The WINNER Headquarters; GO TO "THE YG PRINCES" thread![ARTICLE] WINNER VS GOT7, EXO INVASION… BOY GROUPS’ ‘NEW TROIKA’ GENERATION?
[Sports Donga] GOT7 and Winner. Attention has been solely on the rivalry of YG Entertainment (YG) and JYP Entertainment (JYP) as these two rookie groups are looking forward to their debut.
JYP’s 7-member male group GOT7 (JB·Mark·Jackson·YookYum·Jr.·BamBam·YeongJae) will release their debut album on the 20th. YG’s 5-member male group WINNER (Song MinHo, Kang SeungYoon, Lee SeungHoon, Kim JinWoo, Nam TaeHyun) is also planning to release their debut album in February.
After YG and JYP produced many popular idol singers and became the ‘Big 3 Music Industry’, this is the first time that they are competing with huge rookie groups.
The music industry is watching out for the entertaining pride battle between the two sides. Also the fact that the two groups are showing off hip-hop background music gathers attention.
GOT7 that will debut first is JYP’s first hip-hop group. This is also a new experiment by Park Jin Young who have been producing a lot in the pop dance genre.
Especially GOT7 will get a lot of attention through their combined martial moves and b-boying moves called ‘Martial Arts Tricking’ which will become a fantastic performance. The members were chosen through auditions in Korea, America, Hong Kong, and Thailand.
Winner who is planning their debut in February is YG’s first male group after 8 years. They have gathered many fans and even a fandom through their Mnet show ‘Who Is Next: WIN’ that was aired last fall to show the producing process and their talents and skills.
The members’ self-written songs will be included in the album, and so the term ‘post-Big Bang’ is naturally being given to them.
YG and JYP will each send out Winner and GOT7 for their pride battle, but this itself will also become a great way to get the public’s attention.
By releasing the two huge rookie groups at the same time, the rivalry will increase, therefore becoming an issue in the music industry.
Also including SM Entertainment’s powerful rookie group EXO, this naturally will become the ‘New Troika’ of a male group.
