Clear Mike's death
A note in QL 737 .P96 F67 1983 p. 178After their presentation, Kim went home to prepare her written investigation and evidence to show to the police. After Pie’s classes, they both went to the police station and talked to the Chief.
Pie confessed to the Chief. The chief invited the president, the student discipline officer, and the other members of the board of the university and Mike and Jack’s parents to report the investigation. They cleared the Mike’s death but the disappearance of Jack was still questionable.
Mike’s parents thanked Kim and Pie. They all went to the library to offer prayers for Mike. Kim checked the book where Mike left the note, it was gone.
“Hey Kim, are you still making love notes?” Pie asked.
Kim laughed. “No, I’m just checking Mike’s note.”
“Are you exchanging notes with Mike?”
“No, remember he wrote about this.” She showed the photo from her phone.
“I thought Mike was the bad guy.” Pie said.
“Me too.”
“You are a cheater Kim.” Pie said.
“What? Why?” Kim asked.
“Me and your love note lover.” Pie answered.
“But it was still you.” Kim said.
“Yes, but I’m still jealous.”
“How about me and your love note, huh?”
“So you’re jealous too?” Pie asked.
Kim nodded.
Pie wrapped her hands around Kim’s shoulders. “I love you Kim.”
“I love you more Pie. Let’s go home.”
They are about to reach downstairs, Kim looked back; she saw Mike smiling and waving at them and vanished.
Kim and Pie removed the notes posted on the wall in Kim’s bedroom. They burned the notes in a trash can at the rooftop.
They were on the couch while watching flame in a trash can. Kim lay down on the couch resting her head on Pie’s lap. Pie brushed her fingers at Kim’s hair that made Kim closed her eyes.
“Kim?”
“Yes?”
“I will go visit my parents tomorrow to tell them about the graduation.”
“Do you want me to go with you?” Kim asked.
“I should go alone Kim.”
“You don’t want me to meet them?”
“I want to Kim but I want you to meet them at the graduation. I have to talk to them about us.”
“Okay, ma’am. If that’s you wish.”
“You will have a whole day to rest tomorrow.”
Kim nodded. “I saw Mike at the library Pie. I saw him smiling.”
“I’m glad he’s happy now Kim.”
“Mike did a something big for us Pie.”
“Like?”
“He told us to fight for love.”
Pie smiled.
Kim tried to remember the day when her table at the basement was occupied by a guy and she thought, “Thanks Mike. I know it was you.”
