An Old Friend“Chunji”
Niel’s singular word repeated itself over and over in CAP’s head. His face stayed emotionless as he processed the information.
As the time of silence grew between the two men Niel became more and more worried.
“CAP?” He asked softly. After he heard no answer he hesitantly took Minsoo’s hand gently. “Minsoo?” Niel leaned closer to inspect CAP’s glazed over eyes.
“Chunji?” Minsoo spat out, suddenly making Niel jump, let go of the other’s hand and lean away. “Are you being serious? Chunji? As in Chunji, your best friend? Chunji, the person you live with? Chunji, the person you see more than anyone else in your life?” His voice rose gradually.
“Minsoo, please calm down, people are staring.” Niel said in a hushed voice sending uncomfortable gazes over his shoulders.
“I don’t care if these damn people are staring.” Minsoo’s voice was turning hysterical as he gestured at an old lady walking past with one arm and a young family with the other. “Are you seriously telling me that your best friend and roommate has stolen you away from me? I should have known all along, You guys were way to close to just be friends.”
Niel placed a long- hand on CAP’s arm. “Come on, Minsoo let’s go somewhere quieter to talk.”
CAP placed his larger hand over Niel’s slim one on his arm. The touch caused Niel’s attention to be drawn away from searching for a place to get away from the drama to CAP’s eyes. He hadn’t registered that they had been getting closer until he felt Minsoo’s strong arms wrap around him and the elder’s breath brushing his hair.
“I’m not going to let him take you away from me, Niel. I love you and I know you love me too. I know by the way you won’t look me in the eye. I can only take that as guilt right? So you must still care.” They leaned back slightly and one of CAP’s hands came up from Niel’s small waist to push a section of honey-blonde hair out of his cat-like eyes. The younger boy raised his glossy eyes to CAP’s beady ones and the two stayed like that for what felt like hours.
CAP leaned forward and gently bumped his forehead to Niel’s still extending the silence between them. They were both breathing softly and they never broke eye contact in the intimate moment.
“Does he know?” CAP asked softly, breaking the alluring silence.
Niel instantly lowered his eyes.
“That answers my question.” CAP’s voice nor expression had changed at the information as if he already knew. “Have you… Have you two done anything?” he asked rather hesitantly.
Niel nodded lightly against the pressure of CAP’s head. “We kissed,
