‘Sniff Sniff’ the light sob was heard.

“What is it, Zhen?” A man’s soothing voice sounded as a delicate hand reached out and patted the ruffled dark hair that opposed the white bed sheets.

‘Sniffle’ A hand reached up out of the covers and rubbed the small running nose. “I had a nightmare.” A voice whined.

The man chuckled. “Is that all?” He smiled sweetly at the young girl as a dimple appeared on his checks.

“That’s not all!” The girl pouted, “It was really scary, Daddy.”

Her dad nodded his head and scooped the young girl into his arms, “Well, there’s no need to be scared any longer. Daddy’s here and he’s strong enough to fight away all the bad guys.”

Zhen giggled. “That’s right cause Daddy is the biggest and strongest person in the world. Daddy is like a superhero. Just like Uncle Tao and Uncle Kris!” She cheered.

Her father laughed at her before ruffling her hair again. “That’s right, and you never have to be afraid as long as you have us. I promise I’ll always protect you from the bad guys.” He smiled at her before pulling her in for a big hug.

Zhen nuzzled into her father’s neck only for him to tense at the action. She pulled away with an apologetic face, to which he simply brushed off.

“It’s a good thing I’m the only one who knows Daddy’s weakness.” She grinned playfully.

She picked up her arms and tickled her father’s neck. His face contorted in a reflection of pain. He placed the girl on the bed as he let out a few shouts of help. When he was able to pull away, he looked at his daughter with an evil grin.

“And it’s a good thing I’m the only one who knows Zhen’s weakness.” He mimicked the girl’s actions and lifted his hands before tickling his daughter’s stomach. She screamed a few high pitched screams.

“Daddy! STOP!” She giggled as she rolled in her bed trying to avoid him as much as possible with no use. They continued their tickle fight for a few minutes before a voice sounded.

“Lay!” A female’s voice broke up the fight. “I thought you were helping put Zhen back to bed, not wake her up more. She has school in the morning.”

Lay awkwardly laughed as he scratched his neck, “Sorry Honey, I forgot.”

His wife shook her head at her forgetful husband, “Well, hurry up. You need your sleep too.” She smiled sweetly before walking down the hallway and out of sight.”

“Ouuu! Daddy got in trouble with Mommy.” Zhen taunted.

Lay chuckled, “Someone else is going to be in trouble if she doesn’t go to bed soon.” He poked his daughter’s nose. She giggled taking the hint. She scurried under her covers as Lay tucked her in.

“Good Night, Zhen.” He kissed her forehead.

“Good Night, Daddy!” She replied, as he walked away and turned off the light. As he slowly closed the door, he watched his daughter slip into a peaceful sleep with a smile on her face.
