Calming Down
Behind the Mask [Bangtan]Jungkook stood in awe as Zhen made her way back towards the group with her hands balled at her sides. She may have looked still angry, and ready to kill someone to everyone else, but Jungkook could see the worry in her eyes, and her trembling lips.
“You guys go on ahead and find somewhere to eat,” He said, turning towards Suga, Rap Monster, Jin and J-Hope. V had moved to help Jimin collect the contents of Mallory’s spilled purse, Mallory was on the phone calling her lawyer and chasing the coins that had fallen out of her purse across the sidewalk, and the others were all in shock. Everything happened too fast for anyone to really move. Zhen had handled everything before even Jungkook could grab her hand and hold her back. “I think I’m going to take Jin Ae home.”
Rap Monster nodded. “I think that’d be best. We’ll meet you at the dorm.”
“Call if anything happens. And do not tell Cho Hee this happened,” Suga started.
Jin nodded. “She would kill us if she found out we let Jin Ae do that. And she’d probably never let us see her again.”
Jungkook nodded and turned, striding towards Zhen. He reached for her, but she moved back, holding her arms against her chest, and shook her head. “I’m fine!” She snapped.
He frowned, his eyebrows pulling together. “Zhen Ai,” He murmured, reaching for her again and, this time, holding onto her shoulders. “You most certainly are not.” He wrapped one arm around her and tugged her with him as he strode away from the scene. “What street do you live on?”
Mallory hung up her phone and knelt, grabbing the golden tube of now mashed and melted lipstick. She frowned, lifting the mashed red rouge into her hands. The engraving on the side of the tube was now scratched and deformed, crushed and cracked in some places.
“Mallory,” Suga’s firm voice didn’t startle her. She could feel his stare on her back, and was sure he was standing only a few inches away from her. “It’s mashed, there’s no point trying to save it.”
Mallory stood and sighed, walking towards the cafe and grabbing one of the cloth napkins from off the table. She wiped her hand on it and threw it to the side. “That was a gift,” She said tiredly. “Anyways, I need to get back to my apartment,” She said, moving towards Jimin and V, who were holding handfuls of her purses innards. “Thank you.” She said, taking her belongings and shoving them into her skid mark torn leather purse. “And there goes my Kors bag.” She said with another sigh.
Suga looked to Jimin and V. “Are you two still hungry?” Jimin shrugged and V nodded.
“I’ve got some things back at the apartment that I can make.” Mallory said lightly. “Why don’t you all come back with me?”
Jungkook came to a stop outside of the Shin household and pulled Zhen to his chest. She was stiff, and made no noise as she laid her head against his chest, fitting perfectly against him. “Call me later, alright?” He asked, kissing the top of her head and pulling away.
Zhen nodded and he offered a small, almost apologetic smile as he turned and started away, but Zhen’s hand caught his. He turned, one hand in his pocket, the other in hers, and looked down. Her fingers had wound with his and he noticed the blood on her gloves. It must have been from when she punched one of the brutes’ nose. “Stay with me,” She murmured, not looking at him, but at his feet. She then looked up at him, her eyes wide. “Please.”
Jungkook bit the inside of his cheek. “Cho Hee would flip out-”
“I don’t think you give her enough credit,” Zhen said quietly, pulling him behind her towards the gate. She pulled a key from her pocket and unlocked the gate. “Go on in, I have to lock this behind us,” She said, moving behind the gate. Jungkook walked through and she swung the gate closed, flipping the lock and then following him towards the house.
When she unlocked the doors, Jungkook was in awe. The space for the shoes was enormous, and held racks of shoes and slippers. Zhen moved in before him, grabbing a pair of blue slippers with white furry insides. “Cho Hee stocks up for visitors.” She said, setting them down in front of his feet and then kicking off her own shoes. She replaced them with black and white slippers. The two of the slippers were the head of a panda, and the sole of the slipper was black and white stripes. She smirked a little. “Cho Hee got a matching set for me, her and Mallory, since she stops by so often.” She pointed to a pair with a brown teddy bear on the toe and brown and white stripes. “Those are Mallory’s,” And then she pointed to a pair of pink slippers with a white sheep head on the toe. “And those are Cho Hee’s.”
Jungkook smiled and slid off his shoes, placing them neatly beside the door. “They’re cute.” He said, helping her to stand after she slipped on her slippers. “Cho Hee isn’t home?”
Zhen shook her head. “And neither is Dae Hyun. He’s on call all night and Cho Hee is working until late.” She pulled her phone from her pocket. “I’m just going to tell her I’m home.”
Jungkook nodded and looked past her shoulder into the house. His jaw almost dropped. Everything was extremely modernized, minimal, but with an old fashion feel. When compared to Mallory’s white on white apartment, the space was a world of color, with every room being a beautiful different color. Everything in the house was modeled after an antique, with a modern twist, like the color, or the size of the object. The living room had two armchairs and a massively long sofa. The sofa was white oxford with black buttons and black throw pillows. Both arm chairs had very tall backs, were made of white cloth, but had scrolled arms. There was dark finished wooden coffee table, and matching end tables on either side of the couch. Across from this set up was a large flat screen. And that wasn’t the end of the beautiful space. The living room had the same sort of layout, but it was golden and white, and was far enough away from the living room to keep from clashing. The kitchen was dark wood and cream white, all modern and breath taking.
Zhen slid her phone back into her pocket and started into the house. “Are you hungry?” She asked, moving towards the kitchen.
