Home sweet home. It’s been a long time since I stepped into this place.

“What’s wrong?” 

I looked at Kris who had his eyebrows lifted.

“Is she even home?”

“Nope”

“Stop wasting my time Kris”

“Ge” huh?

“Hmm?”

“Kris Ge”

“Oh please. Mum raised you. Not dad, so I won’t call you that”

“Can you not..”

“Whatever. I’ll be in my room”

I walked back to my old room where everything was left as it is. I looked over at the family portrait that hung just above my study table. My Mum and and Dad got divorced when I was 5 and Kris was 10. My dad took me while my mum took Kris. I was happy with dad until he got super busy and I was sent back to Canada to live with Kris and mum. So basically I’m always travelling from China to Canada then back to Korea. I hate it here but than I got the opportunity to stay away from her when I was casted as a child actress. That’s where I begun my life as an actress. I still hate this place. Why? It brings back so much memories. Painful memories.

“Meimei?” I turned to see him at the door.

“Can you not call me that?”

He pushed the door open wide and came in.

“Who said you can come in?”

He stopped on his track.

“That’s a joke. Come in”

He sighed and sat on the couch.

“What’s up?”

“Can you be nice to Mum?”

“Am I not nice all these time?”

“I mean.. Say nice things to her. Be ladylike for her”

“Oh please. I don’t have to pretend to be someone else when I’m with Dad”

“That’s not what I mean. I mean.. you’re famous. What if one day they ask you about Mum? You’re never close to her. I don’t want this to ruin your career”

“That’s none of your business Kris”

“Stop being stubborn”

“Kris! Can you not.. Urgh just get out”

“Mei..”

“GET OUT”

He was about to say something but I covered my ears and started humming not wanting to hear anything. When he left my room I flopped on the bed. I really don’t like talking about my family. Oh why do I have to deal with such people. Suddenly my phone vibrated.
