wasn't a perfect world in the slightest. He took all of Kyuhyun's rage because he knew he deserved it. If Kyuhyun went through with shooting him, he wouldn't have blamed him for it. Even with his life imploding, he still had his loyalty to where it belonged and it sure as hell wasn't to his father.
Sungmin had gone back to his house to pack up some of his stuff. If he could, he would take the crown with him, but he couldn't since he had no idea where it was. Kyuhyun hated him now, so he didn't think there was a chance Kyuhyun would still want to help get it back.
"Hey," Sungmin heard Eunhyuk's voice behind him. He turned around and saw him standing there in the doorway, "How are you holding up?"
"Fine," Sungmin replied. He turned back to packing his bag.
"I finally got Kyuhyun to talk to me," Eunhyuk stepped in and sighed. "Is it true?"
"It doesn't matter now." Sungmin zipped up his bag.
"It does matter. So just tell me," said Eunhyuk, "Everything he told me, it's all true?"
"Yes, it's true!" Sungmin snapped. He regretted doing that. Eunhyuk was one of his best friends. He was the one who vouched for him to Kyuhyun. He didn't deserve to be yelled at. Kyuhyun was like that to him enough already. He relaxed his tone when he continued, "It was never like I wanted to do it. I never wanted to take over for my father or be sent far away to kill someone who I felt sympathy for. When he gave me the order, I knew that I wouldn't be able to do it."
"So you just thought that you would never tell him and it would all go away?"
"Hey, I did the best I could," said Sungmin, "If it wasn't me, someone else would've been sent here instead. Anyone else would've made sure he was dead. I came here to make sure he would be safe from my family. I mean it when I say that I was a real friend to him."
"Are you just going to leave now?" Eunhyuk felt sad. Sungmin has been his best friend since he first arrived there. They were both the newcomers in this town from faraway places. Before Kyuhyun was in the picture, they were all each other had. Eunhyuk had a lot to thank him for. What would he be if Sungmin was never here? What would he be if Sungmin left?
"If I don't leave now then Kyuhyun won't hesitate to kill me," Sungmin replied and slung his bag over his shoulder.
"I'll miss you," Eunhyuk said. He hugged Sungmin tightly which was returned, "Try to be safe. The capital is a crazy place."
"I know," Sungmin chuckled to lighten the mood. He released the hug and smiled, "And I hope you and Victoria make up. You guys are perfect for each other. She always cared so deeply for you."
Eunhyuk laughed, "I've been friends with you for over six years and you're telling me this now?"
"Sorry, I didn't know you were that clueless. Maybe Kyu was right about you," Sungmin smirked and patted his shoulder. Eunhyuk teared up and threw his arms back around Sungmin's shoulders. Sungmin hugged back to comfort him.
"I have to go," Sungmin said, "Maybe we'll meet again one day, my friend."
"Maybe we will," Eunhyuk replied, releasing the hug.
He then watched Sungmin walk to the doorway and disappear from his sight. This might only be a goodbye for now. Still, Eunhyuk couldn't help being afraid it would be forever.
"Goodbye, my friend."

Leenah walked with Heechul back to the saloon. She felt like she was always upset with him now because of the choices he was making. She couldn't believe he had the nerve to say what he said to Kyuhyun back in their home. How could Heechul walk around with zero regret for it?
"Kim Heechul, what did you think you were doing telling Kyuhyun all those things?" Leenah asked.
"Relax, Leenah. I've got it all under control." Heechul replied. He paid no mind to her worry.
"Under control? Kyuhyun said he was going to do something horrible and you just kept provoking him," said Leenah, "We don't know where he is now or what he has done because of what you told him. He was scary to look at when I saw how angry and hurt he was. Who knows what he plans on doing now."
"I don't know either, but it can only work in my favor."
"You did this for yourself?" Leenah gasped, "Because you say he wasn't loyal to you?"
"Exactly. Cho Kyuhyun and his friends are up to something. They're plotting against me, I know it." Heechul explained, "By me telling him the truth about his friend Sungmin and him going crazy, it will rip him and his friends apart. They'll have more to worry about than pointing the finger at me. That removes the threat. So it's payback for him lying to me and assistance to help me win this all in one. Two birds, one stone."
"But what if you're wrong? What if he isn't plotting against you?" Leenah asked, "If he kills Sungmin, that's on you. It wasn't your place to tell him."
"Who are you to tell me what my place is?" Heechul stopped and snapped at her. "It wasn't like Sungmin was ever planning on telling him! If he really wasn't plotting against me then I did him a favor!"
Leenah looked up at him with sad eyes, "You've never yelled at me like this before."
Heechul noticed right away and looked away from her to take a deep breath in and out to calm down. He didn't want to take his frustrations out on her. He didn't want to hurt her in any way. She was the only person in this world he cared anything for. He never thought he was capable of loving someone. Maybe it was something in his wiring or how he was raised. Maybe it was because of all the things he's done. Robbing, killing...It was only because he met her that he decided to leave all of it behind. He came close and her cheeks with his thumbs softly.
"I'm sorry," Heechul sighed. He rested his forehead against hers, "I'm never upset with you, you understand? It's not you. It's the stress of what's going on. It's eating me alive. All I want is what's best for you. For us."
He knelt and hugged her waist, now resting his head on her stomach.
"I don't want to bring this stress on you, too," He said and then felt her fingers slowly running through his dark hair, "I'm doing everything I can and it's never enough."
"Heechul," Leenah continued his hair since she knew it helped comfort him, "You've done so much. It's more than enough."
"No, it's not." He looked up at her. She saw a tear in his eye, "Leeteuk is still here and he's not supposed to be. We came here to get away from him and here he is messing it all up. I haven't gotten the crown yet either because of him, and I'm constantly making you resent me. I'm more desperate than I ever was because you're having our baby."
"I can never resent you. You know why?" Leenah knelt so she was at eye level with him. "Because I love you. We both swore that we would do anything for each other. It's only now that you're showing how far you're willing to take your word."
"So you understand my intentions now, right?" Heechul gulped, trying not to cry. "You understand that my intentions for all of this are good? That it's for you?"
"I understand." She wiped one of his small tears with her thumb. He responded by kissing her palm over and over. "You have the best intentions."
"Thank you for understanding how much I love you." He leaned in and kissed her, and she immediately kissed him back. "Come, let's get back to the saloon now."
They stood up and entered their saloon holding hands. They were going to act like nothing happened. It was only a matter of time until Leeteuk would get the crown back into his hands. The clock was ticking. Today was the day everything was going to come to an end.
He could feel it.

Eunhyuk left Sungmin's home and slowly strolled around the town, thinking about Sungmin and how much he was going to miss him. He also thought of Victoria. He figured since Sungmin was leaving and just about everything else was falling apart, it was time to try telling her what was going on. She deserved to know.
"Eunhyuk?" He heard his name being called. He lifted his head and saw the girl he was looking for.
"A Dios mio, I've never been so happy to see you." Eunhyuk smiled which made her blush a little.
"Thanks, I guess." Victoria felt a little awkward seeing him. The last time she saw him wasn't the best interaction. There was awkwardness, confessions, goodbyes. Seeing him again only made things feel even more awkward, "Are you okay?"
"Honestly? No," Eunhyuk sighed, "Sungmin's leaving."
"Oh." Victoria sighed. She knew that he and Sungmin were good friends, so she couldn't help but be sad at the news. "And, he's not coming back?"
"Yeah," Eunhyuk replied, "He's going back to the capital. For good."
"Why? What happened?"
"Him and Kyuhyun. They had a really bad fight." Eunhyuk thought about how he should explain it to her. "It's a long story."
"Wait. Are you actually letting me in right now?" She asked. She couldn't believe he was going to give her answers to questions she's had for a long time. "I'm all ears. Tell me what happened."
Eunhyuk took a deep breath. Well, here goes nothing...
"Well to put it lightly-"
"He's going to tell you how he got beat up and shot in the face by me!" Eunhyuk turned around and saw Leeteuk there with a drunken grin on his face. "You think you can just screw around with my girl and get away with it?"
"What are you talking about?" Eunhyuk made sure he stood in front of Victoria so she wasn't in harm's way.
"I'm talking about Missy!" Leeteuk shouted. The whiskey bottle he had gotten from Heechul's house was empty now. He tossed it behind him, the glass shattering upon impact, "She told me how you were with her and broke her heart by just leaving her for some redhead! I see the redhead is behind you."
"Your anger is with me." Eunhyuk blocked Victoria off, "Leave her out of this."
"Tell me where the Sheriff is and maybe I'll spare her," Leeteuk smirked.
"I don't know where he is!" Eunhyuk replied.
"Fine. If you can't tell me where he is then I guess I'm still killing you. I've been itching for a good one since I got here," Leeteuk grinned.
Leeteuk then pulled out his gun and shot it at them. Eunhyuk quickly dove to the ground with Victoria beneath him. Eunhyuk wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled them both over to take cover behind a building.
"Are you okay?" He asked her as he helped her stand up.
"I'm fine," Victoria replied.
Eunhyuk kissed her forehead and then ran back into the gunfire. He dodged the bullets as he ran for him. Leeteuk dropped his gun since it was no use firing it anymore and decided to try killing him with his bare hands. Eunhyuk tackled Leeteuk to the ground and began
