As my breath stills,
and my heart aches
at reality:
Not incapability; 
it was
hesitance
that was the root.

not directed at me

Wish
something existed
between us

A laugh.

How could it?
when we never
bothered with
(even)
greetings?

Something;
A mere shadow 
of what 
Could've
but never 
stood a chance to
     Be.

If only.

I sigh.

Oh, such foolishness:
my heart aches so,
At a love that never was.
(will never be,)

I convince myself:
Perhaps this is better;
After all,
you cannot experience loss
if you never had it at all.
(right?)
