Rating:

Genres: fluff, cliché, domestic, boring, blegh

Wow this is the most cliche predictable thing ever even the summary is cheesy but oh well I had this sitting around half done since last year so I thought I'd finish it plus I just wanted to write daddy!Gyu.

-

It was a cold morning, as Sunggyu snuggled deeper under the covers. He groaned as his alarm went off for the third time. He tried to ignore it, but it was so damn annoying that he roughly pulled his cozy quilt off and slammed the snooze button on the blaring device.

Sighing, he ran a hand through his hair, before finally catching a glimpse of the time.

“Oh !” He hastily jumped off the bed and rushed down the hall. He pushed open a door into a pink bedroom, to see a stone faced little girl sitting there on her bed with her arms folded. She was in her pink penguin pajamas, and matching socks.

Sunggyu smiled sheepishly. “Sorry Nana I overslept—.” But then the little girl’s chubby face broke out into a smile as she leapt into her father’s arms.

“You’re finally up appa! I was waiting for hours!”

“Sorry kid.” Sunggyu chuckled, the back of her soft, dark brown locks. Then he put her down and smiled. “Happy Birthday~”

“Thank you appa~!” Nana giggled, and then seemed to be looking for something.

Sunggyu smiled knowingly. “You’ll get your present later at your party ok? Appa just has to go take care of some things.” He glanced at his watch, and bit his lip. It was already almost ten, and he still had a bunch of things to do. “Um can you go wait in the kitchen while appa gets ready?” Nana nodded happily and Sunggyu patted her head softly before rushing into the bathroom to shower.

When he got out of the shower, whilst fiddling with his shirt buttons he could smell something tasty and sweet coming from the kitchen. He hurried in to see the back of a dark haired man in an apron, and smiled. Nana was at the counter watching the man happily.

“Appa, Woohyun appa’s making pancakes!” Nana cheered as soon as she saw Sunggyu walk in. Woohyun turned and grinned.

“Yah how could you not even feed your child on her birthday?” He joked. But Sunggyu ignored him and immediately had an arm around Woohyun’s shoulder pulling him in for a hug, giving the shorter man a nose full of his freshly showered scent.

“Thank god you’re here.” He breathed in Woohyun’s ear, before pulling away. Woohyun could only stare for a moment, before nodding shyly. “Seriously, you saved me.” Sunggyu smiled.

Then Nana hopped off her seat and walked up to Woohyun. “Woohyun appa, want me to help?”

Woohyun seemed to relax a little, and picked up the little girl in her pink PJs and placed her on the counter top. “Aigoo, how can I ask the princess to work on her special day?” He grinned and kissed her on the cheek. Nana giggled and Sunggyu was just thankful Woohyun always barged into their house uninvited. “Oh and its not appa, Nana. Its oppa.” Woohyun explained. “Your appa is Gyu and I’m your…?”

“Umma!” Nana giggled.

Woohyun frowned, while Sunggyu couldn’t help but snort in the background.

“No not umma! Oppa! C’mon Nana, say it.” Woohyun urged. “Oppa.”

Nana looked up at him with humored, sparkly eyes. “Appa.”

Woohyun sighed. “Never mind…”

Sunggyu smiled a little at the scene, before remembering the time.

“Ah, I just have to go drop something off at work.” He told Woohyun. “Can you watch Nana until then….and you know, maybe clean up a little for the party?”

Woohyun sighed. “Sure. You never clean anything properly anyways.”

“Yah, what’s that supposed to mean? I’m a great cleaner!” Sunggyu laughed and turned to leave.

“Wait appa!” Nana stopped him.

“Hm?”

Nana then jutted her lower lip out—in a way that Woohyun swore looked just like her father—and pointed to her cheek.

“Ah…” Sunggyu chuckled and leaned in, giving her a peck on the cheek, but Nana didn’t look pleased.

“Not me appa!” She whined. “Woohyun appa!”

“Oh…” Sunggyu nodded, nudging Woohyun. “Nana wants you to kiss her.”

“No not me!” Nana groaned. “Woohyun appa wants to give you a kiss appa!”

“What?” Sunggyu choked, while Woohyun’s eyes went wide.

“W-What’re you talking about, silly?” Woohyun laughed uneasily, while Sunggyu merely sighed.

“Ok, I’ll be back later.” The older man stated.

“Appa!” Nana cried out, and then looked down pitifully. “It’s…” She pouted. “It’s my birthday, but you still won’t do it?”

Immediately the guilt piled up on both men. They were weak when it came to Nana’s aegyo.

So Woohyun just got it over with and hastily gave Sunggyu a peck on the cheek.

“T-There, now off you go jagiya~” He was trying to make a joke, but Sunggyu could see the embarrassment practically b from Woohyun’s features. He thought it was kind of adorable. He lightly put his fingers to his cheek.

“Uh, ok well I better go.” He smiled slightly, though Woohyun still wasn’t making eye contact.

After Sunggyu had left, Woohyun turned to Nana with a frown.

“Yah, why would you make me do that?” He whined.

“Appa liked it~!” Nana was practically beaming. “Appa is falling for you already!”

Woohyun sighed, leaning on the counter top besides Nana. “You think?”

“All you have to do is cook appa a nice meal and confess to him with chocolates.” Nana explained. “That’s how a real lady would do it. As a woman I know what I’m talking about.”

Woohyun snorted. “Excuse me Nana-sshi, but I would rather not come off as a ‘real lady’ when I’m confessing. I don’t want him to laugh at me. And who said I was confessing anyways? Your appa doesn’t like me like that, ok?” He pulled her off the counter top, before returning to making breakfast.

Nana pouted as she stared at Woohyun’s slightly sullen shoulders and lowered back.

“Appa, do you want to know my birthday wish?” She suddenly piped up. Woohyun turned slightly and smiled.

“Sure. What did you wish for?”

“Umma.”

Woohyun froze, slowly turning and kneeling down in front of Nana and smiled sadly. “Nana—.”

“But…I know that won’t happen.” Nana looked down, fiddling with the edge of her pajama shirt. “But that’s ok.” She smiled up at Woohyun. “Because there’s something better. There’s Woohyun appa.”

Woohyun blinked. “But…I’m not—.”

“Gyu appa always smiles with Woohyun appa. Gyu appa isn’t lonely anymore when you’re there.” Nana murmured, and Woohyun’s heart swelled at the little girl’s words. “I want Woohyun appa to be my umma.”

Woohyun smiled. “Nana…you really care about your appa, huh?”

Nana nodded shyly. “I just want appa to be happy. That’s my wish.”

“Ok.” Woohyun nodded. “I understand.”

Nana’s eyes lit up. “You’ll confess?!”

Woohyun patted her head, a resigned smile on his face. “I’ll keep being your appa’s best friend, ok?” Nana pouted in disappointment, so Woohyun decided to change the subject.

“Do you want to take a bath to be nice and clean for your party?”

Nana was animated again. “Can appa braid my hair?”

“Sure.” Woohyun smiled softly, as he watched Nana rush off into her bedroom to choose her outfit. He sighed as soon as she was out of sight.

Before any of this, it’s not like he knew anything about braiding hair, or any feminine type activities. But then Sunggyu called Woohyun up at midnight on a rainy day seven years ago, saying his girlfriend was pregnant. Well it just about broke Woohyun’s heart. Woohyun, who had been Sunggyu’s best friend since high school, was only just starting to discover his feelings for Sunggyu while the two were in college. He thought that knowing the fact that Sunggyu would be having a baby would destroy these budding feelings, but it didn’t. No, not in the least. If anything, they only got stronger.

Especially after Nana’s mother disappeared but a few months after she was born.

Because then he was the one Sunggyu depended on again. Just like when they were kids. He still remembered when Sunggyu called him over the day before Nana’s birthday last year, and they spent all day searching for the perfect gift and all night attempting to learn how to French braid. They even used Nana’s dolls to practice.

Woohyun had been wanting so desperately to tell Sunggyu how he truly felt, but he didn’t want to ruin the amazing friendship they had now. Nana would be affected too, if it didn’t work out…if Sunggyu didn’t like him like that.

If.

Woohyun almost wanted to laugh. There was no if. Sunggyu saw him as an amazing friend. That was it. And that’s how it should stay.

Sunggyu rushed out of the office after handing in his paperwork. He had put it on his schedule for weeks to buy Nana her present—some kind of princess zombie doll—from the toy store but he never really got around to doing it. He managed to make it into the store with fifteen minutes to spare before lunchtime—the time of Nana’s party.

Unfortunately the store was out of stock for the zombie princess doll.

Sunggyu didn’t have time to drive to the other toy store across town. He mentally cursed, attempting to find another doll that may suffice. But then he got a text.

The party guests are already arriving hyung. You better hurry

-Woohyun

Sunggyu bit his lip, staring at the dolls on the shelves.

He got out his phone and called up Woohyun, who thankfully picked up quickly.

“Hey where are you? Nana’s friends are already arriving and the moms are asking where you are.”

Sunggyu snorted. “Why are they asking for me? They know you better at this point anyways.”

He heard Woohyun sigh. “Is that supposed to be a compliment or…?”

“Ok look,” Sunggyu massaged his temples with his free hand. “I kind of sort of forgot to buy Nana that doll she wanted—.”

“What’re you talking about?” Woohyun interrupted rather calmly. “I ordered that online weeks ago. Don’t you remember? We picked it up from the post office a week ago and wrapped it and hid it at my place.”

Sunggyu’s mouth hung open for a moment as he remembered. “…Ah!”

Woohyun chuckled on the other line. “Aigoo what would you do without me?”

But Sunggyu didn’t even argue and could only feel grateful. “Seriously…Woohyun-ah, you saved me. I really don’t know what I’d do without you.” It was silent on the other line and Sunggyu furrowed his brows in confusion. “Hello? You still there?”

Woohyun cleared his throat. “Uh y-yeah. I’m…I’m here.”

“Ok?” Sunggyu smiled a little as he made his way out of the store. “Anyways I should be there in ten minutes…” He glanced at his watch. “Can you handle things there?”

“I always do, don’t I?” Woohyun replied smugly and Sunggyu snorted.

“Remind me to take you out for dinner tomorrow night.”

He heard Woohyun choke on the other line and smiled amusingly. “W-What? Why?”

“Why else?” Sunggyu hopped into his car. “I owe you at least that, don’t I?”

“…You…you don’t owe me anything.” Woohyun sounded rather serious. “That’s—that’s what friends are for right?”

“Yeah and that’s why as a friend, I’m taking you out as a thank you. Its not a question ok? You’re going.” Sunggyu sighed, resting one hand on the steering wheel. He knew Woohyun would give in, he usually did.

And when he heard Woohyun sigh reluctantly, he grinned. “Well I can’t say no to a free meal.”

“Great, it’s a date. Ok I’m driving now, I’ll see you in ten minutes.”

And then Sunggyu hung up.

Woohyun, stood in the kitchen and stared at his phone for a moment, Sunggyu’s last words ringing in his ear.

It’s a date. It’s a date. It’s a date.

“H-He said…it’s a date…” Woohyun murmured to himself, pressing his palm to his mouth in shock. “He said it’s a date!” He accidentally yelled out loud, earning stares from the mothers who were in the living room. He cleared his throat and sent them a polite smile. “Excuse me for a moment ladies.” He waved before hurrying into Sunggyu’s bedroom and leaping face first onto his bed. He breathed in the wonderful, intoxicating scent of Sunggyu in his pillow and sighed happily. Then he rolled over on to his back pressing his palms to his cheeks. “Date….h-he said date!” But then he remembered what they had said before that…about being friends. And just like that, all his hopes were flushed down the toilet. He sat up, running a hand through his hair.

What am I doing…? Getting my hopes up…he clearly said as friends. Friends, Nam Woohyun. Stop thinking you’re something more to him…”

Sunggyu finally arrived fifteen minutes later and immediately made his way into the kitchen after awkwardly greeting the mothers who were sitting in the living room drinking coffee.

To his relief, he found Woohyun in the kitchen finishing preparing the pink frosting and other toppings for the cupcakes. Apparently for her birthday, Nana wanted to decorate cupcakes with her friends, who were currently playing—rather loudly in her room.

Sunggyu immediately walked up behind Woohyun and hugged him, resting his chin on Woohyun’s shoulder. Woohyun stiffened slightly under his touch, and bit his lip when Sunggyu sighed softly in his ear.

“O-Oh you’re back?” Woohyun cleared his throat, his movements somehow becoming robotic.

“How do you always manage to have everything under control?” Sunggyu seemed oblivious to how out of control Woohyun’s heart was beating at that moment, however. He chuckled and tilted his head so his nose was brushing Woohyun’s cheek. “Hm? You always save me, you know that?”

Woohyun pursed his lips, and then laughed awkwardly and elbowed Sunggyu away.

“A-Anyways, the kids are in Nana’s room maybe you—.”

“And you even made all the food and decorations and cleaned up.” Sunggyu leaned against the kitchen counter, shaking his head in amazement as he looked Woohyun up and down. “Can we just get married?” He joked, but Woohyun averted his eyes silently. “Seriously, I mean its already like that anyways, and Nana already thinks of you as her other parent—.”

“The cupcakes are done.” Woohyun interrupted rather coldly and moved into the living room, avoiding eye contact with the older man. Sunggyu merely shrugged it off and followed after him.

They set up everything to decorate the cupcakes with at the dining table as Nana and her friends sat down. Of course, things turned messy pretty quickly with vanilla cupcake crumbs, pink frosting and sprinkles everywhere. The little girls were all so concentrated on creating cupcake master pieces and Woohyun couldn’t help but smile. It was times like these, when he kind of wished he had his own child. But at the same time…

He longingly glanced at Sunggyu who was laughing and patting Nana’s head. But then Nana was gesturing him over eagerly.

“Hm?” Woohyun walked to the other side of the table with a smile. “What’s wrong Nana—?”

“For Woohyun appa!” Nana announced and smashed a pink frosted cupcake right in his face. Sunggyu and the little girls at the table burst out laughing—some even pointed fingers at him.

Woohyun pulled the cupcake off his face, wiping pink frosting from his nose. The first thing he saw was Sunggyu’s mouth wide open, laughing hilariously at him.

“You think this is funny?” Woohyun couldn’t help a slight smile.

Sunggyu chuckled and used his thumb to wipe some frosting off Woohyun’s cheek.

“I didn’t know she was gonna do that, I swear!”

Woohyun faked a hurt pout. “Really? It feels like it was your idea though…”

“I promise.” Sunggyu grinned, grabbing a napkin to wipe Woohyun’s face. But Woohyun already started using his fingers to scrape the frosting off his cheek. He then proceeded to it off his fingers, and Sunggyu stopped reaching for the napkin. Woohyun absently met his gaze and Sunggyu instantly looked away.

“What?” Woohyun frowned.

“Hm?” Sunggyu turned to him, somewhat awkwardly. “No…i-its nothing.”

That evening, after the party ended, and everyone went home, Nana fell asleep on the sofa, surrounded by her presents.

Woohyun smiled a little as he cleared the dining table, and then glanced at Sunggyu who was in the kitchen washing the dishes. He turned back to the table, sighing softly and scooping up a dollop of pink frosting onto his finger. He his finger thoughtfully, when he noticed Sunggyu looking at him from the corner of his eye.

“What?”

“N-Nothing.” Sunggyu immediately turned back around, almost letting a soapy dish slip from his hands.

Woohyun tilted his head, shrugged it off and migrated to the kitchen holding the bowl of pink frosting. He set it down on the counter, when he felt Sunggyu’s slightly wet hand rather roughly clutch onto his arm from behind. Before he could turn around, Sunggyu was right behind him leaning over him. Sunggyu’s arm reached around Woohyun and he scooped up some of the frosting on his fingers. Woohyun bit his lip and hesitantly turned around to see Sunggyu the frosting off his fingers with a satisfied smile.

“Why is this frosting so good?” He hummed happily with a dazzlingly cute smile.

Woohyun smiled a little, until he realized Sunggyu wasn’t budging at all and was still basically cornering him against the counter top.

“Uh hyung…” Woohyun grinned amusingly. “Its great you’re enjoying that, but could you move—?”

Sunggyu suddenly reached over, scooped up more of the frosting and smeared it across Woohyun’s cheek. Then he chuckled. “You should really try it, its good Woohyun-ah.”

Woohyun stared at him un-amused, for a moment. Then he quickly turned around for revenge, but Sunggyu grabbed his arm, stopping him. And then Sunggyu was spreading frosting on his other cheek and laughing.

“Ok, ok…” Woohyun snorted. “Ha ha so funny. Now can you stop—?”

“Aw why are you blushing?” Sunggyu gestured to the pink frosting covering Woohyun’s cheeks. “Are you embarrassed?” Sunggyu joked and Woohyun could only roll his eyes. He didn’t understand how a man older than him, who was supposed to be a father could be so childish sometimes. He proceeded to scrape the frosting off his cheek with his finger and ran his tongue along his finger in an attempt to clean himself up. He noticed everything suddenly became quiet and looked up to see Sunggyu staring at him with an unreadable expression.

“…What?” Woohyun noticed Sunggyu bite down on his pink tinted lip and instantly felt his heart beat getting quicker.

Sunggyu hesitantly reached a hand out, slowly running his thumb across Woohyun’s lower lip, accidentally getting bits of pink frosting on him.

Woohyun was losing his mind. He didn’t understand why Sunggyu was being like this right now.

They were friends.

They were supposed to be friends.

This was definitely not something friends would do.

But he didn’t want to waste the moment—even though he didn’t quite know what exactly was happening. He clutched onto Sunggyu’s hand, the frosting off Sunggyu’s finger. He could see Sunggyu’s eyes widen for a second, before narrowing in frustration, and perhaps something else—lust.

Woohyun his lips, cautiously gripping onto the folds of Sunggyu’s shirt. He leaned forward, half lidded orbs practically begging for it. Sunggyu’s eyes drifted from Woohyun’s eyes to his lips, on the verge of giving in. Woohyun could practically feel Sunggyu’s breath on his lips before the older man pulled away.

Woohyun’s eyes widened and he immediately leaned back on the counter, averting his eyes. Sunggyu cleared his throat and returned to washing the dishes.

Woohyun felt his cheeks grow hotter by the second. He was so upset and embarrassed. He wondered if he somehow misread Sunggyu’s actions, but at the same time he was pretty damn sure he didn’t.

He watched Sunggyu, who was completely focused on scraping every last crumb off a plate.

“Uh…” Woohyun began. “You…so when are you going to take me?”

Sunggyu accidentally dropped a glass into the sink, but thankfully it didn’t break. He looked up at Woohyun in shock. “W-What?!”

“I-I meant the restaurant!” Woohyun exclaimed, waving his hands around in a flustered manner. “Y-You said you were treating me as thanks for helping with the party!”

“O-Oh…” Sunggyu nodded, biting his lip. “R-Right…”

Woohyun sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. “Its fine. You don’t have to—.”

“No! I said I was going to, so I’m going to!” Sunggyu claimed, rather stubbornly. He looked away thoughtfully for a moment. “Tomorrow night…I said tomorrow night before right? So let’s do that. I’ll pick you up at seven ok?”

The next evening, Woohyun tried not to be too eager as he waited outside his apartment for Sunggyu to pick him up. He continuously had to remind himself it wasn’t a date as he picked out his outfit, put on cologne, and did his hair.

He even brought a bouquet of roses, though he was seriously regretting it now that he thought about it.

He was about to discard of the roses but then Sunggyu’s car pulled up right in front of him and it was too late.

He got in as Sunggyu greeted him.

“What’re those?” Sunggyu gestured to the roses and Woohyun’s eyes widened for a moment.

“Uhhh…for Nana!” He exclaimed. “Y-Yeah…I thought she’d like them since she likes flowers and…stuff.”

“Oh.” Sunggyu nodded. “That’s nice.”

Woohyun tossed the bouquet in the back seat in extreme embarrassment, and then put on his seat belt as Sunggyu pulled onto the road.

“S-So speaking of Nana…”

“Ah,” Sunggyu nodded, as he to the main road. “She’s at a friend’s.”

“Which friend?” Woohyun asked almost immediately.

“Mm…Jihyun I think?”

“Oh…” Woohyun nodded in relief. “That’s good. They get along well.”

“What are you? Her dad?” Sunggyu chuckled. “Hey that’s my job you know?”

Woohyun smiled sheepishly, and folded his hands in his lap as the car came to a stop at a red light. Sunggyu turned to him for a second, looking him up and down.

“You look nice.”

Woohyun turned to him, startled. “W-What? Nah…this—it’s just normal. I didn’t go out of my way or anything.”

“Ok.” Sunggyu grinned, clearly not believing him for a second.

Woohyun nudged him slightly and laughed. “What? You don’t believe me? Why would I get dressed up for you?”

“I don’t know why you do things. You’re weird.” Sunggyu shrugged. “One time you got dressed up to go to the drug store to pick up Nana’s allergy medicine.”

“That was one time!”

“My name is Nam Woohyun and the world is my cat walk.” Sunggyu joked, earning him another nudge on the arm from Woohyun.

“So where are you taking me anyways?”

Sunggyu smiled proudly. “I found the best place.”

Woohyun got out of the car and stared at the building they were in front of.

“A family restaurant…”

“Yeah!” Sunggyu slung an arm around him. “Isn’t it great? I even got a coupon!”

“A coupon…” Woohyun mumbled as they walked. Any hopes of a “date” had officially been sullied in Woohyun’s mind. He knew Sunggyu wasn’t exactly the most romantic guy, but this was clearly a sign that he had been officially, and irrevocably friend-zoned.

Woohyun’s shoulders slumped as he scooted into a greasy booth behind a family with some noisy children.

Woohyun turned around, coming face-to-face with a little boy with some kind of action figure in hand. He was screaming but immediately stopped when he noticed Woohyun. Woohyun smiled at him, but that only made the kid drop his toy and run away.

Woohyun frowned and turned back around to see Sunggyu humming casually and scanning a menu.

Woohyun jutted his lower lip out, tapping his fingers on the table.

Sunggyu looked up from his menu and smiled a little.

“Aren’t you gonna look at your menu? I heard the teriyaki chicken—.”

“I don’t care. Just order whatever.” Woohyun shrugged, folding his arms and leaning back in the booth.

Sunggyu basically remained oblivious to Woohyun’s moody ways, or rather he ignored it since he was so used to Woohyun being like that on a daily basis.

Sunggyu ordered for both of them, and after the waiter left, he turned to Woohyun who was grumpily staring out the window.

“What’s wrong?” Sunggyu finally asked.

“Nothing.” Woohyun replied, snippily.

Sunggyu tugged on his arm, but Woohyun ignored him and reached for the drinks menu.

“Woohyun-ah…”

Nothing.

“Woohyunnie…”

Still nothing.

“Fine I give up.” Sunggyu sighed. “Be a grumpy little , I don’t care.”

Woohyun still showed no reaction and blankly stared out the window.

“Ugh you’re ridiculous!” Sunggyu kicked him under the table. “What the hell Nam? You can’t ignore me for the whole dinner.”

Woohyun turned to him with a nonchalant expression. Then he snorted and looked out the window again. Sunggyu was officially pissed off.

“Yah…” He growled. “Nam Woohyun!”

Woohyun finally met his gaze with an annoyed look. “What? What do you want?”

Sunggyu pouted. “What happened? You seemed fine on the way here…”

“I…” Woohyun averted his eyes. He couldn’t fight the disappointment he was feeling about the restaurant Sunggyu had taken him to—especially after what happened the night before. He somehow felt like Sunggyu was leading him on or something.

“It can’t all just be in my head…could it?” Woohyun wondered as the waiter came with their food. Sunggyu eagerly dug in to his meal and Woohyun could only sigh helplessly.

He was fine before the other night. If only Sunggyu didn’t do that—didn’t act like that with him and give him false hope. Before that he had accepted the fact that they were just friends. But now he wasn’t so sure about anything at all.

“You know Nana said this was the best birthday ever.” Sunggyu spoke as he chewed.

Woohyun nodded with a small smile. “Did she?”

“Yeah…” Sunggyu noticed Woohyun hadn’t touched his food. “Aren’t you going to eat?”

“Uh…yeah.” Woohyun nodded and poked his food with his chopsticks.

“Here, have some of this. Its good.” Sunggyu scooped up some chicken with his chopsticks and placed them on Woohyun’s plate. It was a small, basically meaningless action, but Woohyun still wished Sunggyu didn’t do it, because it just made him fall more in love with the older man.

Woohyun ate the chicken Sunggyu had given him and his face immediately brightened.

“Its good!”

“See?” Sunggyu smiled. “I told you!”

Woohyun nodded happily and begun to stuff his face, quickly regaining his appetite. But while he was eating, he failed to notice Sunggyu’s warm smile as he watched the younger man eat.

“I can’t believe she actually believed me for two whole weeks.” Woohyun chuckled as he reached for his glass of soda.

“Yeah she’s really gullible.” Sunggyu sighed with a smile as he thought fondly of Nana. “She definitely didn’t get that from me!”

“Really? Because you’re so easy to fool though.” Woohyun flashed him a grin.

Sunggyu remained un-amused however. “T-That’s not me! That’s because you’re too sneaky…and stuff…” He rubbed the back of his neck and sighed. “I’m not naive though. She probably got that from her mother’s side.”

And then the casually comfortable atmosphere immediately took a gloomy, somewhat awkward turn.

Woohyun took another sip of his drink and then stared at his half empty plate for a moment. “Do you…do you ever miss her?”

Sunggyu stared at his own plate for a moment too, before smiling a little. “Sometimes…sometimes it feels lonely. But I guess its always like that when someone that you used to care so much about…you know…”

“Oh.” Woohyun bit his lip, feeling a stab to his chest.

“But,” Sunggyu suddenly reached for his hand across the table and smiled softly at him. “I don’t feel lonely much, because…you’re there. I-I mean you and Nana. It doesn’t feel like I’m raising her alone because you’re always there helping me.”

Woohyun stared at Sunggyu with wide eyes before lowering his gaze to their hands. His heart beat increased ten-fold and his cheeks heated with color. He didn’t know why Sunggyu was being like this. He wondered is Sunggyu was actually—.

“Its handy how you’re always taking care of her when I’m not there. It’s like you’re the other parent.” Sunggyu grinned. “Doesn’t Nana call you Umma sometimes?”

Woohyun immediately frowned. “What.”

Sunggyu chuckled. “Its like you’re my wife or something. Should I buy you an apron and make you stay in the kitchen?”

Woohyun’s cheeks were burning even more now—but this time from anger.

“Ah…” Sunggyu put a finger to his chin. “But you don’t even cook that much these days. Yah, wifey you should cook more—.”

“You’re an .” Woohyun stood up. “I’m leaving.”

“Aww don’t be mad yeobo~” Sunggyu joked, but Woohyun was not having any of it and stormed out of the restaurant. Sunggyu hastily paid and went after him. “Yah, I was kidding!”

“I’m going home.” Woohyun muttered, shoving his hands in his pockets.

“Aigoo, don’t be like this…” Sunggyu sighed and grabbed his arm. He noticed the frozen yogurt shop next door and smiled. “How about dessert?”

Woohyun turned to him then glanced at the pink shop. “…I don’t know.”

“I’ll treat you.” Sunggyu offered.

There was a hint of a victorious smile on Woohyun’s lips. “Well…if you insist.”

The frozen yogurt shop was filled with couples since it was a Saturday night after all. Sunggyu and Woohyun sat at some stools beside each other, with their frozen yogurt cups on the counter.

Sunggyu dug his spoon into Woohyun’s cup and took a heaping spoonful of Woohyun’s chocolate ice cream. He proceeded to mix it in with the strawberry yogurt in his own cup.

Woohyun tried to do the same with Sunggyu’s but Sunggyu immediately grabbed his cup and raised it in the air so Woohyun couldn’t reach.

“Hyung…” Woohyun frowned. “That’s not fair!”

“Ok, ok.” Sunggyu chuckled and scooped some of the strawberry ice cream and shoved it past Woohyun’s slightly parted lips. Woohyun almost choked as he swallowed.

Then he whimpered and clutched his head. “B-Brain freeze…”

Sunggyu patted his head. “You’re fine...it wasn’t that cold.”

“Yes it was!” Woohyun pouted. “Its so cold~” He rubbed his arms and shivered cutely.

Sunggyu laughed and patted his thigh. “Here give me your hand.”

Woohyun eyed him suspiciously. “Why?”

“Just give it to me.” Sunggyu grabbed Woohyun’s cold hand and rubbed it between his warmer hands. “There? Is that better?”

Woohyun stared at him before quickly looking down and nodding quietly. He expected Sunggyu to let go, but Sunggyu intertwined his fingers with Woohyun’s, resting their clutched hands on Woohyun’s thigh.

Then Sunggyu looked at him—right in his eyes—with the most disarming, perfect smile that made Woohyun melt faster than the frozen yogurt.

“This was really nice…spending time with you like this.”

“It…was?” Woohyun choked.

“Yeah.” Sunggyu chuckled. “Of course. We don’t really get to spend time like this anymore. Sorry I guess I get really busy…and you know we can’t just leave Nana alone.”

Woohyun quickly shook his head. “You don’t have to feel bad. Its not like…I mean you don’t have to make special time for me…its not like we’re…”

“Hm?” Sunggyu tilted his head. “Not like we’re…what?”

“Nothing…nevermind.” Woohyun mumbled and reached for his spoon, but Sunggyu grabbed his other hand to stop him.

“Nothing?” Sunggyu frowned. “Since when were we nothing? I thought we…we—.”

“I didn’t mean that!” Woohyun stammered. He glanced at Sunggyu with a guilty expression before quickly looking away. “I can’t…I can’t do this.”

He pulled away from Sunggyu and hurried out of the store. Sunggyu groaned. He didn’t appreciate this whole ‘running away when they just sat down’ thing that Woohyun seemed to be doing all night.

“Yah…” Sunggyu followed after him, grabbing his arm right outside the store. “Woohyun—!”

“Stop…stop being like this!” Woohyun turned to face him. “Stop chasing after me! Stop being amazing and wonderful a-and…stop making it harder for me not to…” He bit his lip and averted his slightly watery eyes.

“What?” Sunggyu had concern all over his face. “Woohyun-ah….what’re you—?”

“Why do you make it so hard to be your friend…?” Woohyun murmured. He hesitantly met Sunggyu’s gaze in the dimly lit street. “Do you know how hard it is to be your friend when…when you keep making me fall for you?”

Sunggyu’s eyes widened, but before he could even register the younger man’s words, Woohyun was already half way across the street.

Woohyun plopped down at a park bench feeling like the biggest idiot in the whole world. He knew he probably just messed up the best and most important relationship of his life but he couldn’t take it anymore. He felt like he was living a lie—pretending he didn’t want more from Sunggyu. Pretending he didn’t love him.

He dug his fingers into his thighs, biting his lip as tears fell from his eyes down onto his jeans in droplets.

“G-Gyu…hyung.” He stuttered, burying his face in his hands.

“Y-Yah…You stupid idiot!”

He choked on his tears, slowly looking up to see Sunggyu running up to him, out of breath.

“Y-You….” Sunggyu paused, resting a hand on his knee to catch his breath. “Stop…running away stupid.”

Woohyun’s lower lip trembled. “…W-What…?”

“You didn’t even let me speak!” Sunggyu hissed and nudged Woohyun aside to sit beside him on the bench.

“I-I take it back!” Woohyun stammered. ‘I-I’m sorry just pretend I didn’t say—!”

“Let me speak damn it!” Sunggyu growled. He sighed, running a hand through his hair, before turning to Woohyun. Then he grabbed Woohyun’s shirt collar and started shaking him. “Why didn’t you say anything sooner you stupid dumb head?!”

Woohyun merely stared at him in confusion with wide glossy eyes.

Sunggyu wiped the wetness from under Woohyun’s eyes and sighed softly.

“I was trying to hint at things all night but you kept turning me down! I thought you weren’t interested!”

Woohyun’s lips parted to say something but he was basically speechless. “H-Huh?”

“Do you know I’ve been trying to make you understand for a whole year but you’re so stupid and you kept saying about being friends and stuff so I thought you didn’t feel the same way?”

“A…a year?” Woohyun blinked. “You…liked me for a year?!”

“Yes.” Sunggyu snorted. “But you’re dumb so—.”

“Big ing deal!” Woohyun interrupted. “I loved you for over five years! I win!”

Now it was Sunggyu’s turn to be stunned into silence. “…F-Five years?!”

“Do you know how much I suffered?!” Woohyun cried, dramatically.

Sunggyu eyed him suspiciously. “I don’t believe you! If you liked me for that long why didn’t you do anything?!”

“I did!” Woohyun argued. “Every year for Valentines Day I made chocolate for you !”

Sunggyu blinked. “I…I thought that was for Nana—.”

“And every White Day I take you out for dinner!”

“…Well that’s—.”

“You’re the dumb one!” Woohyun exclaimed and stood up. “Hyung is the dumb idiot who was clueless and—!”

“Ok! Ok! We’re both dumb!” Sunggyu stood up. “Let’s just say that—.”

“No! Hyung is the dumbest idiot ever!” Woohyun pointed a finger at him, more tears falling from his eyes now. “Y-You’re so clueless and stupid—!”

“Ugh ok! I get it!” Sunggyu groaned. “Just shut up and let me kiss you!”

Woohyun immediately stopped, and froze completely.

Sunggyu smiled victoriously at that. “Well that made you shut up.” He held Woohyun’s face in his hands, rubbing his thumb across the tears stains under Woohyun’s eye.

“Woohyun-ah…” He smiled softly, when Woohyun met his gaze. Woohyun leaned forward, letting their lips meet, as he clutched onto the folds of Sunggyu’s shirt.

They both closed their eyes, letting the kiss speak for the words they both failed to say to each other for so long.

I love you.

“You know…” Woohyun began as they walked back to the car hand-in-hand. “I’ve been waiting for you for five years…”

“So?” Sunggyu yawned, as they reached the car.

“I don’t know. Doesn’t that mean you owe me somehow?”

“Owe you? Ah…” Sunggyu nodded. “Well I’ve been waiting a year too. But we’ll have to stop by the drug store for lube because I don’t have any. Only condoms—.”

“Ah! I have an idea! You can pay for the next five dates we have!” Woohyun announced, completely ignoring Sunggyu’s previous statement.

Sunggyu frowned. “What? I don’t want to! Hey did you even hear what I just said—?”

“What about Nana? Don’t we have to pick her up?” Woohyun hummed and got into the passenger seat.

“No, she’s sleeping over at Jihyun’s.” Sunggyu got into the driver’s seat and strapped on his seat belt. He turned to Woohyun. “The house is empty tonight…”

“Oh too bad, you’ll be lonely.” Woohyun patted his shoulder and grinned. “Aigoo poor hyung~”

Sunggyu knew Woohyun was just messing with him but he had too much pride to actually come out and ask Woohyun to stay over.

But he could still demand him to.

“Yah,” Sunggyu grabbed onto his arm. “You’re staying over. No questions.”

Woohyun tilted his head. “Hmm I don’t know. I’ll have to check my schedule—.”

“Oh please. You’ve had this night free on your schedule for five years.”

They decided to take things nice and slow when they got back to Sunggyu’s place and relaxed on the sofa, watching television.

Woohyun kept not so subtly scooting closer on the sofa until he was pressed up to Sunggyu’s side. Sunggyu however, didn’t even bother to acknowledge this, even though he was very aware of it and focused his eyes on the screen, yawning occasionally.

That is until Woohyun leaned his head on Sunggyu’s shoulder and encircled his arm with Sunggyu’s. Sunggyu sighed, after feeling Woohyun gazing at him for a minute straight.

“What’re you doing?”

Woohyun pouted. “We kind of just got together. Aren’t we supposed to have like…a honeymoon period? Or are we skipping straight to the old married couple part?”

Sunggyu chuckled. “Well we’re kind of already at the old, married part, aren’t we?”

“Yeah,” Woohyun smiled a little, clutching onto Sunggyu’s hand. “I guess…ah, but how’re we going to tell Nana?”

Sunggyu blinked, thinking it over for a moment, then he shook his head. “Uh we’ll think about that tomorrow…”

“Are you sure?” Woohyun frowned. “But don’t you think we should—.” Sunggyu clamped a hand over his mouth and shushed him.

“Its fine…I’ll think about what to tell her tomorrow. I’m tired now.”

Woohyun pulled Sunggyu’s hand away and adjusted himself so his knees were digging into the sofa cushion and leaned closer to Sunggyu. He hesitantly moved forward, palms pressed into the sofa cushion in front of his knees.

“What’re you doing?” Sunggyu grinned slightly.

Woohyun frowned. “Don’t act like you don’t know!”

Sunggyu chuckled, his hands holding Woohyun’s face and pulling him closer for a kiss. Woohyun eagerly kissed him back, clutching to the loose fabric of Sunggyu’s shirt around his waist, until he was practically falling into Sunggyu’s lap.

Sunggyu broke off the kiss, holding Woohyun’s face a good few inches from his own.

“Hyung~” Woohyun whined in annoyance.

“What?” Sunggyu smiled amusingly.

Woohyun frowned. “…Can’t we do more?”

“No.” Sunggyu laughed.

“Why not~?” Woohyun complained in an annoyingly whiny voice and tugged at Sunggyu’s sleeve.

“Because I like seeing you squirm.” Sunggyu retorted with a grin and shoved Woohyun to the side, before getting up off the couch.

“You’re horrible!” Woohyun crossed his legs and folded his arms, with a frustrated pout on his face.

“And you’re annoying.” Sunggyu patted his head and walked off to the kitchen.

When Sunggyu returned to the living room with a can of soda, Woohyun was no where to be found. “Hm?” Sunggyu looked around, blinking curiously. “Where’d he wander of to?”

He spotted Woohyun’s discarded sweater at the living room doorway. He walked up to it and picked up the clothing piece, only to see what looked like Woohyun’s shirt tossed to the floor at the end of the hallway. Sunggyu narrowed his eyes curiously as he moved to the end of the hallway, leading to his bedroom. Right in front of his closed bedroom door were Woohyun’s pants. Sunggyu blinked in disbelief before hastily opening the door to his bedroom and rushing in. He stopped immediately when he saw Woohyun in his bed, in a pair of Sunggyu’s sweat pants and one of Sunggyu’s baggy t-shirts, asleep.

Sunggyu sighed softly, and smiled just a little bit.

Woohyun woke up the next morning with a stream of sunlight from the opening in the blinds, warming his face and hurting his eyes.

He sleepily rubbed his eyes, taking in a deep breath. He immediately took in a deep inhale of the sweet smell of Sunggyu’s shampoo. He blinked, turning to his side to see Sunggyu snoozing on the white sheets beside him, a blissful expression as he slept peacefully. Woohyun stared in a daze, using one finger to fix the sleeping Sunggyu’s bangs. But then Sunggyu opened his eyes, forehead crinkling a little as he groaned.

“Hm?” He blinked sleepily, staring back into Woohyun’s now wide eyes. “Oh you’re up already?” He grunted, drowsily.

“What happened last night?” Woohyun suddenly sat up, pressing his palms to his cheeks. “Hyung…was this…?” He turned to Sunggyu in shock. “Was this our first night together?!”

Sunggyu squinted. “Well…” He murmured, voice hoarse and sleepy. “Not really since we didn’t—.”

“I don’t even remember what happened last night!” Woohyun gasped. “Was I drunk?! Did I get drunk?! Isn’t that what always happens in these situations? Did you drug me? Hyung don’t tell me you took advantage of me!”

Sunggyu merely stared at him, eyes barely half open. “What—.”

“Or wait! Did I take advantage of you?! What if I took advantage of you and didn’t even realize it then is it still taking advantage of—.”

“Stop faking. You remember what happened last night…”

Woohyun’s shoulders slumped in disappointment. “So? Can’t you just let me pretend? I mean you ruined it for me last night by being boring and everything…can’t you just let me have this at least?”

Sunggyu snorted and yanked at Woohyun’s arm, pulling him into his chest. “Nope.”

Woohyun sighed, but he couldn’t help but smile anyways because Sunggyu’s chest was warm and comfy and Sunggyu was warm and comfy and this was all he really wanted for years and it was finally happening. Truth be told he couldn’t possibly be happier.

He nuzzled his nose into the crook of Sunggyu’s soft neck and whimpered happily when he felt Sunggyu’s hand the back of his head.

Suddenly the door burst open and Nana, in a bright pink jumper bounced in.

“Appa I’m home!” She giggled excitably and hopped onto the bed. Woohyun and Sunggyu immediately sat up in a shocked frenzy. “Jihyun and her umma are parking the car!”

Sunggyu was pretty sure Jihyun’s mother agreed to drop them off later at lunch time.

He glanced at the digital clock on his night stand. It was half past noon.

He winced and turned to Nana who was looking from Woohyun to Sunggyu and blinking curiously.

“Why is Woohyun appa in your bed appa?”

“Uh…” Sunggyu cleared his throat. “That’s—.”

“Ah! Did Woohyun appa finally confess?!” Nana gasped, earning a horrified look from Woohyun. “Woohyun appa did you confess with chocolates and a homemade dinner—?”

“Nana!” Woohyun hissed, but Sunggyu just chuckled.

“Even Nana knew? Damn I guess I really was the clueless one …” Sunggyu smiled softly. “But Nana…you’re really ok with this?”

“As long as you don’t hurt Woohyun appa I’m ok with it.” Nana grinned cheekily.

“Yah.” Sunggyu frowned, rubbing Nana’s head gently, while Woohyun chuckled.

“Well,” Woohyun grinned proudly. “I guess she got that from me—the ability to masterfully annoy her father~”

Sunggyu snorted as Nana and Woohyun cheered and did cute little high fives with each other for having something in common.

“Yah,” Sunggyu repeated, but the two weren’t listening at all and giggling about something together. “That’s a learnt behavior!”

“Yeah.” Woohyun shot him a thumbs up. “A behavior she learned from me~”

“You’re such a bad influence! You’re not allowed to see Nana anymore!” Sunggyu exclaimed as Woohyun was helping Nana off the bed.

“We’re gonna go eat some breakfast…ah or is it lunch?” Woohyun smiled at Nana as the child clutched onto his hand.

“Brunch!” Nana cheered.

“Yeah! Brunch for Nana-sshi and Woohyun appa!” Woohyun cheered and Nana cheered as well, both ignoring Sunggyu and marching out of the bedroom.

“Are you idiots not even gonna wait for me?” Sunggyu frowned after the door shut.

Then it quickly opened again and Woohyun popped his head in. “Aren’t you coming yeobo~?”

Sunggyu grinned and climbed out of the bed. “Don’t call me that stupid.”

“Aw.” Woohyun pouted as Sunggyu walked up to him and slung an arm around his shoulder. “Don’t call me stupid then.”

“Can’t stop calling you what you are you know?” Sunggyu joked as they walked out of the bedroom together.

“So all I am is stupid to you? What about cute? What about handsome? What about charming? What about y—?”

“Ok, ok.” Sunggyu laughed. “Cute, charming, y Woohyun make me some breakfast.”

Woohyun frowned. “You forgot handsome.”

But Sunggyu ignored him and joined Nana in the kitchen.

“Hyung!” Woohyun yelled and hurried after him. “You forgot handsome!”
