Anna reluctantly got out of bed when she heard the knock at the door. “I’m coming hold on!”

She opened the door and faced L.Joe “If you’re looking for Minah she isn’t here”

L.Joe’s face went from super happy to suddenly sad. “Where is she?”

“She has a match today at another school.” Anna glared at L.Joe “Are you just going to stand there or are you going to leave”

L.Joe snapped out of his gaze “Oh sorry, I’ll leave”

“Thank god” Anna shut the door in his face.

A day without Minah, how was this going to go?

L.Joe walked to class alone and then sat through history class alone and then walked to lunch...alone.

“Hey L.Joe, where’s Minah?” Changjo asked.

L.Joe took a deep breath and didn’t respond.

“Wow you seem depressed” Changjo held up his juice “Do you want some juice?”

L.Joe shook his head. Today just didn’t feel the same.

Ricky sat down by L.Joe. “Hey are you okay? You look glum”

“I’m fine okay; you guys can stop worrying about me”

Niel sat down “what’s wrong with L.Joe?”

“He’s just depressed because Minah isn’t here” Changjo said.

“I am not depressed!” L.Joe got up and left.

“Hey guys” Ricky asked “Do you think L.Joe likes Minah?”

“That would explain why they're always together” Changjo replied.

“Do you think we should do something about it?” Ricky asked.

“Nah, let things play out”

Ricky smirked “Sure”

“Alright, ladies that was a great win today, but don’t let it get to your heads” Coach yelled from the front of the bus.  “We’ll arrive back to school in ten minutes”

“Do you think I should’ve told L.Joe that I had a match today?” Minah asked.

“Nah, he’ll be fine” Sue playing with the strings on her racket. “I think I need to get my racket re-stringed”

Minah looked out the window “I can see the school from here” 

L.Joe was bouncing a ball on the floor. I wonder when Minah will get back

He stopped bouncing the ball and looked at it. There I go again, why do I insistently keep thinking about her. He took the ball and tossed it across the room.

Minah walked into her dorm “I’m Home!!”

Anna had headphones in so Minah walked into her sight and waved. Anna gave her an irritated wave back.

Minah showered and got into bed. She turned over and saw the teddy bear L.Joe gave her. She slept with it every night since he gave it to her.  I wonder what L.Joe is up to

The next day L.Joe went to Minah’s dorm. Should I knock? What if she isn’t back yet.

Suddenly the door swung open. Minah appeared in the door way “L.Joe!” She gave him a hug “Did you miss me?”

L.Joe replied “Yes, I mean no, you were only gone for a day”

Minah shut the door of her room. “Ready?”

How can she be so vibrant in the morning?

Doesn’t he miss me?

“So what did I miss in history?”

“Not much, Mr. Robert’s toupee fell off”

“Again!” She laughed.

She’s cute when she laughs.

“What about you, what did I miss? Did you win?”

“Sure did, they didn’t stand a chance”

“I knew you would, you’re an outstanding tennis player”

He really believes in me.

“So I have a math test tomorrow do you think you could tutor me today?” Minah asked.

“Sure”

During history Minah couldn’t help but stare at L.Joe, it was like the first day all over again.

“So get into pairs and complete the assignment” Mr. Roberts commanded.

“Minah, do you want to be my partner?” L.joe asked. “Is there something on my face?”

“Huh, what?” Minah was still in a daze.

“We have an assignment Minah. Are you okay?” L.Joe felt her forehead and cheeks. “You feel fine”

He’s so close to my face. Has that freckle always been there?

Her face is really soft.

“Yeah I’m fine, history is just really boring”

“Let’s finish the assignment okay”

“So how was the game?” Niel asked.

“It’s a match not a game and we won, isn’t that right Minah?” Sue replied.

“Yeah easy as pie”

“I don’t like that expression. Pie is not easy to make.” Chunji said.

“How about easy as ramen” L.Joe said.

“You’re in a better mood today” cap sat in front of him.

He was in a bad mood?

Don’t you dare tell Minah

“Why was L.Joe in a bad mood?” Minah asked.

“You’ll have to ask him” he replied.

Minah looked at L.Joe. “It was nothing” he assured her.

“You two always comfort each other when you feel bad. I wish I had a boyfriend to do that for me” Sue said. “Oh I’m not saying your dating I’m just saying that I want a boyfriend.” She looked right at Niel when she said this.

The two of them blushed.

A couple? Us?

If only she didn’t have a boyfriend.

After school and practice Minah meet L.joe in the library for tutoring. “See it isn’t so hard” L.Joe checked her answers “You got most of them right”

She's pretty and smart.

Minah smiled “It’s because you helped me” she reached over and held his hand.

L.Joe pulled his hand away. “Try this one”

Ahh why did I do that?

“Okay”

“Do you want me to walk you back to your room?” L.Joe offered.

“Sure if it’s not too much trouble” Minah replied.

“So do you and Sue have the outfits ready for the talent show?”

“Almost, why?”

“I wanna look cool when I’m on stage”

Minah laughed “You always look cool”

Oops

“You really think so?”

“Don’t let it get to your head” Minah teased. 

They both stopped when they arrived at her door. “Goodnight Minah”

“Goodnight” She wanted to walk inside but her feet wouldn’t move. L.Joe’s eyes had her frozen.

“See you tomorrow” L.Joe moved closer to Minah.

“See ya” She couldn’t help but lean forward. Her eyes began to close, she was going for it.

I can’t kiss her, I mean I want to but she has a boyfriend. It wouldn’t be right.

How come nothing’s happening? Isn't he suppose to kiss back or something?

“Goodbye” L.Joe rushed off.

Minah opened her eyes.

I can’t believe him!

She walked into her dorm and climbed up to her bed.

It took so much courage to try to kiss him and he didn’t even want to! I thought he liked me!

She threw L.Joe’s teddy bear off her bed.

Well I don’t like you either L.Joe!
