CHAPTER 7: THE SURPRISE NEWS

'The Director of the Horvejkul's Company Was Caught Sleeping With An Unknown Woman'

Mrs. Horvejkul could only stare at the television screen, seeing the pictures of her son and the unknown woman sleeping together, on the same bed. It clearly showed they did do something illegal for people who hadn't married yet. She was angry at her son, of course. But the feeling of sadness overcame everything. She didn't even believe for a second that her son had betrayed her trust all this time.

She never taught Nichkhun to behave in such a way. Sleeping with someone whom she thought was not his girlfriend. She couldn't deny that her worry for him was increasing rapidly these past few months due to the rumors she heard about him paying any beautiful or hot girls just to satisfy him on bed. Even his late father never taught him to disrespect the girls.

Before Mrs. Horvejkul could hear another diss said by the reporter about her son, the television turned to pitch black, making the living room to be filled with a dead silence. However, the silence got interrupted by a voice in which she would hear an explanation from.

"Aunty, I don't think this is the right time for you to watch this kind of news." Wooyoung went to sit in front of Mrs. Horvejkul, with a worrying look all over his face.

Upon hearing his words, Mrs. Horvejkul let out a heavy sigh. "You know Wooyoung. I give that company to Nichkhun because I believe in him, I trust him and I know he can be a great director to his workers. I have to admit, he succeeds in handling the company."

"But he fails in handling himself."

A pang of guilty hit Wooyoung's heart. He knew the reason why Nichkhun behaved in that way and he wished he could tell Mrs. Horvejkul the reason behind his naughtiness but he just couldn't due to the promise he had with Nichkhun.

"He was a good son. Everyone respected him because of his friendly attitude, his determination in making the company as one of the most powerful and successful company in Korea. But what happen now? It seems like everyone forgets about every little thing he did just because of one stupid mistake."

"But aunty knows, this is not the first time he commits such a sin. Even though everyone keeps persuading me that he doesn't do any dirty things like that, my instinct always tells me something is not right with him. He is.. Different."

'Mom's instincts always right.'Wooyoung thought. As someone who had been with Nichkhun for the past ten years, he couldn't deny every single thing that had said by Mrs. Horvejkhul. Truth to be told, he did blame himself for what had happened to Nichkhun after Victoria left him due to that reason. Before he knew the real reason for her sudden leaving, he put all the blame to Victoria as if he was shifting all the weights from his shoulders to hers. Little did he know, he was actually putting more pain to her already full of weights shoulders.

Ignoring the fact that Victoria was his friend too, he didn't think twice to take Nichkhun's side in the KhunToria's break up situation. He had witnessed a lot of Nichkhun's heartbreaking scenes that were all caused by Victoria Song. He didn't even think of Victoria's real feelings, instead he pointed his finger to her as if Nichkhun's sudden change in behaviour was all her mistake.

“If his dad is still here, he will be very disappointed in Nichkhun. Do you know how happy he was when Nichkhun was born? Before he was born, the doctor told us that the chance for aunty to get pregnant was ten percent. So we lose hope. We didn’t expect to receive that fortunate news one night and it took a minute for him to break into tears when the doctor happily announced that I was pregnant.”

“Once Nichkhun entered our lives, everything was perfect. Your uncle got the job at the company he desired. In fact, he got promoted to be the CEO after 2 years of working and we were all so happy with the news. His dad worked really hard to achieve his dreams and when he did, he told me he would train Nichkhun to be like him in the future,” a tear slipped from her eyes but she quickly wiped it before continued, “Your uncle did everything to make Nichkhun understands all of the procedures regarding the company. Being the smart guy he was, Nichkhun had no problem at all and not a single thing went wrong when he was trained to handle the company with his dad by his side,” her lips curled upwards, showing Wooyoung a small smile in which he returned half-heartedly.

Wooyoung had no doubt Nichkhun would be as successful as his dad considering the fact he was one of the smartest students when they were still in college. Aside from his good looking face, he was one of the teachers’ favorites due to his good grades, unlike him. Wooyoung was not that smart, but he was smart enough when it came to giving advices to Nichkhun and thanks to that ability, they became inseparable from the moment they knew each other.

Remembering the old times surely made a small laugh slipped from his lips. He shook his head with a smile on his face when Mrs. Horvejkhul eyed him suspiciously. “I was just remembering the old times when we were still in college, aunty. I clearly had no idea why Nichkhun and I clicked together just like the lock and the key. He was like the lock, while I was the key. When we first met, he looked so peaceful and innocent as if he was far from any trouble or anything,” his smile slowly faded before he continued, “But everything changed when his dad left him in that very same day.”

A sigh escaped his lips after he uttered the words in front of Mrs. Horvejkhul. It was hard for him to say those words, but it was a long time ago and he honestly thought Mrs. Horvejkhul could finally move on from the past and think of the future that was about to come. “We exchanged a few words with each other before his world crumbled down minutes after we talked. The panicked look on our teacher’s face when she approached us and the look on his face when she told him the bad news made me realized something bad was coming in his way.”

“It’s sad isn’t it? Our first day of becoming friends is the day where his father left him,” he blinked back the tears that were waiting to fall. He gently wiped it hoping the older woman didn’t notice it. But it was too late as he felt she patted his back slowly in a soothing manner.

Wooyoung couldn’t help but to blame himself for the incident that happened to Nichkhun’s dad. Although he wasn’t related to his death, he felt guilty for becoming Nichkhun’s friend on the day his dad had left him. In all honesty, he never brought up the topic of their first meeting in front of Nichkhun because he was scared Nichkhun would remember his late dad and broke down in tears. He didn’t want to hurt him so whenever their friends brought up their past, especially regarding the ‘first day of meeting’ topic, he would just shrugged the topic off much to their friends dismay.

“People always say ‘If we laugh too much, we’ll cry in sadness sooner or later,’ you do know that don’t you?”

He nodded, indicating he understood the meaning of the phrase. “It’s a life cycle, son. Sometimes, reality is harsh. The only thing we can do is to hold ourselves together from crumbling down and follow the flow God has set for us,” removing her hand from Wooyoung’s back, Mrs. Horvejkhul walkped past Wooyoung before stopping in front of big picture frame which was hanging on the wall. She gave it a deep stare before her small hand caressed the younger man in the picture.

"Wooyoung-ah, can you do me a favor?" Wooyoung sensed she was going to ask him to do something extraordinary. He stood still on his place, waiting calmly for her words.

"Can you help me find the girl that was sleeping with Nichkhun?"

His heartbeat began to race ten times faster than usual. No, this was not good.

She cleared before continued, "I know this is a bit too much but I think this is the best thing that I can do for now.” She turned around only to meet the shivering Wooyoung before she continued.

“And please don't let him know a single thing I asked you to do."

Upon hearing her words, Wooyoung couldn't help but to stare deeply into her eyes, stunned. How was he supposed to do that without Nichkhun's knowing?

Staring at the the wall in front of him, Nichkhun gulped down the alcohol that he had drank for the nth time. "I'm trapped." Realizing that he was being fooled and trapped into the world he never thought he would be by the woman who gave him the worst and the best feelings he ever had in his entire life. Why the hell did Victoria do that to him? He was not some kind of toys that girls could play with. Making him sleeping with her just to destroy every little business thing he had built from the start of his career life.

"She's a after all. A that will always hurt other people just to get what she wants."He mumbled before taking another sip of the alcohol. How could she? Because of her his stocks value had dropped down in just a blink of an eye. Because of her everyone began to think negatively of him and this news finally confirmed the past rumors about him sleeping with any hot girls he met at the club.

One thing he didn't understand at all. How the hell did he end up with Victoria in that room? Truthfully, he didn't remember anything regarding the incident. Once he had woken up from his beauty sleep, he felt.. Different.

Flashback

Heavy footsteps approached his overly sensitive ears and yet he didn't want to open his eyes and ditch the feeling of warmth he felt at that moment. He did ‘it’ and it was one of the best feelings he ever had after a while. Although he knew the moment he shared with that girl just was just for a short amount of time but he felt oddly satisfied. It was rare for him to feel the strangely familiar yet relaxing and intoxicating scent generated by the girl beside him. He wanted to enjoy everything while he still could.

He thought he was dreaming; dreaming of the impossible. He felt as if she was just beside him, giving him every little moan of pleasures; encouraging him to continue the love making process they had been doing for a while. He promised himself he would not wake up from the dream that sent the shivers along his spine. Alcohol was surely one of the reasons why he didn’t want to open his eyes but the heat radiated from the woman's body overcame everything.

When he was about to snuggle closer into her body, she made the move first by moving herself into his welcoming arms. He wanted to show her a wide grin but she wasn't awake to see his wicked grin, was she? He didn't want to be misunderstood for being crazy by her.

Ignoring the sound of the creaking door which he assumed was the door to their room; Nichkhun sniffed her hair unknowingly, resulting him to let out a hum in response to her nice smelling hair. It was a combination of vanilla and lavender and just smelling it made him .

Out of the sudden, he felt as if he heard someone let out a gasp followed by the sound of running footsteps by the person he thought was opening the door to their room and for the nth time he didn't want to open his eyes as he thought that wasn't a big deal.

His hand caressed her while his lips made its way to her forehead; landing a tight but sweet kiss on it. He admitted, he was crazy enough to do that when he didn't even know the girl who was sleeping beside him. It just felt so..  Right.

He wasn't even in his right mind to embrace the stranger which he found amusing. He knew he wasn’t the type to get attracted easily to someone he just met but the girl inside his arms right now made him think differently. To him, she was like a magnet. He couldn’t help himself from being attracted to this girl. It was as if she pulled him directly into her arms and that one move was more than enough to drive him mad.

“Hmm..”
