Jessica

Temporarily Yours

Jessica knew that she was going a little too far with her decision, but it has to be done.

Earlier that day she had a private conversation with her father over the phone. He called to apologize for his previous actions during their dinner, and he had surprisingly sounded sincere. But Jessica had a certain feeling that her father had some hidden agenda going on behind her back. Then her father told her that he only said those words because he did not trust Yuri enough. He did not believe that she was capable of making Jessica's life any better.

But Jessica talked back. She defended Yuri, saying how much she loves her and that she doesn't want to let her go. Their talk ended up with her father sighing and saying that he will give them a chance. Jessica promised him a month and if she doesn't convince him in time, then maybe she'll consider getting married.

Maybe? More like never.

Then there goes Yuri. Jessica's face still goes red whenever her mind goes to the fact that they shared a bed one night. What made it worse was that she was almost . She had a sleeping habit of having no clothes on, especially when the temperature inside the room is despicably low. But what bothered her the most was that she slept right next to someone in that situation.

She knew that Yuri might possibly be disgusted with her after what had happened. But if it was anyone else, that person would've thought that he/she saved a country from his/her previous life to have been given the opportunity to sleep besides a Jessica Jung.

But this was Kwon Yuri we're talking about. She doesn't even like socializing or interacting with people, what more if she sleeps with them?

We were drunk though. I hope she understands the fact that we were both out of our minds during that time.

She kept reminding herself that it was all an accident. But in the back of her mind and deep inside her heart, there was a certain feeling of joy which lingered. Whenever she thought about waking up and seeing Yuri standing awkwardly as she tried her best to avoid looking at Jessica's bare situation that day, she couldn't help but smile cheekily.

The thought of Yuri getting flustered and shy around her made her feel so giddy.

Wait, what am I even thinking? I shouldn't be happy about it.

Jessica tried to forget about that and instead focused on her real problem: Asking Yuri to move in with her. She knows that it might be going a little bit too far, but she had no choice. She had to be close to Yuri as much as possible. The other girl would barely spend time with her or even hang out with her, so the best option for them to know each other better is to live together under one roof.

It might not be an easy task, but Jessica hopes (and prays) that Yuri would say yes to her. It's not like they're going to live together permanently anyway.

All these things would only happen temporarily. They just have to do a good job in acting like love-sick puppies and Jessica just needs to stop herself from falling in love with Kwon Yuri.

*

"You have got to be kidding me."

Jessica tried to do her best puppy eyes under the piercing glare of the raven haired woman in front of her. At school, Jessica was always told how her looks and her eyes made her look so intimidating and now as she cowers under the gaze of Kwon Yuri, she wonders if this is how the other people feel about her.

"I'm not kidding." Jessica says after a moment. She starts fiddling with the fingers resting on her lap. "I need you to move in with me."

"That is the most ridiculous thing I've heard." Jessica expected Yuri to throw a fit or maybe yell at her a little, but the younger girl was surprisingly calm. But the chuckle that she let out was a bit terrifying because a person who was laughing with a serious facial expression was deadly in Jessica's eyes. "Why would you ask me to do something like that? I suppose you know what I would answer in the end."

"It's gonna be a yes right?" There was a spark of hope in Jessica's eyes as she looked at the other girl. "Please, you need to do this for me. It's barely half a month and we haven't proven anything to my father yet. I think if we show him that we actually live together, he might be convinced."

Yuri scowled and looked at the grass beneath her feet. "Convinced? Jessica, didn't you hear him say all those things during our dinner? It's kinda obvious that he doesn't like me. I don't like forcing people to have any interest in me." The blonde nearly winced at the sudden coldness in Yuri's voice. She was different from the girl who had comforted Jessica when she was crying that night.

"But you promised that you'd help me no matter what. Remember our contract?"

Jessica was indeed right. According to their contract, Yuri must oblige to whatever Jessica would ask her to do as long as it was related to her problem. But still the taller girl hesitated. It made Jessica worry and lose her confidence that Yuri would agree to do what she wants.

"But..moving in? Don't you think that's a bit too much?" Yuri didn't anymore sound cold, only a little confused. The pitch of her voice gave Jessica a feeling that she might actually consider saying yes.

"It'll only be for a month. Once the time is up, that's when we can get out of each others' lives." Jessica explained. She grabbed Yuri's arm and squeezed it, forming her lips into a pout as well as begging with her eyes. "Please Yuweee, please please pleaseeee." She used her best aegyo voice, and it was enough to make Yuri's face grimace.

"Let go off me." Yuri says annoyingly and tries to free herself from the blonde's grip. But Jessica only held her tighter and continued begging with her high-pitched voice. Yuri's face showed her annoyance but deep inside she could feel butterflies floating around inside her stomach. "Let.Go.Of.Me."

Jessica did release her arm but instead of backing away, she started leaning dangerously close towards Yuri. Out of reflex, the taller girl backed away so fast that she ended up falling from the swing. She landed on her back against the grass and before she can even get up, another body collided on top of her and soon enough Jessica's face was a half an inch away from hers.

"What do you think you're doing?!" Yuri was in a verge of panic. She can feel the loud beating of her heart and her cheeks warming up. The blonde was leaning even closer that it reached to the point that Yuri can already feel warm breathing against her lips. "Stop it! Get away from me Jessica, I swear to God..."

Yuri was never able to finish her sentence because the last thing she saw was the smirk on Jessica's face before the older girl leaned downwards and crashed her lips against hers. The girl underneath widened her eyes and her entire body stiffened. Her brain was at the reach of exploding but in the end all she was able to do was to close her eyes and allow the feeling of electricity flow through her veins.

After a few seconds Jessica pulled away, a smirk still evident on her face.

"I'd kiss you again if you won't say yes."

For a moment, Yuri was at a state of shock. She can barely move and her eyes were still as round as a full moon. Her gaze focused on the pair of plump lips in front of her but soon enough she went back to her real self and she immediately pushed the other girl off of her.

"What do you think you were doing?!" Yuri sat straight up and glared at Jessica in the eye. She wiped her lips with her sleeves but she didn't know that her action had offended the blonde a little. "You can't just kiss me out of the blue!"

"I'm sorry okay? You were being so hard to get." Jessica instantly apologizes with the same desperation in her voice. "And for your information, I didn't kiss you because I wanted to! It was because I had to earn a yes from you!"

Yuri scoffed and rolled her eyes. "Oh come on, you don't actually expect that a person like me would simply agree to your stupid idea just because I got a kiss from you? Sorry to say but I'm not that easy Jung." She was being her natural self, saying all these words, but it hadn't come to her that she had hurt Jessica with all that she said. "Don't take me as a person that you can easily manipulate. I am not like those stupid fans of yours."

Jessica clenched her fists and glared at the ground. She couldn't believe Yuri can actually be this harsh, after all they've been through. She then got up from the grass and dusted herself off.

"Stupid idea? Stupid fans? What exactly do you think of me Kwon Yuri? Am I just trash to you?" Jessica tried to stop herself from sounding overly upset but she couldn't help it. Her bottom lip was starting to quiver and all she could do was to stop herself from tearing up. "I can't believe I actually thought that you're different. People are right. You are a mean person."

If those words came from any other person, Yuri wouldn't have cared. She was used to people calling her names and labelling her with negative things. But as she hears them from Jessica, the words were like arrows which pierced her heart. It also didn't help that the blonde was on the verge of tearing up again.

"Look, I didn't mean to offend you. I'm sorry if I asked you to move in with me. I'm sorry if I kissed you without your permission. And most importantly, I'm sorry if I dragged you into this 'stupid' mess which I'd like to call as my life." Jessica's face turned sour. "Don't worry, I won't bother you anymore. I hope you're happy." And with that final sentence, she spun around and walked away as fast as she could.

Yuri was left sitting on the green grass, with her eyes following the figure of Jessica which soon disappeared from her view. She felt as though she'd been roughly punched in the gut and all she can do was to sigh. She raked her fingers through her black locks and mentally scolded herself. Yuri hated making girls cry.

But what she hated most of all, was that she had to apologize.

Yuri gently trailed her fingers across her lips. She didn't know why but as she replayed their kiss inside her mind, her heart started beating rapidly in an unusual way.

*

"Stupid Kwon. Stupid her and her stupid attitude."

Jessica continously punched the stuffed toy kitten on her hands. She was inside her bedroom, listening to ballad music while thinking of the events which occured earlier that afternoon. She was so upset that she wanted to punch a wall.

Maybe if I sleep on it, everything would get better.

Just as she was about to bury her face into a pillow, the doorbell suddenly rang. With a sigh Jessica lifted herself off the mattress and trudged towards the door. As she opened it, she was surprised to see a very familiar face beaming her a dimpled smile.

"Taengoo?" Jessica was soon pulled into a light embrace. She patted the shorter girl on her back before leading her inside the living room. The two girls settled on the couch and judging by the way that Taeyeon smiled and played with her hands, the shortie had something to say to her. "Tae, what's the matter with you?"

"W-What? What's the matter with me?" Taeyeon stupidly returns the question with the smile still plastered on her face. She looked totally out of her mind and it was sort of creeping Jessica out. Jessica knew that it was either Taeyeon had experienced something really wonderful or her bestfriend had finally decided to take drugs.

"You're smiling like a total idiot. Spill it out." Jessica exclaimed as she playfully pinched the older girl on her arm.

Taeyeon spanked her hands away. "Well...To be honest I came here to pay you a visit since we haven't been spending much time together and.." Her voice trailed off and once again her cheeky smile appears. Jessica rolls her eyes. She had a urge to grab a frying pan and use it to hit the back of her bestfriend's head, but she chose not to. "..Sica." Taeyeon's voice suddenly turned serious as she looked into the blonde's eyes.

"Y-Yes?"

"I..I think I'm in love." Jessica's eyes widened as she leaned back and moved away from Taeyeon.

"With me?" She asked with shock.

After hearing her question, Taeyeon suddenly bursted out into laughter. Her ajhumma laugh filled the entire apartment unit and Jessica was a bit worried that the other tenants might hear it. She wondered why the other girl was acting so strange, but she was sure that the girl wasn't joking when she told her about her newly discovered feelings.

When Taeyeon's laughter finally died, she managed to continue with her words. "Of course not Sica! Don't be silly, why would I fall in love with my bestfriend?"

"Uhh..Because I'm overly pretty and too y for your own good?"

This time though, Taeyeon didn't laugh but instead hit her at the back of her head. Jessica giggled softly and soon enough Taeyeon laughed along with her. "Stop playing around blondie or else I wouldn't tell you about my new crush."

Jessica's eyes quickly beamed with curiousity. "Oooh, Taengoo has a crush? Now who might that unlucky person be?"

The brunette only rolled her eyes before speaking. "I met this girl during Chemistry class. She turns out to be a classmate of mine all along but I guess I've never noticed her before because she's an exchange student. We became partners in one of our lab projects and we got to know each other this morning." Taeyeon sighs like a romantically-deprived person.

Jessica raises an eyebrow. "Wait, an exchange student? Where from?"

"America." Taeyeon answers and then something hits Jessica like a lightning bolt. "Her name is Tiffany Hwang. She's this really pretty brunette with a blinding eyesmile and a low angelic voice. She's really friendly and she is just...wow." Taeyeon speaks as though she was an angel sent from heaven.

All the while Taeyeon spoke and told her about Tiffany, Jessica couldn't help but think about one thing.

Poor Taeyeon. What would happen to her if she finds out that Tiffany likes Yuri?

A frown appeared on her face and even though Taeyeon was like floating in cloudnine, the sudden change of look on the blonde's face did not escape her eye. "Sica, what's wrong?"

Jessica quickly shook it off and smiled. "Nothing. You were saying?"

"Aigoo, you're spacing too much these days. It seems that your mind is often being occupied." The grin on Taeyeon's face tells something else. "Does Kwon Yuri invade your mind that much for you to ignore your bestfriend's love story?" With Yuri's name being mentioned, Jessica couldn't help but feel upset all over again. She thought that she'd eventually forget about it and let it go, but she just can't. It's strange because she only usually gets mad at the people whom she cares a lot about.

"Don't even bring her up." Jessica's ice princess manner suddenly pops up.

"Why what happened?" Taeyeon's motherly voice breaks in as she touches the younger girl's arm. "Did something happen between you two?"

Jessica crossed her arms and glared at the television from across the room. "Why don't you ask that jerk? I don't want to talk about it."

Taeyeon's eyebrows merge together as she frowns. She sighs but says nothing. Her arm immediately found its way around Jessica's shoulders as she pulls the blonde close to her. Jessica accepts the gesture of comfort and automatically leans her head on the other girl's shoulders.

At times like this, nothing but the feeling of Taeyeon's presence can comfort her. The thought of helping Taeyeon win over the heart of Tiffany Hwang suddenly flashes in Jessica's mind.

*

It was another Monday morning, and as usual Jessica was too lazy to get up from bed.

A few hours later she was dressed in her school uniform and was about to exit the apartment building. But she suddenly paused in her tracks once she caught a sight of a black SUV parked in front of the building's main entrance. What surprised her was that a man got out of the driver's seat and it turned out to be the person that Jessica wanted to see the least.

"Dongwook-shi?"

Dongwook was wearing casual clothes and he was holding a boquet of flowers. His handsome face flashed a smile as he approached Jessica. He grabbed her hand and kissed it, just like the way guys do in those romantic movies. Jessica fought the urge to make a disgusted face but instead mustered out a smile.

"Hi Jessica-shi. I'm sorry if I had taken you aback with my sudden visit. I just thought of paying you a visit." He sounded sincere and looks a lot better without wearing the usual black suit that he always wears. "If it's okay with you, can I give you a ride to your school?"

For a moment, the thought of Yuri and her bike entered Jessica's mind. But then she remembered the words Yuri had spat out to her. She threw Yuri out of her mind and smiled at Dongwook.

"Of course."

*

When they arrived at school, almost the entire highschool students crowded around Dongwook's car. Many of them gasped when they saw Jessica stepping out of the car with Dongwook assisting her. The girls all squealed and were blown away by the good looks of Dongwook. Jessica only ducked her head and smiled shyly at all the attention they were getting. The last thing that she wants is a scandal between her and this man.

Damn, I should've just declined his offer for a ride.

"Jessica! Is he your boyfriend?"

"Wow he's so rich and handsome! You're so lucky!"

"They look great together! The perfect match!"

Jessica wanted to block her ears from hearing all their words. But on the other hand Dongwook seemed to like the attention they were all getting. Some of the students even tried snapping pictures and Jessica had to stop herself from glaring at them.

"Thanks for the ride Dongwook-shi. I'll see you some other time." Jessica flashes a polite smile and bows at him. But as she attempts to leave, a hand catches her arm and held her back.

"Hey, you don't have to be so formal with me. You can call me Dongwook oppa." He smiled at her and gave her arm a squeeze.

Jessica releases herself from his grip but continues with her smile. "Sure thing." Oh hell no.

The students continued chattering around them and Jessica had to use all of her strength to push through the crowd. After a few minutes of entertaining the other students' questions, Jessica finally managed to enter the campus. She was about to pass by a corridor when all of a sudden she was grabbed by the arm and soon enough she felt her back hit against the wall.

A familiar pair of dark brown eyes stared into her own. Jessica couldn't believe who it was standing in front of her.

"Y-Yuri?"

For a moment as they stared into each other's eyes, Jessica forgot about her anger. But then it all started coming back to her. She recalled the words that Yuri had said to her. She remembered the disgusted look on Yuri's face after she had kissed her. She remembered the way Yuri had insulted her.

"What do you want?" Jessica eyes narrowed as she yanked herself free from the taller girl's grip.

Yuri didn't look too happy either, but her next words surprised Jessica. "What were you doing with him?"

"What are you talking about? Dongwook oppa drove me to school today." Jessica tried to sound nonchalant as she looked down at her feet. For some reason she did not want to look at Yuri's eyes. It makes her heart pound.

"Oh, so you call him 'oppa' now?" Yuri spoke with a scowl.

Jessica did not like where this was going. "Why do you even care? We shouldn't even be speaking to each other in the first place." She glared at Yuri before attempting to stomp away, but Yuri grabbed her shoulder and fixed her back in her previous position.

"I'm not yet done talking." Yuri growled. Jessica was a little bit surprised at the tone of anger in Yuri's voice. She'd heard from others how scary Yuri can be when she's mad, but she never had seen it in real before. But she didn't want to stay and find out.

"There's nothing else to talk about." Jessica responded calmly.

Yuri took a deep sigh and hung her head. Jessica only observed her in silence. The younger girl took more several deep breaths before finally lifting her head and looking at Jessica directly in the eye. The blonde was taken aback with the sudden gleam of sincerity in Yuri's eyes but she also sensed the feeling that Yuri was trying to hold herself back.

"Look Jessica, it's not easy for me to say this but.." Yuri ducked her head once more. It was obvious that she was having a hard time. Jessica almost wanted to laugh at the other girl's situation because she'd never seen Yuri act so hesitant and confused. Yuri always seemed so laid back and sure of herself. "..I'm sorry. I apologize for my actions okay?"

Yes! Finally! You apologized you idiot.

Jessica didn't want to give in easily. She raised an eyebrow skeptically and crossed her arms over her chest. "Apologize for what?"

Yuri sighed, again. "You know..For all those things I've said to you that night. I want you to know that...that I didn't mean them. I was just stunned about the kiss, that's all."

"Really?"

"Yes, really." Yuri rolled her eyes and scratched the back of her neck. Jessica took note of how Yuri was sort of blushing and it was difficult for her to stop herself from pinching the other girl's cheeks.

"How am I going to be sure that you wouldn't do it again?" Jessica asks with a hint of teasing in her voice.

"Just freaking forgive me already." Yuri sounded annoyed, almost. But Jessica was having a good time making fun of her. At times when Kwon Yuri is being vulnerable, Jessica at least needs to take the chance to .

"Alright, alright." Jessica says with a laugh. She beams a smile and pats Yuri awkwardly on the shoulder. "We're okay. I'm sorry too, for kissing you and saying all those mean things."

"..You don't have to apologize for the kissing part though." She somehow heard it coming from Yuri's mouth.

Jessica's ears perked up and she turned to Yuri with a questioning gaze. "What did you say?"

Yuri, with wide eyes and blushing cheeks, quickly turned away and cleared . "N-Nothing. Let's go now because class starts in two minutes. We don't want to be late." The younger girl suddenly sped off, leaving Jessica standing behind on her own.

Jessica wonders again for a moment if she heard Yuri right. A smile slowly spread across her lips before she shook her head and followed the direction where Yuri had gone.
