“Idle hands are the devil’s play things,” Taekwoon’s mother called out as she watched her son walk past the kitchen.
“I’m going to be doing something,” Taekwoon said, trying to defend himself, “I’m catching up on my reading.”
“Oh,” his mother blinked, “I thought you were planning to laze about. I was going to suggest going out with Sanghyuk.”
“He’s going out?” Taekwoon found himself asking, even as he told himself that he didn’t care.
“Yeah,” she nodded, returning her attention to whatever it was that she was cooking, “he said something about Wonsik. Maybe they’re on a date.” She giggled, completely unaware of the frown on her son’s face at such news.
“I’m going to go join them,” Taekwoon announced, feeling more than a little foolish for saying something like that. He didn’t care what Sanghyuk did. At least, that’s what he was still trying to tell himself even though a voice in the back of his mind was whispering that he was lying, that he really did care about Sanghyuk.
Taekwoon found Wonsik and Sanghyuk on the training field, laughing as they lay on the ground covered in sweat and dirt. Taekwoon felt a flash of irritation before making his way over to them.
“Oh!” Wonsik quickly stood up when he noticed Taekwoon, bowing slightly, “Hey, Taekwoon.”
“What are you doing here?” Sanghyuk questioned, glaring slightly at Taekwoon and not bothering to get up like Wonsik.
“Mother said you were here,” Taekwoon lied, “I thought I should come see how you’re doing.”
“Whatever,” Sanghyuk sighed, getting up, “hey, hyung? I’m gonna head off. Maybe Bin is doing something interesting.”
“Have fun,” Wonsik smiled, “I’ll come find you guys after I shower.”
Sanghyuk waved as he walked away. Leaving Taekwoon and Wonsik alone on the field. Taekwoon watched the younger walk away, feeling a bit like an abandoned puppy. He wanted to be around Sanghyuk, more than he was willing to admit to even himself. And yet Sanghyuk didn’t want anything to do with him. That stung, even if it was his own fault.
“Sanghyuk doesn’t really hate you,” Wonsik spoke up, “not really.”
“What are you talking about?” Taekwoon growled, glaring at Wonsik so hard the younger backed away slightly before recovering his nerve.
“Sanghyuk likes to think he hates you,” Wonsik explained, “but it’s mostly just talk. I mean, it’s not like he likes you or wants to be friends, but he doesn’t completely hate you. Just strongly dislikes.”
“Why should that matter?” Taekwoon questioned, tone softening slightly after hearing that Sanghyuk might not hate hm.
“You look at him like a love struck puppy,” Wonsik rolled his eyes, “well, you do when you let your guard down and that mostly happens when Sanghyuk walks away or glares at you. Or when he throws small insults your way. Stuff like that.”
“I do not look at him like a love struck puppy!” Taekwoon snapped, but a part of him wasn’t that disbelieving of Wonsan’s words.
“Sure,” the younger werewolf rolled his eyes, “sure you don’t. You hate him.”
“I don’t hate him,” Taekwoon hissed, glaring at Wonsik, “I would never hate him.”
“Good to hear,” Wonsik smiled, “anyway, I wasn’t lying about needing a shower. See you around, Taekwoon hyung.”
Standing alone in the training field, Taekwoon contemplated going over to Hongbin and Hakyeon’s house. He wanted to see Sanghyuk and knew that the younger would be there. Although Sanghyuk probably wouldn’t be too pleased to see him. Even if Wonsik said the younger didn’t hate him, that didn’t mean Sanghyuk liked him or wanted to spend much time with him.
Taekwoon ended up back at home, lying on his bed doing nothing.
A/N: well, at least Leo is warming up to the idea liking Hyukkie, right? And Hyuk doesn’t completely hate him and that’s something, right?
