Perfectly Imperfect - indefinite hiatus

Kyungsoo was in the shower when there was the sound of the bathroom door opening and closing. Even though the shower door was fogged up from the steamy water, he could tell it was Jongin. For one thing, he knew his boyfriend like the back of his hand. For another thing, Jongin was the only person who would ever walk in on him in the shower.

Sure enough, the door opened and there stood Jongin, wearing his best -eating grin and nothing else.

“This shower is tiny,” Kyungsoo pointed out, eyeing his boyfriend’s semi-hard despite himself. “Don’t you remember the last time we tried shower in here? I thought we would never get out again, and you hit your head on the shower head and had a knot there for weeks afterwards.”

“I didn’t say we had to have ,” Jongin said, pretending to be offended as he stepped in under the spray. “I just thought it would be nice to take a shower together.”

Kyungsoo squeezed against the far wall to make room for his boyfriend; the shower really was too small for the both of them. “You’re doing this because you don’t want me to go out tonight without you, right?”

Jongin’s lips were ghosting over his neck by this point, making coherent thought almost impossible. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.

“You always get overly affectionate when I’m going to go out and you’re not,” Kyungsoo pointed out, allowing his hands to trail familiar paths down Jongin’s front.

The younger sighed, resting his head against the cool tile of the shower. “It’s just that you’ll be gone overnight. It’s not that I don’t trust you. It’s that I’m a dependent boyfriend and I don’t know what I’m going to do without you for a night.”

Kyungsoo’s heart swelled, the way it always did when Jongin said things like that. “I’ll be back tomorrow. You’ll hardly notice I’m gone.”

“Liar,” Jongin said sullenly. “I always know when you’re gone. It’s like I’m missing a limb or something.”

Kyungsoo pulled him in for a kiss. “You’re such a drama queen,” he said, but he couldn’t deny that he enjoyed it sometimes. He nipped playfully at Jongin’s lower lip. “If it’ll make you feel better, I’ll let you me into the wall.”

Jongin pretended to think about it. “You know, I do think I would feel better.”

The shower was so small that there wasn’t a lot of room to move around in. They ended up with Kyungsoo’s back pinned against one of the walls, his feet against the other to keep his balance. Jongin situated himself between his boyfriend’s spread legs, using his body to keep Kyungsoo from falling, slipping in with ease since Kyungsoo was still loose from their session the night before.

Kyungsoo let his head fall back against the slick tiles, the warm water cascading down his chest and shoulders. His eyes fluttered closed as Jongin worked him expertly, bringing him to the brink of insanity all too quickly and then pulling away before Kyungsoo can come. He growled low in his throat, but Jongin only smirked at him.

“I’m not done with you yet,” he said in a low, husky voice.

The water was cold and Kyungsoo’s neck and collarbones and chest were covered in violent purplish love bites by the time Jongin finally allowed him to come. His whole body shook as he rode out his , his head thunking back against the wall so hard he saw stars. Jongin came with him – they had perfected this dance by now – and he was suddenly so shaky that the two of them collapsed in a heap on the floor of the shower.

Kyungsoo tried to push his boyfriend off, but the shower was just too small and he only succeeded in ramming Jongin’s shoulder into the glass door, which swung open and spilled water onto the bathroom floor.

“You’re getting the bathroom all wet!” Kyungsoo whined, still too spent to get to his feet.

Jongin didn’t move either. “You’re the one who pushed me,” he accused with a laugh.

Eventually they did move. Jongin stumbled out of the shower and Kyungsoo had to wash again. By the time he finally got out of the shower, he was running very late.

His cell phone began to ring as he was shimmying into a pair of tight pants. “Can you get that, baby?” he called from the bedroom.

He could hear Jongin’s muffled voice answering the phone in the living room. “It’s Junmyeon!” he called back to his boyfriend. “He says you’re late!”

“Well whose fault is that?” Kyungsoo demanded dryly, pulling on a shirt and doing up the buttons. “Tell him I’ll meet him at the bus station, okay? And that I’m sorry I’m late!”

More muffled words from Jongin, and then he came back to the bedroom, wearing nothing but sweatpants slung low on his hips. “I got it covered,” he grinned. “I told him you weren’t going.”

“Ha ha,” Kyungsoo rolled his eyes. He sat down on the edge of the bed to jam his feet into some socks. “I don’t know why I let you talk me into having when I’m supposed to be getting ready to go somewhere.”

“Because you love ?” Jongin suggested, waggling his eyebrows.

Kyungsoo couldn’t help but laugh. “I thought it was you who was the addict,” he pointed out.

“No way. It’s you now.”

Kyungsoo couldn’t really argue with that. He was definitely no longer the innocent and naïve boy who had first gone to Seonbi over a year ago.

“I’ve got to go now,” he said, getting to his feet and slinging his overnight bag over his shoulder. He paused in the entryway to slip on his shoes, then he stood on his tiptoes to press a long, lingering kiss to Jongin’s succulent lips. “I’ll call you when I get there.”

“And you’d better text me every minute so I know you’re alive,” Jongin said. “You know those bus drivers are crazy.”

Kyungsoo laughed. “Fine, fine. I’ll use up all my text messages for this month texting you on the bus ride over. I won’t be able to text you at all on the way back though.”

Jongin ruffled his hair. “Yeah, yeah. Just have fun, okay? And don’t get too drunk when I’m not there to take care of you.”

“I know, I know.” Kyungsoo kissed the younger one more time. “I love you. I’ll see you tomorrow. Have fun at work tonight.”

Jongin was still muttering about how he couldn’t have fun without Kyungsoo when the elder left, shutting the door behind him.

Everyone else had already gathered at the bus station when Kyungsoo arrived, his overnight bag over his shoulder, huffing and puffing from the run. Junmyeon, Kibum, Jonghyun, Jinki, and Luhan were lounging on a bench, laughing and joking, passing a package of crisps around to share.

“Took you long enough!” Jonghyun teased, throwing an arm around Kyungsoo’s shoulder. “We nearly missed our bus!”

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry!” Kyungsoo cried as they scrambled onto the appropriate bus and found seats together near the back, settling in for the ride. “Jongin…you know…distracted me.”

“That doesn’t surprise me much,” Luhan said with a laugh, plopping down next to Jinki and shoving his bag under the seat in front of him.

Kyungsoo chuckled. “I didn’t even know you were coming, hyung. I didn’t think you and Taemin were that close.”

“Eh, we’re not,” Luhan admitted with a little blush. “But I wanted to surprise Sehun so Jinki offered to let me tag along. Thanks again, buddy.”

Jinki was all smiles, as usual. “No problem. The more the merrier, right?”

The bus ride was only a few hours long, and the six of them spent it laughing and joking with one another. Kyungsoo had been so busy lately with school and his part-time job and Jongin that he hadn’t gotten to hang out with his friends much, so he really appreciated this time even if Jongin had had to work and hadn’t been able to tag along. It seemed like next to no time before the bus was pulling into an incredibly familiar station.

Kyungsoo hadn’t been to this familiar little town since graduation back in February, and it was sort of surreal to be back when he was no longer a student. It was even weirder when they caught the bus to Seonbi’s campus. Even though it had been five months since he’d last been there, nothing had changed.

Because none of them were students anymore, they had to sign in at the office. Then they made their familiar way to the boys’ dormitory, where they were meeting up with Taemin.

They found Jinki’s younger brother in his room as arranged, along with his boyfriend, Minho, and his roommate, who an incredibly tall second year introduced as Choi Junhong. There were many hugs exchanged, and Kibum grilled Taemin about if he was studying hard and eating well. After Taemin had assured everyone that he was doing fine, Kibum seemed to relax a bit.

Luhan excused himself to go surprise his own boyfriend, who hadn’t any idea that Luhan was coming that weekend, and the others got on the topic of significant others while they were waiting for him to return.

“So are you dating anyone, Junhong?” Junmyeon asked politely, sitting cross-legged on the floor beside Kyungsoo.

Taemin’s roommate, Junhong, blushed crimson. “N-no, I’m not dating anyone,” he said quickly. “I’m too young to date.”

Everyone erupted in laughter at that. Even while he laughed, Kyungsoo couldn’t help but think that he thought the exact same thing when he was Junhong’s age. It was amazing to think how just a year had changed him so drastically. It also made him miss his boyfriend. He pulled his phone from his pocket and started a text message.

“Texting Jongin?” Jonghyun teased, one arm wrapped comfortably around Kibum’s waist. “Pathetic. You’ve only been apart for a few hours now.”

“Easy for you to say,” Kyungsoo shot back, finishing his text – and including quite a lot of hearts. “Your boyfriend came with you.”

Jonghyun just shrugged and kissed Kibum on the cheek.

“You too?” Jinki demanded, nudging Junmyeon with his foot. Junmyeon, who was trying to hide his own phone in the folds of his jacket, blushed crimson.

“It’s different for me,” Junmyeon said defensively. “Jungsoo has been really busy lately and I haven’t gotten to see him much.” He gave Kyungsoo an apologetic look. “Sorry, not to say that Kyungsoo doesn’t have a reason to text his boyfriend too. I just…I’m going to stop talking now.”

And they all laughed.

Luhan returned then, bringing a blushing and clearly excited Sehun with him. “Hi,” he waved to everybody. “Happy birthday, Taemin.”

Taemin beamed. “Thanks!”

Now that everyone had gathered, the ten of them set out. Minho, who knew Taemin better than anyone, had the day planned perfectly.

First they went to see a new romantic comedy that Taemin had been dying to see. It was good, but Kyungsoo couldn’t help but think of how he and Jongin had once sat in this very theater and Jongin had given him his very first . He blushed at the mere thought. After the movie, they went out to eat at Taemin’s favorite restaurant, and then they all went dancing. Kyungsoo didn’t particularly like dancing if it wasn’t with Jongin, so he found himself hanging out on the edge of the crowd most of the night.

“This isn’t really our scene, is it?” Junmyeon chuckled, sidling up him.

Kyungsoo couldn’t help but laugh. “I think we stand out like sore thumbs. Why do they all have to be such good dancers?” He nodded at where their friends were dancing in a group on the edge of the dance floor.

Junmyeon sighed dramatically. “The luck of the draw, I’m afraid. You and I got more brains, they got more dancing talent.”

Kyungsoo laughed even louder at that.

Then he sighed. “Are we pathetic for missing our boyfriends after only a day?” he asked.

Junmyeon nudged his shoulder playfully. “Of course not. It doesn’t mean we’re dependent or anything. It just means we’re happy. There’s nothing wrong with that.”

They finally left the club at about three o’clock in the morning, and they had to take the bus back to town. Luhan was crashing with Sehun – although it was doubtful any of them would get any sleep – and Junhong was staying with a friend so Minho and Taemin could have some privacy. Junmyeon, Jonghyun, Kibum, and Kyungsoo shared a hotel room. Kyungsoo tried to pay his share of it, but the other three – who were still getting money from their parents – refused to accept any cash.

Kyungsoo lay awake in the bed he was sharing with Junmyeon long after everyone else had fallen asleep, texting Jongin. He smiled as message after message lit up the screen of his phone, detailing Jongin’s day and how much he had missed the elder, making Kyungsoo smile so broadly his cheeks were hurting. He hadn’t thought it was possible to be that happy.

“You should go to sleep,” Jongin finally messaged him. “The earlier you get up tomorrow, the earlier you can come home to me.”

Kyungsoo had to stifle a laugh so he didn’t wake up any of the others. “Okay, okay,” he texted. “I’ll see you tomorrow. I love you.”

“I love you more.”

Dawwww dependent Kyungsoo is dependent. It's adorbs.

So I've got a question for everyone: if I were to write a story with a group OTHER THAN EXO, what group would you like to read most? Just curious. I've noticed that my EXO stories get way more hits than my stories with other groups, so I'm just wondering who else you guys like to read about.

Also, 1 year, 6 months, and 4 days until my wedding!! I think I'm going to do a countdown on every update haha

And I started a new story, Baekyeol centric: Once Upon a Midnight Dreary

Like this story? Give it an Upvote!
